Companies Using Froala Editor

We detect Froala on 57,223 domains, which makes it the largest entry in the WYSIWYG Editors category at 30.25%. It is worth understanding why before comparing that number to anything.

Froala is matched on the fr-view, fr-box and fr-popup classes it wraps around content it produced. Those classes stay in the published HTML long after anyone last opened the editor. TinyMCE and CKEditor are matched on their script and their runtime global, which only fire where the editor itself loads. Froala's rank measures output; theirs measures the tool.

Froala Editor Usage Statistics

Our current crawl window covers June to August 2026: 47,774 → 54,806 → 57,223. The June to July step is 14.7% and coincides with our corpus expanding, so treat it as coverage. The July to August step of about 2,400 domains is the one worth quoting. 5,521 domains have dropped Froala since we began tracking it in March 2026, and the gap between domains ever seen and domains currently active widened from 51 to 3,746 across the three months.

There are 57,223 companies and domains where we detect Froala Editor, sign up to download the entire Froala Editor dataset.

IBM appears through newsroom.ibm.com, Cognizant through news.cognizant.com, Lockheed Martin through news.lockheedmartin.com, ADP through mediacenter.adp.com, Medtronic through news.medtronic.com. These are press and newsroom sites, and the segment shares a stack too: of the 105 Froala domains on a news-style subdomain, 95.2% run Cloudflare, 89.5% run Google Cloud CDN, 69.5% run Matomo and 52.4% run OneTrust. That is a hosted newsroom platform. The brand on the door did not choose Froala; its newsroom vendor did.

Which Countries Use Froala Editor the Most?

The United States is 16,476 of the companies we can place, an order of magnitude ahead of the United Kingdom at 1,611. Belgium at 1,338 and South Korea at 1,069 rank higher than their share of the web would suggest, and both of those are platform effects rather than national preferences.

Share of the 31,819 Froala Editor domains we matched to a company record — 55.6% of the 57,223 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.

Froala Editor Market Share Among WYSIWYG Editors

Froala is first in the WYSIWYG Editors category at 30.25% of 189,196 domains, ahead of TinyMCE (27.67%) and CKEditor (20.73%). Read that rank with the mechanism in mind. Froala is matched on the fr-view and fr-box classes it leaves in published content; TinyMCE and CKEditor are matched on the editor script loading. A page written in Froala keeps matching forever, while a page written in TinyMCE only matches where the editor itself is served. The four leaders are genuinely close, but they are not measured the same way.

Top Competitors by Market Share

Froala Editor Customers by Company Size & Age

59.06% of the companies we can size have 10 employees or fewer and 22.48% have 11 to 50. Froala is a paid commercial editor, so that skew is not about price sensitivity. It is about who the buyer is: the licence is usually held by the platform vendor, and what we detect is that vendor's customers, most of whom are small.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

30.39% were founded in the 2010s and 16.27% in the 2020s, with a long tail reaching back before 1960. That tail is heavier than in the rest of this category and it fits the industry mix below: government bodies, churches and restaurants are old organisations with new websites.

What Industries Use Froala Editor the Most?

Government Administration leads at 8.22%, then Restaurants at 5.55% and Religious Institutions at 3.68%. That is not a combination any editor wins on its merits, and the explanation is below.

Government Administration2,157 (8.22%)
Restaurants1,456 (5.55%)
Religious Institutions966 (3.68%)
Retail929 (3.54%)
Real Estate914 (3.49%)
Business Consulting and Services746 (2.84%)

We looked at the Government Administration segment directly: 2,157 domains, about 3.8% of Froala's whole base, and they share a near-identical stack. 93.3% run Azure Monitor, 93.2% run Alpine.js, 96.8% run jQuery UI and 96.8% run Google Fonts. A stack that uniform across two thousand unrelated public bodies is one hosted platform, not two thousand decisions. The same reading applies to the restaurants and the religious institutions: these are website-builder verticals where the builder embedded Froala once.

Froala Editor Alternatives & Competitors

TinyMCE at 52,357 domains and CKEditor at 39,226 are the direct comparisons, and both are detected on the editor loading rather than on its output. Quill at 27,325 is the free open-source option. The four together hold 93% of the category, which is unusually concentrated, but the ordering inside that 93% is partly an artefact of how each one is matched.

Expert Analysis: Froala Editor Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Emma Davies
Emma DaviesData Analyst, TechnologyChecker

I analyse adoption data at TechnologyChecker, and Froala is the clearest case I have of a leader whose rank is set by how it is detected rather than by how widely it is deployed. We see it on 57,223 active domains across 31,819 enriched companies as of our August 2026 crawl, first in its category at 30.25%.

1. The rank is real, the comparison is not

Froala is matched on the fr-view, fr-box and fr-popup classes it wraps around content it produced. TinyMCE and CKEditor are matched on their editor script and their runtime global. Those answer different questions. A page authored in Froala keeps matching for as long as the markup survives; a page authored in TinyMCE only matches where the editor itself is served, which for most applications is behind a login our crawler never reaches.

So Froala at 30.25% against TinyMCE at 27.67% is not a 2.6 point lead. It is a class-based count next to a script-based one. Both numbers are correct and the gap between them is not a finding.

2. Two thousand government websites made one decision between them

Government Administration is Froala's largest industry at 8.22%, ahead of Restaurants at 5.55% and Religious Institutions at 3.68%. No editor wins that combination on features, so I looked at the segment directly: 2,157 domains, about 3.8% of the whole base, and they share a stack. 93.3% run Azure Monitor, 93.2% Alpine.js, 96.8% jQuery UI, 96.8% Google Fonts.

"When a stack is 93% identical across two thousand unrelated organisations, you are not looking at two thousand buyers. You are looking at one platform and its customer list." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io

The restaurants and the religious institutions have the same shape. These are website-builder verticals where the builder embedded Froala once and every site it hosts inherited it.

3. The brand names are newsrooms, and the newsroom is outsourced

47 of the 50 largest companies matched on a subdomain, and 37 of those begin with news, newsroom, press or media. IBM on newsroom.ibm.com, Cognizant on news.cognizant.com, Lockheed Martin on news.lockheedmartin.com, ADP on mediacenter.adp.com, Medtronic on news.medtronic.com.

Across all 105 Froala domains on a news-style subdomain: 95.2% Cloudflare, 89.5% Google Cloud CDN, 69.5% Matomo, 52.4% OneTrust. Matomo on seven in ten is the giveaway, because Matomo is rare in general and near-universal here. That is a hosted newsroom platform, most likely a European one given the analytics and consent choices. IBM did not pick Froala. IBM's press-release vendor did.

4. Nobody replaces a rich text editor

Of the 4,984 domains that dropped Froala entirely, 16 now run another editor we track: 7 TinyMCE, 5 CKEditor, 2 Quill, 2 Ace. Zero point three percent. I ran the same check on CKEditor (79 of 4,478, 1.8%) and Quill (20 of 3,854, 0.5%) and got the same answer three times.

An editor is wired into an application's save path and the markup already sitting in its database. Replacing one means migrating stored content, not swapping a script tag. So the churn on this page is sites being rebuilt or retired, and there is no competitive displacement to measure. If you sell an editor, the addressable event is a rebuild, not a renewal.

5. What this population actually is

jQuery on 88.71%, jQuery UI on 44.62%, jQuery Migrate on 29.79%, Modernizr on 29.54%, Bootstrap on 48.48%. This is a jQuery-era application base, and 59.06% of the companies we can size have fewer than 10 employees. Since Froala is a paid commercial component, those two facts only reconcile one way: the licence is held by a platform vendor and what we count is that vendor's customers. The buyer and the user are different parties on most of these domains.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses Froala Editor?

We detect Froala Editor on 57,223 domains, including Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation, IBM, Lockheed Martin. A detection means the technology is present on that domain, which for large organisations is often a single storefront or subdomain rather than a company-wide deployment. Among domains we matched to a company with a resolved industry, the most common is Government Administration (8.22%).

How many customers does Froala Editor have?

We detect 57,223 domains running Froala Editor across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 31,819 of them (55.6%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 5,521 domains carried a Froala Editor detection previously and no longer do.

What is Froala Editor's market share?

Froala Editor holds 30.25% of the WYSIWYG Editors category, ranking #1. This is a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category — not a share of all websites, and not a share of spending — so it is not directly comparable to figures published on other denominators.

What are the best alternatives to Froala Editor?

The top alternatives to Froala Editor include TinyMCE (27.67% market share), CKEditor (20.73% market share), Quill (14.44% market share), Ace (3.33% market share) — measured as a share of the domains we detect running a platform in this category.

Which countries use Froala Editor the most?

United States leads with 16,476 matched Froala Editor domains, followed by United Kingdom (1,611), Belgium (1,338), Germany (1,164), South Korea (1,069). These are counts within the 31,819 domains we could match to a company record, not the full detected base.

What size companies use Froala Editor?

The most common company size is 1-10 employees, representing 59.06% of the Froala Editor domains we could match to a company record and size — a subset of 31,819 matched companies, not of all 57,223 detected domains. This is followed by 11-50 employees (22.48%) and 51-200 employees (10.64%).

How old are companies that use Froala Editor?

Among the Froala Editor domains we could match to a company with a known founding date, most were founded in the 2020s (16.27%), followed by the 2010s (30.39%). That matched subset is drawn from 31,819 companies and is not representative of all 57,223 detected domains. This suggests Froala Editor is most popular among relatively young companies.

What is the ideal customer profile for Froala Editor?

The ideal Froala Editor customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees, Industry: Government, hospitality and religious organisations, Location: United States, Founded: 2010-2019, Stack: jQuery-era application — based on our analysis of 31,819 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.

How many websites use Froala?

We detect Froala on 57,223 active domains as of our August 2026 crawl, first in the WYSIWYG Editors category at 30.25%. One caveat matters: Froala is matched on the fr-view and fr-box classes it wraps around content it produced, and those classes stay in published HTML long after anyone opens the editor. The count includes pages that were authored in Froala, not only sites where it currently runs.

Is Froala free?

No. Froala is a commercial JavaScript editor, now owned by Idera, with a paid licence for production use and a free trial that shows a watermark. That makes its footprint here interesting: 59.06% of the companies we can size have 10 employees or fewer, which is not who normally buys a per-seat component licence. In most cases the licence belongs to the platform vendor, and the small companies we detect are that vendor's customers.

Froala vs TinyMCE vs CKEditor: which is bigger?

By our counts Froala leads at 57,223 domains, TinyMCE has 52,357 and CKEditor 39,226. But they are not measured the same way. Froala is matched on the classes it leaves in published content; TinyMCE and CKEditor are matched on the editor script actually loading. Since an editor normally runs behind a login a crawler never reaches, the script-based counts are floors and the class-based one is not. Treat the three as close rather than ranked.

Why do so many newsrooms use Froala?

Because their newsroom vendor does. 37 of the 50 largest companies we detect on Froala matched on a news, newsroom, press or media subdomain: newsroom.ibm.com, news.cognizant.com, news.lockheedmartin.com, mediacenter.adp.com. Looking at all 105 Froala domains on a news-style subdomain, 95.2% run Cloudflare, 89.5% run Google Cloud CDN, 69.5% run Matomo and 52.4% run OneTrust. A stack that uniform is one hosted platform, not a hundred independent choices.

Why is Government Administration the top industry?

The same reason. The Government Administration segment is 2,157 domains, about 3.8% of Froala's base, and 93.3% of them run Azure Monitor, 93.2% Alpine.js and 96.8% jQuery UI. That is a single public-sector website platform with Froala embedded. Restaurants (5.55%) and Religious Institutions (3.68%) are website-builder verticals with the same shape.

What size companies use Froala?

59.06% have 10 employees or fewer and 22.48% have 11 to 50, so over 80% are under 50 people. Larger names appear through a secondary property rather than the whole company, usually a newsroom on a subdomain.

Which countries use Froala the most?

The United States dominates with 16,476 of the companies we can place, an order of magnitude ahead of the United Kingdom (1,611). Belgium (1,338) and South Korea (1,069) rank higher than their share of the web would suggest, which points at regional platform vendors rather than national preference.

Do sites switch away from Froala?

Almost never. Of the 4,984 domains that dropped Froala entirely, only 16 now run another editor we track (7 TinyMCE, 5 CKEditor, 2 Quill, 2 Ace). That is 0.3%. An editor is wired into an application's save path and its stored markup, so it is a migration project rather than a swap. Most of that churn is sites being rebuilt or retired.

How do you detect Froala?

Two signals: the presence of .fr-view, .fr-box or .fr-popup elements (version 2 and later) or .froala-box (version 1), and a FroalaEditor.VERSION JavaScript global. The first is the one that matters, because it matches the markup Froala wraps around the content it produced, so it fires on published pages and not only where the editor loads.

What stack do Froala sites run?

A jQuery-era one. jQuery is on 88.71%, jQuery UI on 44.62%, jQuery Migrate on 29.79%, Modernizr on 29.54% and Bootstrap on 48.48%. For comparison, Quill sits at 74.06% jQuery with Tailwind CSS on 28.9%. These are different generations of front end.
