Two names hold 86%, and one of them ships icons

Six services appeared at once and nothing large grew
TypeSquare, Xserver Font Service, Fontplus, Adobe Edge Web Fonts, Fonts.com and Edge Fonts are the six biggest gainers, and each added essentially its whole footprint inside the window. Three of them are Japanese webfont services, which is the shape of a ruleset expansion rather than a market shift, so discount all six. Every entry with a base above 100,000 is flat or negative over 30 days.
Google Fonts alone shed about 668,000 domains in a month
That is roughly 6.1% of its base, against 2.8% for Font Awesome, in a category turning over at 5.1% overall. Dropped means the link to fonts.googleapis.com stopped appearing in our crawl, not that a site stopped using type. The 90-day decline is smaller than the 30-day decline, which means the base rose over the preceding two months and gave it all back in the last one, so read the level here and not the direction.
Font Awesome is a class name, and class names outlive stylesheets
Its detection matches any element whose class starts with fa, alongside the stylesheet and the CDN kit. An icon class sits in a template long after someone swaps the stylesheet out, so that count leans toward a markup convention rather than a font being served. Privacy work pushes the leader the other way: replacing a Google Fonts link with self-hosted files removes the detection while the typeface stays, so some of what reads as decline here is fonts moving onto the origin.
