Companies Using SEOmatic

I run the crawler behind these numbers, and SEOmatic is counted by the simplest possible rule: a meta generator tag that reads exactly SEOmatic. nystudio107's plugin writes that tag into every page of a Craft CMS site unless someone turns it off. Our October 2026 crawl finds 14,739 live domains carrying it, 11,177 of them matched to a company, 6th of 48 in SEO Tools.

We loaded all 90 candidate company pages in mid-October 2026, and 77 carried the tag. Twelve sat behind bot walls or didn't load, and one now redirects to a different site without it. The rule has no false matches in that sample.

A Craft count hiding in an SEO plugin

SEOmatic only runs on Craft, so every domain here is a Craft site. Our Craft CMS rule, which reads Craft's own header and cookies, matches 60.43% of the 14,775 clean SEOmatic domains. The other 5,847 hide those signals. 752 of them run a Next.js, Nuxt or Gatsby front end, with Craft working headless behind it; Yokohama Tire, Nando's Australia and the KNVB's Rinus coaching site all answered with a Next.js header. In our sample of 71 SEOmatic pages that loaded for a plain request, 30 sent Craft's header or cookie, 29 sent no X-Powered-By header at all, 5 sent only the Blitz caching plugin's header and 4 a JavaScript framework's.

The Craft CMS profile counts 22,805 live domains and finds SEOmatic on 39.12% of them. Add the SEOmatic sites Craft's rule misses and Craft is at least about a quarter larger than its own count.

Sales signal: for anyone selling to Craft agencies or hosts, SEOmatic's tag is the better list of Craft sites. It catches the headless and heavily cached builds that are often the biggest projects.

What the count can't see

SEOmatic's plugin settings include a Generator Enabled switch that controls both the meta tag and an X-Powered-By header. A site that turns it off disappears from this page. The Craft Plugin Store lists 31,344 active installs, against our 14,739 live domains; installs and public domains aren't the same thing, and the switched-off sites sit in that gap.

Sales signal: treat 14,739 as the visible part of the SEOmatic base, not all of it.

A quiet, sticky base

The chart reads 12,497 in June, 13,842 in July, 14,029 in August, 14,653 in September and 14,739 in October. Most of the June to July step is ours: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection widens over time. Since we began tracking SEOmatic on 16 March 2026, only 748 domains have dropped it, and about one in seven of those still ran it on another hostname a few days later.

Sales signal: SEOmatic users stay put. The selling moment is the next redesign, when the agency picks the stack again.

Who runs it

39.95% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, 31.3% have 11 to 50 and 17.77% have 51 to 200. Craft's profile has 47.97% at 1 to 10, so SEOmatic sites skew to the larger Craft builds. They're older too: 44.44% were founded before 2000 and 12.5% before 1960. Named users include Kodak, Newmark, Ray White, Skillsoft, PA Consulting and Morgan Sindall Group. One organisation can carry many domains. Flywire's country, payment-brand and event domains, all on Craft, come to about 107, 0.72% of the clean set, and the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids runs 60 state campaign sites.

Sales signal: this is a mid-market, established buyer that paid an agency for a custom build. Pitch agency services, accessibility, hosting and integrations, not do-it-yourself tools.

Benelux and Norway

The United States has 3,107 matched companies and the United Kingdom 1,821. Then the map turns to the Low Countries: Belgium (1,237) and the Netherlands (1,142) together outnumber the UK, and Norway (392) is close to Germany (420) and Switzerland (402). Construction (5.08%), Real Estate (3.97%) and Non-profit Organizations (3.43%) lead the industries, and Oslo kommune, Oregon's unemployment insurance site and UNOPS carry the tag.

Sales signal: Belgian, Dutch and Norwegian Craft agencies are a market of their own. Public bodies and non-profits are a real segment here: Non-profit Organizations is the third-largest industry.

Rebuilds, not switches

No switching pair is published for SEOmatic, because its rivals can't run on the same CMS. Since March, 138 domains that ran Yoast SEO on WordPress now serve SEOmatic, so they were rebuilt on Craft, 107 of them within the last 90 days. 60 went the other way, rebuilt on WordPress, and 14 came from All in One SEO. Overlap is small: 99 domains run SEOmatic and Yoast SEO today, usually a Craft site with a WordPress blog on another hostname, and 75 run it with Ahrefs.

Sales signal: for a Craft agency, WordPress sites leaving Yoast are the prospects; for a WordPress agency, the 60 that went back show Craft sites do get rebuilt too.

The stack around it

These percentages are of the 14,775 clean live SEOmatic domains. Google Tag Manager runs on 81.64% and Google Analytics on 76.43%. Privacy-first analytics show up more than on Craft as a whole: Plausible is on 3.09%, against 2.29% on the Craft CMS profile, with Fathom on 1.51% and Umami on 0.94%. Cloudflare fronts 38.93%, Imgix serves images on 7.38%, and Cookie Control (12.59%) and Cookiebot (11.99%) lead consent. Headless front ends add up: Next.js is on 3.46% of SEOmatic domains, Nuxt on 2.08% and Gatsby on 0.40%.

Sales signal: Craft sites are built to order, with tag managers and image CDNs. Analytics, consent and image vendors should pitch the agency that maintains the site.

What it costs

The Craft Plugin Store lists SEOmatic Standard at $99, plus $69 a year after the first year (checked October 2026), for Craft 3, 4 and 5, and craftcms.com itself carries SEOmatic's tag.

Sales signal: at $99, SEOmatic is a build decision the agency makes, not a purchase the client reviews. Reach the agency, not the client, if you sell into Craft builds.
