Companies Using Elastic APM
Our October 2026 crawl finds Elastic's real user monitoring (RUM) agent on 5,189 live domains, once 5,844 sites that got it from a website platform are taken out. We detect the agent by the elasticApm object it creates in the browser, so the count is a floor: Elastic's Java, .NET, Node.js, Python and other server agents leave nothing on a web page. Below are the companies that use Elastic APM in the browser, with size, country, industry and stack, including HP's support site, EPAM, Mercadona's online store, KBC and LEGO's account pages.
The removed sites are dealer websites, auto-repair shop sites, GoDaddy's site builder and reseller storefronts, D2L's Brightspace logins and cloned betting pages, all explained at the end of this page. What's left is mixed: restaurant ordering sites in the UK, Poland and Brazil, real-estate firms in Romania, and an enterprise tail of banks, telecoms and retailers, several of them reporting to an APM server they run. On the cleaned count Elastic APM has 0.19% of our APM & Error Tracking category, 14th of 58.

Elastic APM Usage Statistics
One point: 5,189 live domains in October 2026, counted without the 5,844 platform-fleet sites described at the end of this page. Our earlier monthly totals include those fleets, so the chart starts at the first month we cleaned. Expect later points to move for reasons besides adoption: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widens over time. Since we began tracking it in March 2026, 1,826 domains have dropped the agent, a raw figure that includes fleet sites, and 413 of them still run it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use Elastic APM the Most?
Which countries use Elastic APM the most? The United States, with 495 of the 2,022 companies we matched, then Brazil (178), the United Kingdom (156), Australia (113) and Poland (109). Once the US is past, the list leans European: the Netherlands (92), Germany (85), France (75), Romania (59) and Belgium (55) all make the top ten. Clusters explain part of it. 65 of the Polish companies are restaurants, as are 54 of the British and 30 of the Brazilian ones, and 42 of the 59 Romanian companies are in real estate.
Share of the 2,022 Elastic APM domains we matched to a company record — 39.0% of the 5,189 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Elastic APM Market Share Among APM & Error Tracking
What is Elastic APM's market share? On the cleaned count, 0.19% of APM & Error Tracking, 14th of the 58 tools we track there, based on our crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. Our API still counts Elastic APM raw, 11,004 domains and 0.39% (12th), because it includes the platform fleets. Sentry holds 70.51% with 1,966,067 domains, then New Relic (8.81%) and Datadog (6.38%). Both of Elastic's figures understate it, because we only see its browser agent and much of Elastic APM runs on servers.

Elastic APM Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Elastic APM? Mostly small ones, with a real enterprise tail. 41.55% of matched companies with a known headcount have 1 to 10 employees and 20.64% have 11 to 50; many of the smallest are restaurants and real-estate firms on shared templates. 179 companies employ more than 1,000 people, 9.82% of those with a known size, including HP, EPAM, Mercadona, KBC and Safaricom.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest founding decade is the 2010s (36.12%), then the 2000s (16.31%) and the 2020s (13.88%). But 33.69% of matched companies with a known founding year started before 2000, and 10.97% before 1960. The oldest names on our list include Standard Bank, founded in 1862, and Texas A&M, founded in 1876, both running the agent on sites their customers or students log in to.
What Industries Use Elastic APM the Most?
Restaurants lead at 10.09%, then Retail (9.04%) and Real Estate (6.25%), based on our enriched company data. The restaurant row is mostly ordering templates: 149 of the 181 restaurants are in the UK, Poland and Brazil, and the end of this page explains why we kept them. Finance is the next block. Financial Services (4.8%), Insurance (3.23%) and Banking (2.79%) add up to 194 of the 1,794 companies with a known industry, 10.81%.
Banks using Elastic APM include KBC, whose agent reports to its own server at es6-elasticapm.kbc.be, and Standard Bank on its online banking site. Telecoms on Elastic APM include Safaricom on its customer account site, Vivo on its online store and Tigo in Colombia. Retailers using Elastic APM include Mercadona, whose online store sends data to an endpoint on mercadona.es, and Apollo Pharmacy in India.
Elastic APM Alternatives & Competitors
Sentry dominates this category with 1,966,067 domains (70.51%), and it's the tool Elastic APM trades sites with most. New Relic (8.81%) and Datadog (6.38%) follow, while Azure Monitor (1.25%) and Dynatrace (0.58%) sit nearer Elastic's 0.19% on the cleaned count, based on our crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. The two often run side by side: 395 of the 5,189 Elastic APM domains (7.61%) also load Sentry.

Elastic APM Customer Migration
This switching table was counted before we removed the platform fleets, so read it as raw. It runs both ways. Since March 2026, 62 domains dropped Sentry and now run Elastic APM, while 58 dropped Elastic APM and run Sentry; 9 of those 58 still run Elastic on another hostname. New Relic is the clearest net gain, 48 domains in against 27 out, and Datadog 25 in against 14 out. Across eight tools the totals are 163 domains in and 132 out, on 30- and 90-day windows, which looks like churn at the edges rather than a corridor.

How We Counted Elastic APM Sites
A domain counts here if a page on it creates the elasticApm object that Elastic's real user monitoring (RUM) JavaScript agent sets up in the browser. The test is clean, and it finds the agent wherever it arrives, including copies a website platform installs on every customer site. It can't see Elastic's server-side agents, so every figure on this page is a floor on Elastic APM use.
11,065 live domains passed the test. Before computing anything, we removed 5,844 that run the agent because of the platform they sit on rather than a choice of their own: GoDaddy's site builder and reseller storefronts (1,971 domains), Dealer Spike's dealer websites (1,493), a second powersports and outdoor-equipment dealer platform that we recognise by Tealium, AudioEye and Handlebars running together (1,401, only 2 of them also on Dealer Spike), KUKUI's auto-repair shop sites (725), D2L's Brightspace learning platform (132), whose agent reports to D2L's own Elastic Cloud deployment, and 129 cloned betting pages titled "Asian Handicap". A few domains sit on more than one of these. We also removed 32 for-sale or gambling pages by their titles. We found the fleets by loading a random 100 of the raw domains in a browser; about 20 of them were a business running the agent on its own site or app.
Every chart and table on this page uses the remaining 5,189, with three exceptions. Our API and our APM & Error Tracking category table haven't had this correction and still count Elastic APM raw: 11,004 domains and 0.39%, 12th. On the cleaned count it has 0.19%, 14th. The 1,826 domains that dropped the agent since March 2026 is a raw count that includes fleet sites, and 413 of them still run it on another hostname. And the switching table was counted before the cleanup. Because our earlier monthly totals include the fleets, the usage chart starts in October 2026.
We kept one group we could have removed. Small restaurant ordering sites share templates that load the agent: 49 carry the title "Order food online | Takeaway food delivery", and about 20 Polish ordering sites are titled "zamow online". They're why Restaurants (10.09%) tops the industry chart and Poland (109) ranks fifth among countries. Each is a separate restaurant's ordering site rather than one company's fleet, so we disclosed them instead of removing them.
Expert Analysis: Elastic APM Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Elastic APM is mostly invisible from outside. Its Java, .NET, Node.js and Python agents run inside a company's servers, and nothing about them reaches a web page. What our crawl can see is the browser half: Elastic's real user monitoring (RUM) agent, which creates an elasticApm object on every page it runs on. In October 2026 that object turned up on 11,065 live domains. More than half of them didn't choose Elastic, so this page counts 5,189, and we matched 2,022 of those to a company.
Why we removed half the count
I loaded a random 100 of the raw domains in a browser. About 20 were a business running the agent on its own site or app. Most of the rest were platforms that ship the agent to every customer: dealer websites for motorcycles, boats and farm equipment, small web hosts selling GoDaddy products from GoDaddy's storefront, auto-repair shop sites and university logins on D2L's Brightspace. Measured across the whole set, those fleets come to 5,844 domains: GoDaddy 1,971, Dealer Spike 1,493, a second dealer platform 1,401, KUKUI 725, Brightspace 132 and 129 cloned betting pages. On Brightspace the agent reports to D2L's own Elastic Cloud deployment, so the university hosting the login page isn't the customer. The end of this page lists how each fleet was identified.
Sales signal: the raw 11,004 in our API is not Elastic's customer count. The 5,189 here is the list where a buyer chose Elastic, or at least chose a builder or agency that did.
Growth trajectory
The chart has one point, 5,189 in October 2026, because our earlier monthly totals include the fleets. I won't read a trend from a single month. When later points arrive, remember that the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, as dead sites drop out and new ones come in, and our detection widens over time. Churn is meaningful even if the raw figure overstates it: 1,826 domains have dropped the agent since we began tracking it in March 2026, a count that includes fleet sites, and 413 of them still run it on another hostname.
"Half of Elastic APM's browser footprint was website platforms installing the agent for thousands of small businesses. Take them out and what's left looks much more like Elastic's own market: banks, telecoms and retailers, several running their own APM servers." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: watch the cleaned count from month to month. A single platform in the raw count carries up to 1,971 domains, so one vendor decision there can swamp every real sale.
Who the customers are
41.55% of matched companies with a known headcount have 1 to 10 employees and 20.64% have 11 to 50, and the 2010s (36.12%) are the largest founding decade. Restaurants and real-estate firms on shared templates account for part of the small end. The large end is different: 179 matched companies employ more than 1,000 people, 9.82% of those with a known size. Among them, banks, financial services firms and insurers add up to 37, telecoms 17, government bodies 12 and universities 8.
Several large users send RUM data to an endpoint on their own domain, which means an APM server they operate. KBC reports to es6-elasticapm.kbc.be, Mercadona to a host on mercadona.es, MegaFon to a path on megafon.ru, Liberty University to apm.liberty.edu and ENGIE Belgium to its own site. Texas A&M and Siloam Hospitals do the same. HP, EPAM, LEGO, Safaricom, Veeam and Allianz UK also ran the agent when I loaded their pages.
Sales signal: a self-hosted RUM endpoint is a strong hint that the company runs Elasticsearch for observability. That's the account for Elastic consultancies, managed Elastic hosts and anyone selling cost or migration help away from a self-run stack.
Industries and countries
Restaurants lead the industry chart at 10.09%, but 149 of the 181 are ordering sites in the UK, Poland and Brazil. Finance is the more useful block: Financial Services (4.8%), Insurance (3.23%) and Banking (2.79%) add up to 194 of the 1,794 companies with a known industry. The United States has 495 of the 2,022 matched companies, then Brazil (178), the United Kingdom (156), Australia (113) and Poland (109). The Netherlands (92), Germany (85), France (75), Romania (59) and Belgium (55) follow, and 42 of the Romanian companies are in real estate.
Sales signal: for enterprise prospecting, look at Belgium, Spain and Latin American telecoms. KBC, ENGIE Belgium, Mercadona, Securitas Direct, Vivo, Entel and Tigo in Colombia all appear in the list.
Switching patterns
The migration table was counted before the cleanup, so it's raw. Since March 2026, 62 domains dropped Sentry and run Elastic APM, and 58 went the other way; 9 of those 58 still run Elastic on another hostname. New Relic is the clearest net gain for Elastic, 48 domains in against 27 out, and Datadog 25 against 14. Akamai mPulse runs slightly against Elastic, 14 in and 18 out. These are domains, not companies, and a platform switching vendors can move many at once, so I read the table as churn at the edges.
"Sentry and Elastic trade sites almost one for one, and 395 of the cleaned Elastic domains run Sentry as well. That looks like coexistence to me." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: New Relic accounts that added Elastic's agent are the most interesting rows for Elastic's sellers; for New Relic, Datadog and Sentry, the self-hosted Elastic accounts are the competitive list.
The stack around it
These shares are of the 5,189 live domains in our clean set. Next.js runs on 31.03%, React on 12.49%, Vue.js on 11.16% and Angular on 9.85%: single-page front ends, which is where browser monitoring earns its place. Microsoft ASP.NET (9.02%) and Ruby on Rails (3.87%) are the larger back-end signals. Cloudflare fronts 38.43% and Amazon Web Services hosts 16.46%. Adobe Analytics (3.57%) and Matomo (2.99%) sit beside Google Analytics, which is on 66.62%.
Sales signal: Next.js and Angular shops running Elastic RUM are candidates for front-end performance and error-tracking pitches.
What it costs
Elastic's self-managed pricing page lists APM, logging and metrics in the free tier, and the RUM agent is open source under the MIT licence. Elastic Cloud Hosted starts at $99 a month for Standard, and Observability Serverless charges from $0.07 per GB ingested (checked 10 October 2026).
Sales signal: the free tier means many self-installed accounts pay Elastic nothing. Ask whether the company is self-managed or on Elastic Cloud before pricing a migration.
Key takeaways
1. 5,189 live domains in October 2026 after removing 5,844 platform-fleet sites, and still a floor.
2. The raw 11,004 in our API is mostly not Elastic's buyers.
3. The enterprise tail is banks, insurers, telecoms and government, several running their own APM server.
4. 0.19% of APM & Error Tracking, 14th of 58 on the cleaned count, in a category Sentry holds at 70.51%.
5. Raw switching is roughly even with Sentry and slightly in Elastic's favour against New Relic and Datadog.
How to use this list

How many customers does Elastic APM have?
Elastic doesn't publish an APM-only figure. We find its browser agent on 5,189 live domains in October 2026, 2,022 of them matched to a company. That's after removing 5,844 sites that got the agent from a website platform; counted raw, as our API does, it's 11,004. It's also a floor, because server-side agents leave nothing on a web page.
What is Elastic APM's market share?
On the cleaned count, 0.19% of APM & Error Tracking, 14th of the 58 tools we track there, on 5,189 domains. Our API's raw figures show 0.39% and 12th because they include platform fleets. Sentry dominates with 70.51% (1,966,067 domains), then New Relic (8.81%) and Datadog (6.38%). Both of Elastic's figures understate it, since we can't see its server agents.
What are the best alternatives to Elastic APM?
Sentry for front-end errors, New Relic and Datadog for hosted full-stack APM, and Dynatrace or Azure Monitor in larger enterprises. In our raw switching data New Relic is the biggest net loser to Elastic, 48 domains against 27 the other way, while Sentry and Elastic trade sites roughly evenly (62 in, 58 out). 7.61% of Elastic APM domains also run Sentry.

What is the Elastic APM?
Elastic APM is the application performance monitoring part of Elastic Observability. Language agents for Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, Go, PHP and Ruby trace requests on servers, and the RUM JavaScript agent measures page loads and errors in the browser. Data goes to an APM server and Elasticsearch, either self-managed or on Elastic Cloud. We can only detect the browser agent.
Is Elasticsearch APM free?
Yes, if you run it yourself. Elastic's self-managed pricing page lists APM, logging and metrics in the free tier, and the RUM JavaScript agent is open source under the MIT licence on GitHub. Paid tiers add features such as service maps and APM correlations. On Elastic Cloud Hosted, plans start at $99 a month, per Elastic's pricing page, checked 10 October 2026.
How much does Elastic cost?
Elastic Cloud Hosted starts at $99 a month for Standard, $114 for Gold and $131 for Platinum, per Elastic's pricing page. Observability Serverless charges by data, from $0.07 per GB ingested and $0.017 per GB retained each month. The self-managed free tier costs nothing beyond your own servers. Prices checked 10 October 2026; real bills depend on data volume.
What is RUM in observability?
Real user monitoring: a script in the visitor's browser measures how pages load and records JavaScript errors, then sends the data to a server for analysis. Elastic's version is the RUM JavaScript agent, which creates an elasticApm object on the page. That object is how we detect Elastic APM on 5,189 live domains; server-only setups stay invisible to us.
What is the difference between an Elastic Agent and an APM agent?
Elastic Agent is a single program installed on a host to collect logs, metrics and security data, managed through Fleet. An APM agent is a library inside an application, such as the Java or Node.js agent, or a script in the browser for RUM, that traces requests and errors. Only the browser APM agent is visible to our crawl.
Who are Elastic's main competitors?
In APM, the tools that share Elastic's sites in our data: Sentry (70.51% of the category), New Relic (8.81%), Datadog (6.38%), Azure Monitor (1.25%) and Dynatrace (0.58%). Since March 2026, 163 domains moved to Elastic APM from those and three other tools, and 132 moved the other way, a raw count, so no rival is pulling sites away from it.
