Companies Using Chatbase
Our October 2026 crawl finds Chatbase on 11,723 live domains. Chatbase builds AI support agents that answer from a company's own pages and files and sit on its site as a chat bubble. Below is the list of companies that use Chatbase, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Dolby, Chuck E. Cheese, the University of Delaware's library and the Department of Statistics Malaysia, which Chatbase also features in its own customer stories.
Chatbase ranks 23rd in Live Chat & Messaging with 0.38% of the category, but several rows above it aren't chat widgets at all. Its buyers lean more European and younger than ManyChat's: Germany (597 matched companies) is second only to the United States (1,808), and 20.87% were founded in the 2020s. Sites leave, too: 2,354 domains have removed Chatbase since 16 March 2026.

Chatbase Usage Statistics
Chatbase reads 9,231 domains in June 2026, 10,704 in July, 11,164 in August, 11,667 in September and 11,723 in October. The June to July step of 1,473 reflects changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we detect Chatbase with, rather than a surge in adoption; the set of domains we crawl also turns over every month as dead sites drop out and new ones are added. September to October added 56. Our records first show Chatbase in March 2023, before the period charted here, and 2,354 domains have dropped it since we started tracking removals on 16 March 2026.

Which Countries Use Chatbase the Most?
Which countries use Chatbase the most? The United States, with 1,808 matched companies, then Germany (597), the United Kingdom (499), France (321), Australia (306) and Canada (302). Europe is the story. The ten European countries in the top 15 add up to 2,666 companies, more than the US, and Switzerland (206) and Norway (103) both make the list. ManyChat is the opposite case, with 33 German companies to 1,025 American ones.
Share of the 7,499 Chatbase domains we matched to a company record — 64.0% of the 11,723 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Chatbase Market Share Among Live Chat & Messaging
What is Chatbase's market share? 0.38% of Live Chat & Messaging, 23rd in the category in our October 2026 crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. The rows above it aren't all chat agents. The first, WhatsApp Business Chat, is mostly an outbound "message us" link, and the third, OpenAI with 230,274 domains, is a DNS record site owners add to verify a domain, not a chatbot. Against real chat widgets Chatbase is still small: Tidio's 59,470 domains are about five times its 11,723.
Top Competitors by Market Share
Chatbase Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Chatbase? Mostly small ones, with a real mid-market. 53.81% of the companies we could size have 1 to 10 employees and 28.1% have 11 to 50. 18.09% have more than 50 staff, against 9.70% on ManyChat's profile, and 92 have more than 1,000, including Dolby, Recipharm and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, based on our enriched company data.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group was founded in the 2010s (36.62%), but 20.87% date from the 2020s, about 1.8 times ManyChat's 11.83%. The old end is long as well: 4.87% were founded before 1960. The oldest in our list are the University of Delaware (1743), Greene Tweed (1863) and the American University of Beirut (1866).
What Industries Use Chatbase the Most?
IT Services and IT Consulting leads at 4.66%, then Software Development (4.08%), Advertising Services (3.74%) and Business Consulting and Services (3.73%), based on our enriched company data. Add Technology, Information and Internet (3.51%) and the three tech labels make 12.25%. No industry reaches 5%, and the top ten add up to 32.32%, so hospitality (2.64%), construction (2.37%) and fitness (2.3%) make the list too. Chatbase is bought across sectors.
Universities using Chatbase often put it on one department's site: the University of Delaware on its library and the American University of Beirut on its Global Health Institute, while Vancouver Film School runs it on its main site. Manufacturers on Chatbase include Dolby, Robertshaw, Greene Tweed and Recipharm. Government agencies using Chatbase include the Department of Statistics Malaysia, on its TaniStats agricultural data portal, and Idaho's business.idaho.gov.
Chatbase Alternatives & Competitors
The comparison table is curated: five chat tools that, like Chatbase, sit on a site as a widget. Tawk.to (6.13%), Intercom (4.33%), LiveChat (3.25%), HubSpot Chat (2.69%) and Tidio (1.92%) are live-chat widgets, and every one is far larger than Chatbase. Its AI-agent rivals are Intercom's Fin, Tidio's Lyro, Botpress, Voiceflow and Landbot, and the last three show up in the migration table. Intercom and Tidio sell both a human inbox and an AI agent, so they compete with Chatbase twice.

Chatbase Customer Migration
Since we began tracking in March 2026, 87 domains dropped a chat widget and added Chatbase, led by Tawk.to (24), HubSpot Chat (22) and LiveChat (18), while 50 went the other way. That looks like human chat being swapped for an AI agent, but the last 30 days are close to even, 20 in and 17 out, so don't read it as a trend. AI-agent rivals barely register: Voiceflow, Botpress and Landbot account for 3 domains in and 5 out. Against 2,354 removals, 50 switches out is small. Most sites that drop Chatbase don't move to any tool in this table.
Tech Stack of Chatbase-Powered Websites
These percentages are of the 11,826 clean live Chatbase domains we read for stack data. Google Analytics runs on 69.85% and WordPress on 48.42%, with Elementor on 22.59% and Webflow on 4.25%. WooCommerce (10.77%) is ahead of Shopify (5.93%). Calendly, on 2.83%, is the most common booking tool, and Chatbase lists it among its integrations. The Facebook Pixel fires on 28.59%, well under ManyChat's 72.11%.

Expert Analysis: Chatbase Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I read support tools through their migrations: who replaces what, and why. Chatbase is a useful case because it is young. Our records first show it in March 2023, before the window our chart covers, and in our October 2026 crawl it is live on 11,723 domains, with 7,499 matched to a company. A domain counts when a page sets Chatbase's anonymous visitor cookie, creates its configuration or embed objects, or carries inline script pointing at www.chatbase.co. When we checked the 50 named sites on 10 October, every one loaded it.
Growth, and how much of it is ours
The chart reads 9,231 domains in June 2026, 10,704 in July, 11,164 in August, 11,667 in September and 11,723 in October. The June to July step of 1,473 reflects changes on our side, both the domains we cover and the signals we detect Chatbase with, rather than a surge of installs, and the set of domains we crawl turns over every month as dead sites drop out and new ones are added. From July the line climbs more slowly, by 1,019 domains in three months and only 56 in the last one.
The other number matters as much. 2,354 domains removed Chatbase between 16 March 2026, when we started tracking removals, and October. That is about one removal for every five domains live today. ManyChat, for comparison, has 918 removals against 5,646 live domains, about one in six.
"AI agents are cheap to try and easy to switch off. Chatbase's removal count is what a free plan and a pasted script produce, and it tells you little about the agents that stay." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: date your list. A domain that added Chatbase in the last 90 days may still be evaluating it. One that has kept it since June has made a decision, and it is a better target for anything that sits beside the agent, such as a helpdesk or analytics.
A European, younger buyer
The country table is the clearest difference from ManyChat. The United States leads with 1,808 matched companies, but Germany has 597, the United Kingdom 499 and France 321, and the ten European countries in the top 15 add up to 2,666. On ManyChat's profile Germany has 33 companies to 1,025 American ones. The age data points the same way: 20.87% of Chatbase companies with a known founding year date from the 2020s, against 11.83% for ManyChat.
Sales signal: expect GDPR and data-residency questions early with these buyers. A German or French Chatbase site is a natural prospect for consent, privacy and EU-hosted AI products, and for agencies that build agents in local languages.
Small companies, and big ones on one site
53.81% of the companies we could size have 1 to 10 employees and 28.1% have 11 to 50. The tail is longer than ManyChat's: 18.09% have more than 50 staff and 92 have more than 1,000. Large organisations often put Chatbase on one property rather than the homepage. In our list of 50, 20 run it on a subdomain: the University of Delaware on its library, Atari and Domestika on their help centres, Intellias on its careers site, the American College of Physicians on its annual-meeting site and Malaysia's statistics department on its agricultural data portal. Dolby, Chuck E. Cheese, Evotec and Recipharm run it on their main sites, and GovernmentJobs serves Chatbase's script from its own chat.governmentjobs.com address.
Chatbase's customer stories include the Department of Statistics Malaysia, which is in our detection list too, along with a tax authority, a newspaper and a marketing festival. The vendor's case studies and our crawl agree that the public sector and the mid-market are a real part of this base.
Sales signal: at a large Chatbase account, the buyer is whoever owns that one site: the library, the support team, the recruiting team. Find the subdomain first, then its owner.
Where Chatbase wins and loses sites
Since March, 87 domains dropped a chat widget and added Chatbase: Tawk.to 24, HubSpot Chat 22, LiveChat 18, Tidio 11, Intercom 9, and one each from Landbot, Voiceflow and Botpress. 50 went the other way, led by HubSpot Chat (14) and Tawk.to (12). That 87 to 50 balance reads like human live chat giving way to an AI agent, but the windows soften it. In the last 30 days it is 20 in and 17 out. The AI-agent rivals barely appear, with 3 domains in and 5 out across Voiceflow, Botpress and Landbot. Set against 2,354 removals, 50 switches to named tools is small, so most sites that drop Chatbase don't move to one of these.
"The live-chat vendors are where Chatbase finds its customers: Tawk.to, HubSpot Chat and LiveChat sites make up 64 of the 87 switches in. When sites leave, they rarely move to another AI agent." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: for live-chat vendors, a Chatbase install on a former Tawk.to or LiveChat site is a lost seat that may come back if the owner wants a human handover. For Chatbase's AI rivals, the 2,354 removals are a list of businesses that tried an AI agent and stopped, and they will want to know why the next one is different.
The stack around the agent
These figures are of the 11,826 clean live domains we read for stack data. The Facebook Pixel fires on 28.59%, well below ManyChat's 72.11%, which fits a support purchase more than an advertising one.
Sales signal: Chatbase sites are mostly WordPress sites that measure their traffic, and an agent is only as good as the pages it reads. Knowledge-base and documentation tools have an easy opening.
What it costs
Chatbase's pricing page, checked 10 October 2026, lists a Free plan with 50 message credits a month, then Hobby at $40 a month (700 credits), Standard at $150 (4,000) and Pro at $500 (15,000), with 20% off yearly plans. Each plan includes one agent, extra agents cost $25 a month each, and free agents are deleted after 14 days of inactivity.
Sales signal: pricing by message credits means a busy site's bill grows with its traffic. Sites moving up from Hobby are the ones comparing Chatbase with seat-priced help desks.
Key takeaways
1. 11,723 live domains, 23rd in Live Chat & Messaging, behind several rows that aren't chat widgets.
2. 2,354 removals since 16 March 2026, about one for every five live domains.
3. A European tilt: 2,666 companies in ten European countries against 1,808 in the United States.
4. 18.09% of the companies we could size have more than 50 staff, and 20 of our 50 named sites run Chatbase on a subdomain.
5. More switches in from live chat (87) than out (50) since March, but nearly even over the last 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Chatbase?
Small and mid-sized companies that want an AI agent answering on their site, plus a long tail of universities, public bodies and manufacturers. Our October 2026 crawl finds Chatbase on 11,723 live domains. 53.81% of the companies we could size have 10 or fewer staff, and 92 have more than 1,000. Named users include Dolby, Chuck E. Cheese, Evotec and the University of Delaware's library.
How many customers does Chatbase have?
Chatbase's pricing page says 10,000+ businesses trust it. Our October 2026 crawl finds it live on 11,723 domains, 7,499 of them matched to a company, so the two figures are close. Since 16 March 2026, 2,354 domains have removed it, about one removal for every five live domains today. That is less than seven months of removals, not an annual churn rate.
What is Chatbase's market share?
0.38% of Live Chat & Messaging, 23rd in the category in our October 2026 crawl. That table mixes in things that aren't chat agents: the top row, WhatsApp Business Chat, is mostly a "message us" link, and OpenAI's 230,274 domains are a DNS verification record. Among real chat widgets, Chatbase's 11,723 domains compare with 190,388 for Tawk.to and 59,470 for Tidio.
What are the best alternatives to Chatbase?
Its direct rivals are other AI agents: Intercom's Fin, Tidio's Lyro, Botpress, Voiceflow and Landbot. If you also want people answering in the same inbox, Intercom and Tidio sell both. In our data the flows are small and run both ways. Since March 2026, 7 domains went from Chatbase to Intercom, 5 to Tidio, 3 to Voiceflow and 2 to Botpress, while 9 came from Intercom.
Which countries use Chatbase the most?
The United States, with 1,808 matched companies, then Germany (597), the United Kingdom (499), France (321), Australia (306) and Canada (302). The ten European countries in the top 15 add up to 2,666 companies, more than the US alone. Germany stands out, with about one German company for every three American ones, where ManyChat's profile shows one for every 31.
What size companies use Chatbase?
Mostly small, with a real mid-market. 53.81% of the companies we could size have 1 to 10 employees and 28.1% have 11 to 50. 18.09% have more than 50, against 9.70% on ManyChat's profile, and 92 have more than 1,000 staff, including Dolby, Recipharm and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering. Large organisations often run it on one site, such as a library or help centre.
How old are companies that use Chatbase?
Among companies with a known founding year, the largest group dates from the 2010s (36.62%), but 20.87% were founded in the 2020s, against 11.83% on ManyChat's profile. There's an old tail too, with 4.87% founded before 1960. The oldest in our list are the University of Delaware (1743), Greene Tweed (1863) and the American University of Beirut (1866).
What is the ideal customer profile for Chatbase?
A small company of 1 to 10 people, often in IT services, software, marketing or consulting, that wants an AI agent answering from its own pages. It runs WordPress (48.42% of Chatbase domains) and Google Analytics (69.85%), and it is in the United States or Western Europe. Larger buyers often keep the agent to one site, such as a library or help centre.
What is Chatbase?
Chatbase is an AI agent builder for customer support. You train an agent on your own website pages, documents and files, and it answers visitors in a chat bubble on your site. Chatbase also lists integrations for WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Slack, plus email and voice. Our records first show it in March 2023, and it is live on 11,723 domains in October 2026.
Is Chatbase legit?
Yes, in the sense that real organisations run it in production. We checked 50 sites on 10 October 2026, including Dolby, Chuck E. Cheese, Atari's help centre and the Department of Statistics Malaysia, and each loaded Chatbase. Chatbase says more than 10,000 businesses trust it, close to the 11,723 live domains in our crawl. Test answer quality on its free plan first.
Does Chatbase use ChatGPT?
It uses OpenAI's models, among others. Chatbase's pricing page, checked 10 October 2026, lists advanced models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google's Gemini, DeepSeek, Meta, Mistral, MoonshotAI and Z.ai, while the Free plan gets limited access to models. So a Chatbase agent can run on OpenAI's GPT models, the family behind ChatGPT, but it isn't limited to them.
How much does Chatbase cost?
Chatbase's pricing page, checked 10 October 2026, lists Hobby at $40 a month (700 message credits, 2 members), Standard at $150 (4,000 credits, 3 members) and Pro at $500 (15,000 credits, 5 members), with 20% off yearly plans. Each plan includes one agent, and extra agents cost $25 a month. Removing the "Powered By Chatbase" label costs $99 a month.
Is Chatbase free?
There is a free plan, but it's built for testing. It gives you 50 message credits a month, one agent, one member and 1 MB of training content, and Chatbase deletes free agents after 14 days of inactivity. Paid plans come with a 7-day trial. A site taking real traffic will need Hobby, at $40 a month, or a bigger plan. Checked 10 October 2026.
