Drift is detected on 7,899 active domains in our August 2026 crawl, placing it #25 in Live Chat & Messaging with a 0.27% share of the category. 5,811 of those domains match to a company record.

Drift is a conversational marketing platform: a chat widget that qualifies website visitors, books meetings straight into a sales rep's calendar, and routes named accounts to the right owner. It was built for business-to-business teams running account-based marketing, which is why it shows up far more often on campaign subdomains such as go. and connect. than on a company's homepage.

This page is different from most technology profiles on TechnologyChecker.io, and the difference is worth stating before you use the data. Salesloft, which acquired Drift in 2024, now tells visitors on its own product page that it has transitioned from Drift to 1mind. Drift is therefore not a platform teams are adopting. Most of the value in the numbers below is in the opposite direction: who is still running it, and what they move to.

Drift Usage Statistics

Our records place Drift on 7,899 active domains in August 2026, up from 7,338 in June. Counts are not a like-for-like series over time: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly discovered ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. Read the long-run shape as a trend rather than a same-domain comparison. The rise from 2016 to the early 2020s tracks Drift's real commercial run; the recent months reflect wider coverage on our side rather than a product that is winning new customers.

List of Companies Using Drift

Our verified list of companies using Drift on TechnologyChecker.io is built from domains where we recorded Drift's library actually being fetched, not merely referenced. That is a deliberate choice for this page: it excludes domains that keep a dormant snippet or an old domain-verification record, so the list reflects sites where the chat widget can still run.

Which Countries Use Drift the Most?

Which countries use Drift the most? The United States leads with 60.49% of enriched customers, one of the most concentrated distributions in the category. The United Kingdom (6.61%), Canada (5.38%), India (3.91%) and Australia (3.84%) follow. That skew is what you would expect from a product sold through a US-centric account-based marketing motion, and it means European and Asian coverage was always thin.

Drift Market Share Among Live Chat & Messaging

What is Drift's market share? Drift holds a 0.27% share of Live Chat & Messaging, ranking #25. The technologies above it are mostly a different kind of product: WhatsApp Business Chat (34.91%), Tawk.to (6.31%) and Joinchat (5.79%) are free or low-cost widgets that install on any small business site. Drift was priced and sold for business-to-business revenue teams, so its rank understates its standing among the buyers it actually competed for.

Drift Customers by Company Size & Age

Is Drift only for large enterprises? No. 55.12% of enriched Drift companies have fewer than 10 employees and 80.8% have fewer than 50, which sits oddly against Drift's reputation as an enterprise product. Two things explain it. Drift ran a free tier for years, and a large share of the small-company tail carries an installed snippet that no longer loads. The enterprise core is real but small: 4.23% of enriched companies have more than 1,000 staff.

What Industries Use Drift the Most?

Software Development leads at 11.3%, followed by Construction (9.23%) and IT Services and IT Consulting (7.04%). Construction ranking second is an artifact rather than a finding, and it is worth understanding before you filter on it. 403 of those 481 Construction domains are flooring and carpet dealers running a shared agency template whose Drift snippet no longer loads. Screen them out and the profile is a straightforward business-to-business technology mix.

Software and IT companies using Drift are the segment where the product is genuinely still in service, with Red Hat, Pure Storage, Confluent, Jamf, Smartsheet, Hyland and AVEVA all detected in our crawl. Advertising Services (5.16%) is the next most credible group, largely agencies that deployed Drift on behalf of clients. Financial Services (2.7%) and Real Estate (2.51%) round out the verticals with meaningful live usage.

Drift Alternatives & Competitors

Drift competes on a different axis from the technologies ranked above it, based on our market share data across 50M+ crawled domains. WhatsApp Business Chat, Tawk.to and Joinchat win on volume because they are free to install on any small site. Drift's real rival set is much narrower, and our churn data names it directly: Qualified is where departing Drift domains most often end up.

Drift Customer Migration

Across the last 90 days, 49 domains dropped Drift and now run Qualified, against 33 moving the other way. OpenAI-powered chat took 35 against 7 returning, and HubSpot Chat took 34 against 17. Read the Salesloft rows separately: Salesloft owns Drift, so those domains are consolidating onto one vendor's platform rather than switching away from it. Counts are domains, and a domain can run more than one chat tool at once.

Tech Stack of Drift-Powered Websites

Based on 5,811 enriched companies, Drift sites pair it most often with Google Analytics (82.92%) and Google Tag Manager (82.46%). The revealing numbers are further down: HubSpot (11.69%), Salesforce (5.31%), Marketo (4.34%) and 6sense (3.4%) confirm this is a business-to-business revenue stack rather than a support desk. Qualified appears on 1.72% of Drift domains, which is why single-direction switching counts overstate the corridor between the two.

Expert Analysis: Drift Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Sophie Clarke
Sophie ClarkeProduct Marketing Manager, TechnologyChecker

I'm Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io. Most of my work is migration analysis: which teams are leaving a platform, what they replace it with, and how much notice the data gives you. Drift is the clearest migration story in our index right now. This analysis covers 7,899 active Drift domains from our August 2026 crawl, 5,811 of which matched to a company record.

Read the number before you build a list from it

On most technology pages, detected and in use mean the same thing. On this one they do not, and anyone planning to prospect into this list needs the difference spelled out. We record Drift on a domain when we find its embed snippet, the JavaScript objects that snippet defines, or the DNS verification record customers add during onboarding. Those are three separate kinds of evidence, and on Drift they currently disagree with each other far more than they do on a healthy product.

We audited 44 randomly selected detected domains in a real browser. Where our crawl had recorded Drift's library being fetched over the network, 19 of 22 served a working widget. Where it had not, only 3 of 22 did. The remaining sites still carry Drift's snippet in their markup, but the object it creates has no loader attached, so the chat window cannot open however long a visitor waits, scrolls or clicks. The snippet is there. The product is not running.

"A tag is a claim, not a receipt. On a product still being sold the two line up closely enough that nobody has to think about it. On a product being retired, the gap between them is the whole story." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales Signal: Filter for live installs before you use this list. A domain with a dormant snippet is a company that already left Drift without recording the decision anywhere. That is a very different conversation from an account still running it.

The vendor has already moved on

Salesloft acquired Drift in 2024 and folded it into its revenue platform. Its Drift product page now opens by telling visitors it has transitioned from Drift to 1mind. There is no published hard end-of-life date and the product still runs for existing customers, but the direction is not ambiguous, and it should shape how you read every other number here. Nobody is running a competitive evaluation in 2026 that Drift wins.

One consequence for our own data is worth stating plainly. 1mind has no detection pattern in our index yet, so we cannot measure how many Drift customers took the vendor's recommended path. Absence of a signal is not evidence of absence. We are blind to that specific corridor, and saying so is better than letting a reader assume the migration is not happening.

Where teams actually go

Across the last 90 days we watched 49 domains drop Drift and appear running Qualified, the closest like-for-like competitor. OpenAI-powered chat took 35 and HubSpot Chat took 34. Those three account for most of the movement we can see.

Two cautions on reading that table. Salesloft appears on both sides of it, and those rows are not competitive switching at all: Salesloft owns Drift, so a domain dropping one tag while keeping the other is consolidating onto a single vendor. Separately, Drift and Qualified run together on 141 domains, so a single-direction count partly measures a co-deployment ending rather than a decision to switch. The net across genuine competitors is the number that matters, and it runs against Drift on nearly every corridor.

Sales Signal: The 30-day columns are the ones to work. Eighteen domains left Drift for Qualified in the last month alone, which means an evaluation is running right now at each of them.

The enterprise core is real, and smaller than the headline

Restrict the list to domains where we see Drift's library actually load and the names that remain are substantial: Hewlett Packard Enterprise, S&P Global, Rockwell Automation, Red Hat, Paychex, Corpay, Blue Yonder, AVEVA, Pure Storage, JCB, FICO, Confluent, Jamf and Quadient. The deployment pattern is consistent and tells you what the product was for: Drift sits on go.jcb.com, connect.aveva.com, cloud.redhat.com, university.hyland.com and locations.jeld-wen.com, campaign and portal subdomains rather than homepages.

Sales Signal: These accounts have a migration budget and a deadline they did not choose. Only 4.23% of enriched Drift companies have more than 1,000 staff, so this tier is small enough to work by hand and valuable enough to justify it.

Why Construction ranks second

Construction is the second largest industry on this page at 9.23%, which would be a strange result for a business-to-business conversational marketing tool. It is not a result. 403 of those 481 domains sit in the dormant-snippet group, and reading the domain names explains it in seconds: they are flooring and carpet dealers on a shared agency template carrying a Drift snippet that never loads. One agency decision years ago is being counted as several hundred current installs. Retail behaves the same way, with 269 of its 316 domains in the same group. Screen both out before you filter this page by industry.

What runs alongside Drift

Google Analytics (82.92%) and Google Tag Manager (82.46%) are near-universal and tell you nothing. The useful signal sits underneath: HubSpot on 11.69% of Drift domains, Salesforce on 5.31%, Marketo on 4.34%, Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement on 4.28% and 6sense on 3.4%. That is a revenue stack, not a support desk. Drift was bought to sit between a marketing automation platform and a CRM, which is precisely why replacing it is a project rather than a swap, and why these accounts move slowly.

Sales Signal: The 11.69% of Drift domains running HubSpot are the easiest replacements to predict, because HubSpot Chat is already bundled with what they own. Reach those accounts before the default wins by inertia.

The 2025 security incident

Between 8 and 18 August 2025, an intrusion set tracked by Google Threat Intelligence Group as UNC6395 used stolen OAuth tokens from Drift's Salesforce integration to query and export data from more than 700 organisations. Salesloft and Salesforce revoked all Drift OAuth tokens on 20 August 2025. The exposure was limited to data held in connected Salesforce instances, principally support cases, contacts and account records, rather than to the chat widget running on any website.

It belongs on this page for one practical reason. If you are working an account that still runs Drift, the integration surface is the part worth asking about, and it opens a more useful conversation than the chat widget does.

"The install base of a retired product is a queue. Every company on it has a decision to make, and most of them have not made it yet." - Sophie Clarke, Product Marketing Manager at TechnologyChecker.io

Key takeaways

Drift is detected on 7,899 domains, but a large share of those carry a dormant snippet or an old verification record rather than a running widget. 862 domains have dropped Drift since we began tracking it in March 2026. The vendor points its own customers at a different product. The enterprise core, concentrated in software, IT services and manufacturing, is the part of this list with both budget and urgency.

Sales applications

Treat this page as a migration list rather than a customer list. Prioritise live installs on campaign subdomains at companies above 200 staff, because those teams own a running programme they now have to rebuild. Use the Qualified, HubSpot Chat and OpenAI corridors to judge which replacement a given account is most likely to shortlist, then lead with the integration question rather than the widget. For a wider view of the category, the Live Chat & Messaging page ranks every tool we track.

Its chat widget qualifies website visitors in real time, books meetings directly into a sales representative's calendar, and routes recognised target accounts to the owner who covers them. It was designed to shorten the gap between a marketing campaign landing page and a booked sales conversation.

How many companies use Drift?

TechnologyChecker.io detects Drift on 7,899 active domains as of August 2026, of which 5,811 match to a company record. That figure counts every domain carrying a Drift signal. A meaningful share of them keep an installed snippet that no longer loads the chat widget, so treat the number as an install base rather than an active paying customer count.

Is Drift being discontinued?

Salesloft, which acquired Drift in 2024, now states on its own product page that it has transitioned from Drift to a product called 1mind. No hard end-of-life date has been published and Drift still runs for existing customers, but the vendor is clearly directing new and existing buyers elsewhere. Treat Drift as a platform to migrate off rather than onto.

What companies use Drift?

Hewlett Packard Enterprise, S&P Global, Rockwell Automation, Red Hat, Paychex, Corpay, Blue Yonder, AVEVA, Pure Storage, JCB, FICO, Confluent, Jamf, Smartsheet and Quadient all show Drift loading on at least one property. Deployments cluster on campaign and portal subdomains such as go, connect and cloud rather than on corporate homepages.

What are the best Drift alternatives?

Qualified is the closest like-for-like replacement and the most common destination in our churn data. HubSpot Chat suits teams already on HubSpot, since it is bundled with a platform they own. Intercom covers support and sales together. Salesloft points its own customers to 1mind, which we cannot yet measure because it has no detection pattern.

Where do companies go when they leave Drift?

Across the last 90 days, 49 domains dropped Drift and now run Qualified, 35 moved to OpenAI-powered chat and 34 moved to HubSpot Chat. Smaller numbers went to WhatsApp Business Chat and Intercom. Salesloft also appears in the table, but because Salesloft owns Drift those domains are consolidating onto a single vendor's platform rather than switching to a rival.

What happened in the Salesloft Drift security incident?

Between 8 and 18 August 2025, an intrusion set that Google Threat Intelligence Group tracks as UNC6395 used stolen OAuth tokens from Drift's Salesforce integration to export data from more than 700 organisations. Salesloft and Salesforce revoked all Drift OAuth tokens on 20 August 2025. Exposure was limited to connected Salesforce data, not the website chat widget.

Which industries use Drift?

Software Development leads at 11.3%, followed by Construction at 9.23% and IT Services and IT Consulting at 7.04%. The Construction figure is misleading: 403 of those 481 domains are flooring and carpet dealers running a shared agency template whose Drift snippet no longer loads. Software, IT services and advertising hold the genuine live usage.

What software is used alongside Drift?

Google Analytics appears on 82.92% of Drift domains and Google Tag Manager on 82.46%. More usefully, HubSpot runs on 11.69%, Salesforce on 5.31%, Marketo on 4.34% and 6sense on 3.4%. That combination identifies a business-to-business revenue stack, and it explains why replacing Drift is an integration project rather than a simple widget swap.

How can I tell if a website is running Drift?

Open the site and look for a network request to js.driftt.com in your browser's developer tools. A page can define a Drift JavaScript object without ever fetching that library, which means the snippet is installed but the widget cannot open. Some organisations also keep a drift-domain-verification DNS record long after removing the product.

Is Drift still worth buying in 2026?

For a new purchase, no. The vendor has publicly moved to a successor product, active development has ended, and our churn data shows 862 domains dropping Drift since March 2026. Existing customers still running it have time to plan, but should treat replacement as a scheduled project rather than something to revisit at renewal.
