Companies Using Dreamweaver
Our October 2026 crawl finds Dreamweaver code on 76,872 domains. That isn't 76,872 Dreamweaver licences. A domain counts when its pages still define the JavaScript functions Dreamweaver writes into a page, such as MM_preloadImages, or carry Dreamweaver's generator tag, and much of that code was written years ago. Below is the list of companies that use Dreamweaver, or at least still serve its code, with size, country and industry. It includes The UPS Store, ICBC, Pampered Chef and the University of Maryland's registrar site.
Dreamweaver ranks 5th in Developer Tooling with 4.19%, in a category otherwise led by build tools such as Webpack, Babel and Vite. The companies behind it are old and small: 50.69% of matched companies were founded before 2000, against a median of 23.37% across the 554 technology profiles we publish, and 70.79% have 10 or fewer staff. Adobe still sells the editor, for US$22.99 a month as part of Creative Cloud.

Dreamweaver Usage Statistics
Our crawl reads 64,014 Dreamweaver domains in June 2026, 74,285 in July, 75,278 in August, 76,742 in September and 76,872 in October. The extra 10,271 domains between June and July aren't 10,271 new Dreamweaver sites. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time, so that step reflects changes on our side rather than new adoption. Since September the gain is 130. 6,897 domains have dropped Dreamweaver code since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and about 830 of those still carry it on another hostname.

Which Countries Use Dreamweaver the Most?
Which countries use Dreamweaver the most? The United States, with 21,533 matched companies, then Germany (5,430), the United Kingdom (3,362), India (2,613), Brazil (2,182) and Canada (2,149). Germany is the one to notice. Dreamweaver has one German company for every 3.97 American ones; across the 520 technology profiles we publish with both countries, the median is one for every 10.41. Italy (1,351) and Spain (1,291) also make the top ten. These counts cover the 55,150 domains we matched to a company.
Share of the 55,150 Dreamweaver domains we matched to a company record — 71.7% of the 76,872 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
Dreamweaver Market Share Among Developer Tooling
What is Dreamweaver's market share? 4.19% of Developer Tooling, 5th in the category, based on our live crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. The number is real but the comparison is odd. The category's other leaders, such as Webpack, Babel and Vite, are build tools that leave traces in a site's bundled JavaScript, and none of them competes with an HTML editor. Read 4.19% as how often Dreamweaver's code still turns up among developer-tool detections, not as a share of web design software.
Dreamweaver Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use Dreamweaver? Mostly very small ones. 70.79% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 17.76% have 11 to 50, so 88.55% have 50 staff or fewer. That fits a brochure site built once and left alone. 494 companies have more than 1,000 staff, and at those the code usually sits on one older application rather than the main site: a registrar, an order portal, a donation page.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The companies are old. The largest group was founded in the 2000s (29.52%), then the 2010s (17.62%) and the 1990s (17.16%). 50.69% were founded before 2000, more than twice the median of 23.37% across the 554 technology profiles we publish, and 11.39% before 1960. Only 2.17% date from the 2020s, where the median profile has 17.51%. A company founded this decade has little reason to have Dreamweaver-era code on its site.
What Industries Use Dreamweaver the Most?
Construction leads at 5.6%, then Retail (5.06%), Individual and Family Services (3.12%) and Real Estate (2.97%), based on our enriched company data. No industry reaches 6%, and the ten charted add up to 29.75% of matched companies. No sector dominates. What the list shares is age: websites that haven't been rebuilt in a long time.
Schools using Dreamweaver code often get it from their platform. Edlio, a school website builder, runs on 2.48% of Dreamweaver domains, and its shared JavaScript still defines the MM_ functions on Kern High School District's and Poway Unified's sites. Nonprofits on Dreamweaver code include the American Heart Association, CARE and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, whose donation pages run on Blackbaud's Luminate Online and load the same old utility script. Construction companies using Dreamweaver code are the largest single industry, at 5.6%.
Dreamweaver Customer Migration
Did Dreamweaver sites move to Squarespace? Some did, by rebuilding. 52 domains dropped Dreamweaver code while running Squarespace, 34 of them in the last 90 days and 8 in the last 30, against 9 the other way. We loaded 10 of the 52 and all are Squarespace sites now; the five we tested had no MM_ functions left. They're small businesses, among them a law firm, a chiropractor, a Chinese restaurant and an electrical contractor, replacing a Dreamweaver-era site with a hosted builder. These are domain counts, and Squarespace is the only pair that passed our switching tests.

Percentages here are of the 76,853 live Dreamweaver domains left after we removed for-sale and gambling pages. jQuery runs on 52.15%, with jQuery UI on 16.13% and jQuery Migrate, the plug-in that keeps old jQuery code working, on 11.34%. Google Analytics is on 41.56%. Hosting shows the age of the setup: GoDaddy hosts 9.44% and the Plesk control panel runs on 5.18%, while Apache serves about 42% and IIS about 8%. WordPress appears on 4.49%, Edlio's school sites on 2.48% and FrontPage markers on 0.59%.

Expert Analysis: Dreamweaver Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I've spent most of my career on crawlers, and Dreamweaver is a detection that measures history more than software purchases. A domain counts here when its pages define one of the JavaScript functions Dreamweaver inserts (MM_preloadImages, MM_showHideLayers or MM_showMenu) or carry a generator tag naming Adobe Dreamweaver. As of our October 2026 crawl that's 76,872 domains, 55,150 of them matched to a company, 5th in Developer Tooling. It's a count of code that is still being served, not of people who still open the editor.
What the count measures
I loaded the top of our company list in a headless browser. On most pages the functions don't sit in the HTML at all. They live in a shared JavaScript file: a base script at The UPS Store and Hartford Hospital, a common script at ICBC, a Joomla template's utilities file at Jana Small Finance Bank. Some platforms ship them to every customer. Edlio school sites carry them in Edlio's common script pack, and Edlio runs on 2.48% of Dreamweaver domains. Blackbaud Luminate Online donation pages load them from a utils.js file, and Jenzabar student portals and Talentsoft careers sites from their own bundles. None of these is large. Edlio, the biggest platform, is 2.48%, and the biggest family of identical sites, an Italian travel-agent network called Evolution Travel, is 531 domains, about 0.7%.
Sales signal: on a small business's own domain, Dreamweaver code is a reliable flag for a site that hasn't been rebuilt in years. On a platform-hosted page, it tells you about the platform, not the customer.
Growth trajectory
The chart reads 64,014 in June 2026, then 74,285, 75,278, 76,742 and 76,872 in October. The June to July jump of 10,271 isn't a Dreamweaver revival. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widen over time, so that step reflects changes on our side. The last month added 130. Since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, 6,897 domains have dropped Dreamweaver code, and about 830 of those still carry it on another hostname.
"A rollover script written in Dreamweaver keeps running until someone rebuilds the site. On 76,872 domains, nobody has yet." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: this pool shrinks only when a site is rebuilt, which makes every domain on it a rebuild prospect rather than a software prospect. Agencies and website builders should read it as a list of overdue redesigns.
Who runs these sites
Very small, long-established businesses. 70.79% of matched companies have 1 to 10 employees and 88.55% have 50 or fewer. Age is where Dreamweaver stands apart: 50.69% were founded before 2000, against a median of 23.37% across the 554 technology profiles we publish, and only 2.17% in the 2020s. The 494 companies above 1,000 staff mostly carry the code on one corner of their estate. 32 of the 50 in our top list were detected on a subdomain: the University of Maryland's registrar, Arista's order portal, Wiley's Singapore customer site, Dassault Aviation's careers site. The UPS Store, ICBC, Pampered Chef and Sinar Mas carry it on their main sites.
Sales signal: at a large account, the owner of the Dreamweaver page is typically an application team (admissions, ordering, recruiting, fundraising), not the web team. Find the application first.
Germany, and a flat industry mix
The United States leads with 21,533 matched companies, but Germany is second with 5,430, ahead of the United Kingdom (3,362) and India (2,613). That's one German company for every 3.97 American ones; the median across the 520 profiles we publish with both countries is one for every 10.41. Industry is flat. Construction leads at 5.6%, then Retail (5.06%), Individual and Family Services (3.12%) and Real Estate (2.97%), and the ten charted industries add up to 29.75%.
Sales signal: for a rebuild offer, Germany is where this list runs densest compared with our other profiles, so budget for German-language outreach. Industry is a weak filter here; country and company age are stronger ones.
Where the sites go
One switching pair passed our tests. 52 domains dropped Dreamweaver code while running Squarespace, 34 of them in the last 90 days and 8 in the last 30, against 9 the other way. I loaded 10 of the 52: every one is a Squarespace site now, and the five I checked had no MM_ functions left. They're small businesses, among them a Highland games, an environmental consultancy, a law firm and an electrical contractor. WordPress is a different story. 6,170 domains have been seen with both, and 3,636 still run both, because old Dreamweaver pages tend to survive inside a WordPress site rather than being replaced by it. The Wix and GoDaddy Website Builder pairs didn't pass either; 807 of the 916 domains ever seen with Dreamweaver code and GoDaddy Website Builder still have both.
"When a Dreamweaver site moves, it moves to a hosted builder and the old code goes with it. When it moves to WordPress, the old pages often come along." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: for a builder, the 52 Squarespace rebuilds show the buyer: a small firm replacing a site it can no longer edit. For a WordPress agency, the 3,636 sites still mixing both are a clean-up job waiting to be quoted.
The stack around it
Percentages here are of the 76,853 live Dreamweaver domains left after we removed for-sale and gambling pages. jQuery runs on 52.15%, jQuery UI on 16.13% and jQuery Migrate on 11.34%. Apache serves about 42% of these domains, PHP about 20%, Microsoft ASP.NET about 10% and IIS about 8%. GoDaddy hosts 9.44% and the Plesk control panel runs on 5.18%, with IONOS (2.47%), OVHcloud (1.39%) and Aruba.it (1.38%) behind them. Bootstrap is on 15.26% and Tailwind CSS on only 1.86%.
Sales signal: shared hosting and a jQuery-era front end make these sites good targets for managed hosting, security and accessibility offers, all of which tend to start with "your site is out of date".
Key takeaways
1. 76,872 domains still serve Dreamweaver's code; that is a count of pages, not licences.
2. Old, small companies: 50.69% founded before 2000 and 70.79% with 1 to 10 staff.
3. Germany is unusually large, at one German company for every 3.97 American ones.
4. The one clean exit is a rebuild on Squarespace, 52 domains against 9.
5. Platforms such as Edlio still carry the code for their customers, so check before you assume.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses Dreamweaver?
Mostly small, older businesses whose websites were built years ago, plus single departments of large organisations. Our October 2026 crawl finds Dreamweaver's code on 76,872 domains; 70.79% of matched companies have 1 to 10 staff and 50.69% were founded before 2000. Named examples include The UPS Store, ICBC, Pampered Chef and the University of Maryland's registrar site.
How many customers does Dreamweaver have?
We can't count Dreamweaver licences from the web, and Adobe's product page gives no user count. What we count is pages carrying Dreamweaver's code: 76,872 domains in October 2026, 55,150 of them matched to a company. Many of those sites were built years ago and haven't been rebuilt since. 6,897 domains have dropped the code since March 2026.
What is Dreamweaver's market share?
4.19% of Developer Tooling, where it ranks 5th, on 76,872 domains. That category is mostly build tools such as Webpack, Babel and Vite, which leave traces in modern JavaScript bundles and don't compete with an HTML editor. So read 4.19% as how often Dreamweaver's code turns up among developer-tool detections in our crawl, not as a share of web design software.
Which countries use Dreamweaver the most?
The United States, with 21,533 matched companies, then Germany (5,430), the United Kingdom (3,362), India (2,613), Brazil (2,182) and Canada (2,149). Germany stands out: one German company for every 3.97 American ones, against a median of one for every 10.41 across the 520 profiles we publish with both countries. These counts cover the 55,150 domains matched to a company.
What size companies use Dreamweaver?
Mostly very small ones. 70.79% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 17.76% have 11 to 50, so 88.55% have 50 staff or fewer. 494 have more than 1,000, and at those the code usually lives on one older application, such as Arista's order portal or the University of Maryland's registrar site, rather than the main website.
How old are companies that use Dreamweaver?
Older than most. The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2000s (29.52%), and 50.69% of those with a known founding year predate 2000, against a median of 23.37% across the 554 technology profiles we publish. 11.39% were founded before 1960. Only 2.17% date from the 2020s, where the median profile has 17.51%.
What is the ideal customer profile for Dreamweaver?
The ideal Dreamweaver customer is: Company Size: 1-10 employees (70.79%), Location: US, then Germany, UK, India, Founded: 2000s, and 50.69% before 2000, Industry: Construction, retail, real estate, services, Site stack: jQuery site on Apache hosting — based on our analysis of 55,150 enriched companies at TechnologyChecker.io.
What are the best alternatives to Dreamweaver?
For hand-coding, any modern code editor. For no-code sites, the builders our data shows Dreamweaver sites moving to: 52 domains dropped Dreamweaver code while running Squarespace, against 9 the other way. WordPress, Wix and GoDaddy Website Builder often sit beside old Dreamweaver pages without replacing them; 3,636 domains run Dreamweaver code and WordPress today.
Is anyone still using Dreamweaver?
Adobe still sells it, and its code is still live across a lot of the web. Our October 2026 crawl finds Dreamweaver's JavaScript or generator tag on 76,872 domains. That measures pages, not people: most of those sites were built years ago. Wikipedia lists a Dreamweaver 21.8.1 release in July 2026, so Adobe still updates the editor too.
Can I use Dreamweaver for free?
Only as a trial. Adobe's Dreamweaver page offers a free trial and sells the app as part of Creative Cloud for US$22.99 a month, checked 12 October 2026. The code it wrote is another matter: it keeps running on a page long after the licence that produced it has lapsed, which is why our 76,872 domains are far from a count of paying users.
Is Adobe phasing out Dreamweaver?
Not as of October 2026. Adobe's product page still sells Dreamweaver for US$22.99 a month with a free trial, and Wikipedia lists version 21.8.1 from July 2026. On the web its code is fading slowly: 6,897 domains dropped it since March 2026, while our October count is 76,872, a total that moves with the domains we crawl as well as with real removals.
Which is better, Dreamweaver or WordPress?
They do different jobs: Dreamweaver edits files, WordPress runs the site. In our data they live together more than they compete. 6,170 domains have been seen with both Dreamweaver code and WordPress, and 3,636 still run both, usually an old page or template left inside a WordPress site. Moving to WordPress often leaves Dreamweaver code behind.
What is MM_preloadImages?
MM_preloadImages is one of the JavaScript functions Dreamweaver writes into a page when a designer adds a behaviour such as an image rollover, named like the others with an MM prefix from the Macromedia days. Finding it on a live page is how we detect most Dreamweaver sites. It's harmless but dated, and pages carrying it tend not to have been rebuilt in years.
Does Dreamweaver code mean a site was built in Dreamweaver?
Not always. Some platforms still ship Dreamweaver's functions in their own shared scripts, so every site on them carries the code. Edlio, a school website builder, runs on 2.48% of the Dreamweaver domains we count, and Blackbaud Luminate Online donation pages and Talentsoft careers sites load the same functions. On a small business's own site, the code most likely does point back to the editor.
Is Adobe Dreamweaver outdated?
The sites carrying its code mostly are. Half the companies behind Dreamweaver domains were founded before 2000, only 2.17% in the 2020s, jQuery runs on 52.15% of the domains and Apache serves about 42%. The editor itself is still sold and updated: Adobe lists it at US$22.99 a month, and Wikipedia records a July 2026 release.
