Companies Using Cloudflare Zaraz

I run the crawler behind these numbers, and Zaraz is unusual among the tools in this category because the site owner never adds its code. When Zaraz is on, Cloudflare rewrites each HTML page as it passes through and adds an inline script that defines a zaraz object and calls /cdn-cgi/zaraz/s.js on the site's own domain. Our rule reads that object. Our October 2026 crawl finds 26,318 live domains exposing it, 13,868 of them matched to a company, 10th of 45 in Performance Optimization.

We also loaded all 90 candidate company pages in mid-October 2026. 64 exposed Zaraz. Seven loaded without it, and 19 sat behind bot walls or timed out, many of them Cloudflare's own challenge, which is what you'd expect from a list of Cloudflare customers.

What the zaraz object tells you

It tells you the site is served through Cloudflare and has Zaraz switched on. Cloudflare's Zaraz FAQ says it loads only when the domain is proxied by Cloudflare, auto-injection is on and at least one tool is enabled. It doesn't tell you which tools run. The same FAQ says Zaraz loads tools server-side, so browser code, including ours, can't see them.

Three groups in the count need a word. 211 domains showed our crawler SiteGround's "Robot Challenge Screen", that host's anti-bot page. Cloudflare added Zaraz to the challenge page as it passed through, and the sites behind it are real: five of the seven we rechecked loaded normally as businesses running Zaraz. Separately, 38 domains redirect to NameSilo's home page, and most of 59 domains titled "Cloudflare DNS" are Cloudflare's own nameserver hostnames that lead to its DNS page; our crawler found Zaraz on the pages they land on. Together those two groups are under 0.4% of the clean set.

Sales signal: a Zaraz domain is a Cloudflare customer that has moved at least one tag server-side. That's a team thinking about page speed and data control at the same time.

The chart is mostly coverage

The chart reads 17,536 in June, 23,196 in July, 24,159 in August, 25,673 in September and 26,318 in October. The June to July jump is mostly ours: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection widens over time. The later months rise more slowly, and the same two effects run through them.

Since we began tracking Zaraz on 16 March 2026, 5,608 domains have dropped it. A few days after that figure was taken, 496 of 5,610 such domains still ran it on another hostname, about one in eleven.

Sales signal: the base is settled. Churn of 5,608 domains in seven months means a steady stream of sites leaving Zaraz, and they still need a tag manager.

Who holds the account

Because Zaraz is switched on per Cloudflare zone, the buyer is whoever runs that zone. Sometimes that's a parent: Arby's, Buffalo Wild Wings and Dunkin' all expose Zaraz, and all three belong to Inspire Brands. Sometimes it's a platform. All 437 stores we detect on Olist's e-commerce platform, formerly Vnda, expose Zaraz, 1.69% of clean live Zaraz domains. Milestone's CMS shows on 2.91%, about a third of every Milestone site we detect, and our sample of those runs from California hotels to Renault and Nissan dealers in Mexico. Some customers serve Zaraz to their other domains from one host: bitdefender.com does it for 28 domains and z.betterhelp.com for 20. No single platform or account reaches 5% of the clean set.

Sales signal: for platform stores and agency-built sites, the decision sits with the platform or agency. One sale there can cover hundreds of sites.

Who runs it

58.01% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 26.85% have 11 to 50. The base is young: 25.49% were founded in the 2020s, against 14.31% for Autoptimize and 16.87% for EWWW Image Optimizer. The industries are more technical too. IT services, internet and software companies add up to 16.78%, and retail (4.51%) and hospitality (3.08%) follow. Unlike the WordPress plugins, Zaraz tends to sit on the main site: arbys.com, betterhelp.com, alixpartners.com, federalreserve.gov.

Sales signal: expect a marketing or growth team that works in the Cloudflare dashboard, not a WordPress admin. Lead with measurement and consent.

Where it runs

The United States has 4,322 matched companies, nearly four times the United Kingdom (1,099). Brazil is third with 959, India fourth with 651 and Australia fifth with 624. The US, UK, Australia and Canada together hold 6,533 of the 13,868 matched companies, or 47.1%. Germany has only 276, 8th place, where it's often first or second on the WordPress plugin pages in this category.

Sales signal: English-speaking markets and Brazil carry this list. German companies on Cloudflare mostly aren't using Zaraz, which makes Germany either an untapped market for Zaraz or one where other tag managers already hold the ground.

Beside Google Tag Manager, not instead

These percentages are of the 25,841 clean live Zaraz domains. Google Tag Manager runs on 56.23%, Google Analytics on 52.39% and Cloudflare Browser Insights on 69.27%. DoubleClick Floodlight shows on 15.95% and Google AdSense on 6.51%. 16.52% also run Rocket Loader, which Cloudflare's Zaraz FAQ recommends turning off when using Zaraz. WordPress is on only 37.31%. The plugin rows in Zaraz's competitor table barely overlap with it: 303 domains run it with Perfmatters today and 296 with Autoptimize.

Sales signal: a site running Zaraz and Google Tag Manager together has two places to manage tags. A server-side tagging or consent vendor can sell the clean-up.

What it costs

Cloudflare bought Zaraz on 8 December 2021, its first acquisition of a company built on Cloudflare Workers. Its pricing page (checked October 2026) says every Cloudflare account gets 1,000,000 Zaraz events a month free, on any plan, and Zaraz Paid costs $5 a month for each additional 1,000,000. Without Paid, Zaraz switches off until the next billing cycle once the free allowance is used.

Sales signal: for most small sites Zaraz is free, so the pitch against it can't be price. Busy sites pay by event volume, and that's when tag management costs start to show.
