Companies Using NextGEN Gallery

Our October 2026 crawl finds NextGEN Gallery on 23,180 live domains, 5th of 29 in our Photo Galleries table. This is Imagely's WordPress gallery plugin, not the healthcare software company. Below is the list of companies that use NextGEN Gallery, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Sparkasse Freiburg's local blog, the City of Vienna's 48er-Tandler second-hand shop, the City of Winter Park in Florida and the University of Bucharest.

Our catalog lists NextGEN Gallery twice, and this page uses the newer rule. The older row (16,565 domains) sits almost entirely inside this one: 15,922 domains carry both. Its users are smaller, and fewer are new businesses, than on our other three gallery-plugin profiles: 75.54% of matched companies have 1 to 10 employees, against 65.68% to 68.01% elsewhere, and only 4.2% were founded in the 2020s.

NextGEN Gallery Usage Statistics

NextGEN Gallery reads 20,480 live domains in June 2026, 21,776 in July, 21,325 in August, 22,483 in September and 23,180 in October. Neither the rise nor the August dip is a change in demand. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection changed over the same months. Since we began tracking the plugin in March 2026, 3,337 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname; when we rechecked, 472 of those still loaded it on another hostname.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

The 2010s are the largest founding decade at 31.79%, then the 2000s at 27.14%, a bigger 2000s share than on our other three gallery-plugin profiles (21.17% to 22.56%). Only 4.2% were founded in the 2020s, against 10.96% for FooGallery. That fits a plugin listed on wordpress.org since 2007: many of these sites were probably built years ago and kept it.

Photo Gallery by 10Web shares 334 and Responsive Lightbox & Gallery 260, while Slider Revolution sits on 1,967, 8.49% of the 23,178 domains we checked for co-installed technology. Most domains ever seen with any of these pairs still run both, which fails our switching tests. Expert Analysis: NextGEN Gallery Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Emma Davies
Emma DaviesData Analyst, TechnologyChecker

NextGEN Gallery is the oldest of the four gallery plugins I profiled: its wordpress.org listing dates from April 2007, Imagely develops it, and Imagely says it's part of the Awesome Motive family. A domain counts here when its pages load files from the plugin's folder, or from NextGEN Pro's or Plus's. Our October 2026 crawl finds 23,180 live domains, 5th of 29 in Photo Galleries and 3rd among distinct gallery plugins, with 14,021 matched to a company.

One product, two rows

Our catalog has a second, older rule for the same plugin, listed as "NextGEN Gallery" with 16,565 domains, 6th in the table. It reads the plugin's script path and meta tag. 15,922 domains carry both rules, about 96% of the older row, so it adds almost nothing this page doesn't already count. Never add the two together, and don't read the 6th row as a rival.

Sales signal: size the NextGEN market at about 23,000 live domains, not the nearly 40,000 you'd get by summing both rows.

Half installs, half galleries

I opened 45 random live domains. 41 home pages loaded NextGEN, and 20 of those showed a gallery, slideshow or gallery widget. That's between Photo Gallery by 10Web (4 of 34) and FooGallery (34 of 42). Some NextGEN files load site-wide, so the count mixes sites showing galleries with sites that only have it installed. 8 of the 41 also loaded NextGEN Pro, Imagely's paid plugin, and on four of them the home page ran little more than its Instagram or Dribbble link scripts.

Sales signal: about one site in five shows a paid NextGEN install, a much easier upgrade or replacement conversation than with free-only users.

Steady, with a dip that's ours

The chart reads 20,480 in June, 21,776 in July, 21,325 in August, 22,483 in September and 23,180 in October. Neither the rise nor the August dip is demand: the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection changed over the same months. 3,337 domains have dropped NextGEN on at least one hostname since we began tracking it in March 2026, and when I rechecked, 472 of them still loaded it on another hostname.

"NextGEN's customers are the smallest of the four gallery plugins I profiled, and the least likely to be new. Three in four have ten or fewer staff, and only 4.2% were founded this decade." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: this is a mature, stable base. Expect replacement cycles and site rebuilds, not a wave of new installs.

Small, long-established customers

75.54% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, against 65.68% to 68.01% on the other three gallery-plugin profiles. The 2000s account for 27.14% of founding years, the highest of the four, and only 4.2% date from the 2020s. There are 66 companies above 1,000 staff, and they usually run NextGEN on a side site: Sparkasse Freiburg's lokalist blog, the City of Vienna's 48er-Tandler shop, the University of Bucharest's anniversary site, Enerpac's blog.

Sales signal: the typical NextGEN owner is a sole trader or tiny firm whose site was built years ago. Rebuild, hosting-migration and care-plan offers fit better than enterprise software.

Photographers and property sites

Construction leads at 9.01%, but photography is 2nd at 4.29%, against 2.76% on FooGallery's profile and outside the top ten on the other two. Real estate is 7th at 3.17%, and about 190 property sites load iHomefinder IDX beside NextGEN. In my sample, one music photographer's site carried NextGEN Pro's print price lists and cart.

Sales signal: for print labs, proofing tools, client-gallery platforms and photography-business software, NextGEN's list is the best-targeted of the four, by industry mix.

Where they are

The United States has 4,572 matched companies, then Germany (1,978), the United Kingdom (1,055), Italy (687) and the Netherlands (524). Germany's ratio, about two companies for every five American ones, is higher than Photo Gallery by 10Web's and lower than Responsive Lightbox & Gallery's. Italy ranks 4th here, ahead of its place on the other three profiles, and Hungary (122) makes the top 15.

Sales signal: German and Italian agencies will find NextGEN sites a solid local list of small owners with ageing WordPress builds.

Next to the other gallery plugins

There's no migration table on this page. Slider Revolution shares the most sites with NextGEN: 1,967, 8.49% of the 23,178 we checked for co-installed technology. The gallery rivals share far fewer, 334 for Photo Gallery by 10Web, 260 for Responsive Lightbox & Gallery and 29 for FooGallery. Most domains ever seen with a pair still run both, so none passes our switching tests. FooGallery's free version ships a migrator for NextGEN galleries, yet we don't see sites moving over in any number.

"Only 29 domains run NextGEN and FooGallery together, and we see no corridor between them. NextGEN sites mostly stay NextGEN sites." - Emma Davies, Data Analyst at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: rival gallery vendors face a sticky base. The opening is a full site rebuild, when the gallery gets chosen again.

The stack around it

Shares are of the 23,178 domains above. Page builders are rare: Elementor is on 8.87% and Divi on 4.76%, against 34.34% Elementor on FooGallery's domains. Slick loads on 21.16% and jQuery UI on 24.32%. Google Analytics runs on 42.07%, and consent tools are thin, with CookieYes on 4.87% and Cookie Notice on 3.84%.

Sales signal: low page-builder and consent-tool rates point to older, hand-maintained sites. For consent vendors, neither CookieYes nor Cookie Notice reaches 5% here, so the field is open.

Is NextGEN Gallery the same as NextGen Healthcare?

No. NextGEN Gallery is a WordPress gallery plugin made by Imagely. NextGen Healthcare is an unrelated health-records software company that shares the name in search results. Why is NextGEN Gallery listed twice in the Photo Galleries category?

Our catalog has two rules for it. This page uses the newer one, which matches the plugin's files, NextGEN Pro and Plus included, on 23,180 domains. The older row, "NextGEN Gallery" with 16,565 domains, reads the plugin's script path and meta tag. 15,922 domains carry both, so the older row sits almost entirely inside this one.

We can't rate quality, but we can count use. More than with its rivals. Photography is NextGEN Gallery's second industry at 4.29% of matched companies, against 2.76% on FooGallery's profile, and it sits outside the top ten on Photo Gallery by 10Web's.
