Companies Using Master Slider

Master Slider sits in our Photo Galleries category, but when I opened the sites it's almost always the rotating banner at the top of a homepage. Our October 2026 crawl finds it on 42,351 domains, 25,793 of them matched to a company, 4th of 29 in the category. A domain counts when a page creates the MasterSlider script object, which only the library itself does, so wrong-product matches aren't the issue. The question is who chose it. To answer that I took 160 random live domains and read where each one loads the slider from.

Who put it there

142 of the 160 answered. 89 ran WordPress: 47 loaded Master Slider from the Pro plugin's folder, 32 from the free WordPress.org plugin, 7 from a copy inside the theme, and 3 from another plugin or a combined file. 11 were OpenCart stores on the Journal 3 theme, which keeps its own copy under the theme's lib/masterslider folder. 26 were other sites with their own copy, including three built on the same platform (their files load from media.getmood.io) and an Italian hotel whose booking-engine provider serves the slider, and 16 showed no Master Slider file on the home page. Across the whole live set, 5,380 of 40,845 domains in an October check run OpenCart (13.2%). That's the largest single carrier, and it's under a seventh of the count.

The Pro folder needs care. Averta's pricing page offers an in-stock licence for developers who include it in a product they sell, and themes install their bundled copy into the same folder a buyer's copy uses. Of the 47 Pro sites, many run premium themes such as SEO WP (5), averta's own Phlox Pro (4) and HotelMaster (3), so some of those 47 never bought Master Slider directly. I can't tell which from the page.

Sales signal: only about one in five sites in the sample, 32 of 142, run the free plugin a site owner would install unprompted. The rest came with a theme or an agency build, so pitch the site owner on the site, not on the slider.

Flat since July

The chart reads 34,789 in June, 39,772 in July, 41,379 in August, 42,472 in September and 42,351 in October. The June-to-July jump is our side: the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection widened over the summer. Since then it's flat. 6,038 domains dropped it on at least one hostname since March 2026, and 1,270 of those still ran it on another hostname in mid-October, so about 4,800 domains left it entirely in seven months. Only 200 of those dropped it for Slider Revolution, so most look like redesigns or closed sites rather than a move to a rival.

Sales signal: a Master Slider homepage is often an older build. For a web agency, that's a redesign lead, and the version data below helps pick the oldest.

Old copies everywhere

The free plugin is maintained: its WordPress.org page was last updated on 8 October 2026 and lists version 3.11.5, which ships library version 2.85.13. But of the 39,092 domains where we read a version, only 12,791 run 2.85.13. The next biggest, 2.51.2, is on 5,894 domains, and 4,198 of those are OpenCart stores, the Journal 3 copy. Many WordPress themes still carry versions from years earlier.

Sales signal: sites on an old theme-bundled copy can't update it on their own. Maintenance and security retainers fit them better than another plugin does.

Who the customers are

60.97% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.28% have 11 to 50. Retail leads the industries at 5.68%, then construction (4.61%) and hospitality (3.42%), and none reaches 6%. Only 6.45% were founded in the 2020s. The larger names are usually one property: George Mason University's orientation site, Amneal's India site, Elgi's blog, Ferretti Group's pre-owned yachts. NV5, Credit Agricole Egypt, Windsor Regional Hospital and NORMA run it on their main sites.

Sales signal: at large organisations, find the team that owns the specific site. The slider was an agency's choice for that site, not a company standard.

An international base

The United States has 4,438 matched companies, Germany 2,055, the United Kingdom 1,688, Brazil 1,670, India 1,580, Turkey 1,206 and Italy 1,072. The US is only about one in six of the 25,793 matched companies. Brazil, India and Turkey together match the US, which is what you'd expect from a cheap slider that ships inside themes bought worldwide.

Sales signal: a Portuguese, Turkish or Hindi-language pitch reaches a real share of this list. English alone misses most of it.

Beside Slider Revolution

Slider Revolution is on 1,306,433 domains, about 31 times Master Slider's count, and 4,000 domains run both today. Of 4,695 domains ever seen with both, 85.2% still have both, so our switching test doesn't publish a corridor. In the 90 days to mid-October, 173 domains that dropped Master Slider ran Slider Revolution and 78 went the other way. Those are small numbers on a base of 42,351, and many of them are redesigns that kept one slider and dropped the other. Gallery plugins overlap too: Responsive Lightbox & Gallery on 476 shared domains and Photo Gallery by 10Web on 340.

Sales signal: a site loading two slider libraries is carrying extra weight. Performance work is an easy opener there.

The stack around it

jQuery is on every Master Slider domain, because the slider needs it. WordPress runs on 57.54% of the 40,793 live domains, Elementor on 14.1% and WPBakery on 4.74%. Modernizr (56.37%) and Masonry (30.74%) point to older multipurpose themes. Consent tools are thin, with CookieYes the most common at 3.74%.

Sales signal: in Germany and Italy, a Master Slider site with no consent banner is a compliance conversation waiting to happen.
