Companies Using Yext

Yext sells listings, location pages, reviews and search, and one host, assets.sitescdn.net, delivers the website files for several of them. A domain counts on this page when it loads anything from that host. Our crawl found 2,593 live domains in October 2026; after cutting four customers' own domain fleets to one domain each, this page counts 1,728, 1,089 of them matched to a company. I opened all 50 company pages here and split the count by the file each site loads, and the split changes what the number means.

Two products on one host

Of the 1,728 domains, 717 load Yext's search bar or search interface, the files Yext's help centre tells developers to add from /answers-search-bar/ and /answers/. 770 load only ytag. That file is a conversion tag. It sets a cookie and reports to Yext's conversion-tracking endpoint, so a brand can tie interactions with Yext products to sales or calls on its site. 60 load something else, mostly Yext's chat assistant, landing pages or an analytics file, and for 181 we didn't log the file. On the 1,547 where we did, search is 46.3% and ytag-only 49.8%.

Sales signal: if you sell site search, filter to the 717 search domains. The ytag-only sites have a Yext account, or had one, but run no Yext search on the page, which makes them an upsell list for Yext and a prospect list for its rivals.

Four customers, 864 domains

One customer can own hundreds of rows, so I cut the biggest four before counting anything else. Marston's gives every pub its own website, built on Next.js with Civic's Cookie Control banner and linking back to Marston's pub finder, and the 13 pubs I opened all loaded ytag and nothing else. 522 pub domains came out and marstonsinns.co.uk stays as Marston's one domain. Before the cut, Marston's alone was a fifth of the count. World Insurance Associates had 180 more, the old sites of agencies that joined it and of its specialty brands, which now forward to pages on worldinsurance.com. Cricket Wireless had 84 alias, typo and parked domains forwarding to cricketwireless.com, and Banner Health 78 forwarding domains. Smaller fleets stay in and are named: Stamford Health 34, Sikich 24, Heartland Dental 21 and Toll Brothers 15, 94 domains, 5.4% of the 1,728.

Sales signal: dedupe by owner before you count accounts. Even after the cut, those four smaller groups fold 94 domains into four buyers.

One clean month

We started tracking Yext on 4 August 2026, and the chart shows one point, 1,728 in October, because our earlier monthly totals included the fleets and haven't been re-cut. Exits are easier to read. 273 domains dropped Yext on at least one hostname since 4 August. 89 of those are fleet domains that still run it on another hostname. Of the other 184, 157 no longer run Yext anywhere and 27 still do on another hostname.

Sales signal: treat this as a stable base of large accounts, not a fast-growing segment. Leavers are worth a call when the exit lines up with a website rebuild.

Who the customers are

43.7% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.22% have 11 to 50, but the top of the list is where Yext's money is: 138 companies have more than 1,000 staff, 13.37% of those sized. And they're old. 26.43% were founded before 1960 and only 4.14% in the 2020s. Yext's own FAQ says it is built for large multi-location enterprises and sends smaller businesses to reseller partners. The small sites I opened fit that pattern, with a toy shop and a Bronx caterer on WordPress, both with ytag pasted into the page head.

Sales signal: at enterprise accounts Yext sits with digital or local marketing, the team that owns location pages and listings. That team is the buyer for anything that touches location data.

Banks, hospitals and franchise locators

Banking (7.57%), Hospitals and Health Care (7.13%), Real Estate (6.8%), Medical Practices (6.14%) and Financial Services (6.03%) lead the industry chart. Grouped, banking, financial services and insurance make 17.33% and hospitals plus medical practices 13.27%, and the named rows read the same way, from Lloyds Bank, TSB and First Citizens to Mount Sinai and Ochsner. Franchise brands use Yext differently. McAlister's Deli, Moe's and Auntie Anne's run search on a locations subdomain, where Yext also powers the store finder. The base is American: 945 matched companies against 43 in the UK and 15 in Mexico.

Sales signal: the strongest vertical lists here are US regional banks and hospital systems. Both run search for branch, provider and service lookups, and both answer customers who search by place.

Where Yext meets Algolia

Algolia is the giant in Yext's competitor table, with 38,582 domains and 22.92% of Site Search, and the two barely touch. 10 domains run both today, out of 13 we've ever seen with both, too few to call a switching pattern. Nor are the counts like-for-like: Algolia's is search, and Yext's includes the conversion-tag sites. On its 717 search domains alone, Yext would sit below Swiftype (1,805) and Cludo (1,525). The pages ranking for "Yext alternatives" mostly compare Yext with listings tools such as BrightLocal and Whitespark, which tells you how buyers file it.

Sales signal: for a search vendor, the opening at a Yext account is the ytag-only site, where the brand already works with Yext but hasn't put its search on the page.

The stack around it

Google Tag Manager runs on 92.77% of Yext domains, and on some it's how Yext arrives. Banner Health's and Sanford Health's homepages carry no Yext script in the page, but both of their GTM containers inject ytag. Google Analytics is on 85.42%, Cloudflare on 48.44% and WordPress on 42.94%. The enterprise layer is easy to read: OneTrust on 13.95%, Adobe's two tag managers on 8.28% and 8.22%, Adobe Experience Manager on 6.83% and Sitecore on 5.09%.

Sales signal: a Sitecore or AEM site with Yext search belongs to a large web team that already buys location data. Lead with how your product connects to that data.

What it costs and who runs it

Yext doesn't publish prices. Its FAQ (checked 14 October 2026) says pricing is custom, built per solution and usually per location or provider, billed annually, with lower unit rates for bigger footprints and multi-year terms, and there's no free tier. The company was founded in New York in 2006, listed on the NYSE in 2017 and launched Search in 2019. It reported $446.6 million of revenue for the year to 31 January 2026 and completed its purchase of Hearsay Systems in August 2024. In February 2026, chief executive Michael Walrath withdrew his $9.00-a-share offer to take it private, saying he couldn't obtain financing at that price.

Sales signal: per-location pricing means renewals track footprint. A brand that closes or sells locations is a renewal risk for Yext and an opening for cheaper listings tools.
