Companies Using PerimeterX

Our October 2026 crawl finds PerimeterX, now sold by HUMAN Security as Bot Defender, on 2,672 live domains, counting only sites that run it on their own PerimeterX account. Below is the list of companies that use PerimeterX, with country, size, industry and stack. It includes 7-Eleven, Sam's Club, Texas Instruments, Ralph Lauren and Bloomberg.

The buyers are mostly American consumer brands: retailers, restaurant chains with online ordering, delivery apps and a cluster of local news sites. PerimeterX ranks 16th of the 38 tools we track in Bot Detection & CAPTCHA, with 0.04% of the category, a table that free CAPTCHA widgets dominate. Google Tag Manager runs on 75.9% of the same domains, and reCAPTCHA on 364 of them, usually on a form.

PerimeterX Usage Statistics

Our chart has one reading so far: 2,672 domains on 1 October 2026, after the removals described in How We Counted. Earlier monthly totals moved with our crawl reaching more of the web and with a change in what we captured in August, and the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, dead sites out and new ones in, so we don't read a trend from them. Exits we can count: 2,869 domains dropped PerimeterX on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and when we checked, 477 of them still ran it on another hostname.

List of Companies Using PerimeterX

Who uses PerimeterX? This list of companies that use PerimeterX names 50 of the 1,011 matched companies, and we checked each against its own pages in October 2026. 42 of the 50 load it on their main site rather than one subdomain. We left out rows where the script belongs to someone else: packages.united.com loads the same app ID as priceline.com, easyJet's activities site shares one with Jet2's, and Broward Schools' careers pages share one with jobs.sap.com, SAP's careers site.

PerimeterX Market Share Among Bot Detection & CAPTCHA

What is PerimeterX's market share? 0.04% of Bot Detection & CAPTCHA, 16th of the 38 tools we track there, based on our live crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. The share is small because the category counts every page with a CAPTCHA widget: reCAPTCHA alone holds 57.99% on 3,617,019 domains, and Cloudflare Turnstile 4.25%. Among bot-management products, AWS WAF counts 12,756 domains (8th) and DataDome 3,845 (12th), both after their own pages removed domains on other companies' accounts.

PerimeterX Alternatives & Competitors

PerimeterX's direct rivals are the other bot-management products, and on PerimeterX sites they rarely appear together. 47 PerimeterX domains also run DataDome and 14 run AWS WAF's bot challenge, by our count on the clean set. 364 run reCAPTCHA as well, usually on a form, which is a different job. The table isn't like-for-like: reCAPTCHA's and Cloudflare Turnstile's figures are raw totals for a free widget, while PerimeterX's, DataDome's and AWS WAF's have had other companies' accounts removed.

How We Counted PerimeterX Customers

A domain counts here if a page on it loads PerimeterX's sensor script from px-cloud.net, pxi.pub or protechts.net, sets one of its cookies (_px3, _pxhd, _pxvid or _pxff_cc), or defines the _pxAppId variable. All of those appear whoever owns the PerimeterX account, so the test finds the script, not the buyer. The app ID in the script's address (PX plus eight characters) tells the accounts apart, so we grouped every domain by it and opened samples of each group in a browser.

Of 9,488 live domains, 411 had a domain-for-sale or gambling page title. We removed 6,405 more that load PerimeterX under another company's account:

  • 2,870 newsletters and blogs hosted on beehiiv, which load app ID PXeBumDLwe, the one beehiiv.com loads.
  • 1,246 restaurant domains that point at SkipTheDishes' hosted ordering pages (1,172 with English titles, 74 with French ones), on Skip's account.
  • 754 independent appliance and furniture shops on the dealer websites of AVB, the member-owned buying group behind BrandSource, whose template sets the app ID.
  • 708 car dealers' and estate agents' store pages on sahibinden.com, stored as separate domains.
  • 534 Indonesian gambling pages on expired domains: 464 copy Wayfair's website, scripts and PerimeterX app ID included, and 70 more carry gambling titles our filter missed.
  • 119 agents' domains that forward to Zillow profiles and 56 that forward to HAR.com, on those portals' accounts.
  • 118 nonprofit sites whose PerimeterX comes with Salsa Labs' donation forms.

A domain from those groups stayed in if it also loads an app ID of its own (39 dealer-template sites and 5 beehiiv sites did), and the platforms' own domains, such as beehiiv.com, zillow.com and sahibinden.com, stayed in too. Every chart and table on this page uses the remaining 2,672.

Some brands still account for many domains on their own account: Flutter's FanDuel and PokerStars sites about 159, Target and its typo domains 129, Change.org 64 and Skyscanner 59. Those are real customers counted more than once. And 68 regional newspaper sites from different publishers share one app ID, which points to a newspaper-services vendor's account rather than each paper's own.

Expert Analysis: PerimeterX Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

David Thomson
David ThomsonCTO, TechnologyChecker

I spent years on crawling systems at Google, and bot defence is the one category where the thing we measure fights back. While checking this page our own browser was told to "Press & Hold" on HUMAN's newsroom, which is a fair summary of the product. Our October 2026 crawl finds PerimeterX's script on 9,488 live domains. After removing the ones on other companies' accounts, 2,672 remain, 1,011 of them matched to a company. Most of what follows is about who chose it.

What the 2,672 is made of

PerimeterX's script names its account: the address carries an app ID, PX plus eight characters. Grouping domains by it showed that about two thirds of the raw count ran on someone else's account. beehiiv's newsletters (2,870), SkipTheDishes' restaurant pages (1,246), AVB's dealer websites (754) and sahibinden.com's store pages (708) were the big four, and we removed them along with smaller platform groups. What's left is mostly brands, several of them counted many times: Flutter's FanDuel and PokerStars sites about 159, Target and its typo domains 129, Change.org 64 and Skyscanner 59.

The usage chart has a single October reading, so there is no curve to interpret yet. Earlier monthly figures moved with our crawl's coverage and a capture change in August, and the domains we crawl turn over every month, so I wouldn't read growth into them.

"Two thirds of the domains carrying PerimeterX's script were on someone else's account. The buyer list is a few thousand domains long, and a few hundred brands own most of it." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: count brands, not domains. A FanDuel or a Target is one conversation however many hostnames it protects.

Who the buyers are

144 matched companies (15.37%) have more than 1,000 staff, and 18.22% were founded before 1960. That's an old-economy, large-company base: Sam's Club, Texas Instruments, Ralph Lauren, 7-Eleven, Bloomberg, Skechers, Pep Boys and The RealReal, each on an app ID of its own. The 38.53% at 1 to 10 employees is real but spread thin, led by retail, real estate and restaurant businesses. HUMAN's merger announcement in July 2022 put the combined company at more than 500 customers. That counts customers, not domains, but it fits a base where a few hundred brands run several domains each.

Sales signal: the PerimeterX buyer is a consumer brand with a login, a checkout or limited stock to protect. Account takeover, scalping and scraping are the pains, and the security team owns the budget.

Industries and countries

Retail leads at 13.15%, with Restaurants at 3.81%: Arby's, Jimmy John's and Buffalo Wild Wings protect their ordering sites. News is the second cluster. Newspaper Publishing is 5.07%, and 29 of those 44 companies are regional papers from different publishers sharing one app ID, while 11 of the 28 broadcast companies are Nexstar's TV stations. Food delivery runs through group accounts: Delivery Hero uses one across talabat, foodpanda, foodora and HungerStation, and Deliveroo has its own. By country the United States leads with 660 matched companies, eleven times the United Kingdom's 60, with Australia (47) and Canada (32) next.

Sales signal: for bot management, territory is American consumer commerce. Europe is thin here: France has 20 matched companies and Germany 18.

Overlaps and exits

There's no switching table on this page because none of the pairs passed our tests: most domains seen with PerimeterX and a rival still run both. On the clean set, 364 PerimeterX domains also run reCAPTCHA, usually on a form, 47 run DataDome and 14 run AWS WAF's challenge. Exits are real but softer than they look. 2,869 domains dropped PerimeterX on at least one hostname since we started tracking it on 16 March 2026, and when we checked, 477 of them still ran it on another hostname.

"Bot-defence vendors rarely share a site. When a PerimeterX domain runs a second tool, it's nearly always a free CAPTCHA on a form, not another bot manager." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: displacement deals are rip-and-replace, not add-ons. A PerimeterX domain that adds a rival's challenge script is unusual enough to suggest an evaluation.

What the stack says

Across the clean set Google Analytics runs on 63.47% of domains, and Cloudflare fronts 44.12%, Amazon CloudFront 27.06% and Akamai 8.42%. Google Tag Manager is on 2,027 of the 2,672 domains and Adobe Experience Platform Launch on 393, and on some sites, adn.com among them, the PerimeterX sensor itself arrives through a GTM container. The commerce rows read like enterprise retail: Salesforce Commerce Cloud on 7.82%, its recommendation service CQuotient on 5.76%, Adobe Analytics on 6.77% and Braze on 5.39%. Several large customers, Zillow and sahibinden.com among them, serve the sensor through their own domain, the first-party set-up HUMAN documents for sites whose third-party scripts get blocked.

Sales signal: a PerimeterX customer already pays for a CDN, a consent manager (OneTrust is on 23.32%) and an enterprise commerce platform. Sell into that stack, not around it.

Key takeaways

  1. 9,488 domains load PerimeterX's script; 2,672 run it on their own account after removing platform fleets, copies and for-sale pages.
  2. The buyers are large US consumer brands: 144 matched companies have 1,000-plus staff and 18.22% were founded before 1960.
  3. Retail (13.15%) and news are the two clusters, and the US has eleven times the UK's matched companies.
  4. Rival bot managers almost never share a site with it; reCAPTCHA does, on 364 domains, for a different job.

How I'd use this list

Targeting: start from the 50 named companies, all checked by hand, then group the rest of the list by brand and app ID so each company appears once.

Outreach: "Your site runs HUMAN's Bot Defender (PerimeterX) on your own account, so you already pay to keep bots out. This is what we see on sites like yours, including which ones also run a CAPTCHA."

Competitive angle: sellers of DataDome, Akamai Bot Manager or AWS WAF should watch the 2,869 domains that dropped PerimeterX on at least one hostname, after removing the 477 that still run it elsewhere. For the wider context on automated traffic, see our bot traffic statistics.

The full list of PerimeterX domains, with company data for 1,011 of them, is on TechnologyChecker.io.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses PerimeterX?

Mostly American consumer brands, on their own accounts. Our October 2026 crawl finds PerimeterX on 2,672 live domains after removing thousands that load it under another company's account. Named users we checked include 7-Eleven, Sam's Club, Texas Instruments, Ralph Lauren, Arby's and Deliveroo. Retail is the largest industry, at 13.15% of matched companies.

How many customers does PerimeterX have?

Fewer than its raw script count. We see the script on 9,488 live domains, but 6,405 of those run it on another company's account and 411 are for-sale or gambling pages, leaving 2,672. Brands such as Flutter and Target own over a hundred domains each. When HUMAN and PerimeterX announced their merger in July 2022, they reported more than 500 customers combined.

What is PerimeterX's market share?

0.04% of Bot Detection & CAPTCHA, 16th of the 38 tools we track there, on 2,672 domains. Free CAPTCHA widgets dominate the category: reCAPTCHA holds 57.99% and Cloudflare Turnstile 4.25%. Among bot-management products, AWS WAF counts 12,756 domains and DataDome 3,845, both after their own pages removed domains on other companies' accounts, so all three are measured the same way.

What are the best alternatives to PerimeterX?

What is PerimeterX?

PerimeterX was a bot-protection company. HUMAN Security and PerimeterX announced their merger on 27 July 2022, and the product carries on as HUMAN's Bot Defender. A JavaScript sensor on each page collects browser signals, and HUMAN's server-side enforcer uses the result to let a request through, challenge it or block it. The PerimeterX name survives in its script hosts and cookies.

How does PerimeterX work?

A small sensor script, loaded from HUMAN's px-cloud.net servers or proxied through the site's own domain, collects signals from the visitor's browser and sends them to HUMAN. Cookies such as _px3 and _pxhd carry the verdict, and an enforcer on the site's server uses it to allow, challenge or block each request. HUMAN's docs say the cookies hold random IDs, not personal data.

Is PerimeterX the same as HUMAN Security?

In practice, yes. HUMAN Security, formerly White Ops, and PerimeterX announced their merger on 27 July 2022 and continued under the HUMAN name, with PerimeterX co-founder Omri Iluz becoming president of enterprise security. HUMAN's documentation lists Bot Defender next to newer products such as Sightline Cyberfraud Defense, and both use the same _px cookies on customers' sites.

What is the PerimeterX "Press & Hold" challenge?

It's the page HUMAN shows when its sensor isn't sure a visitor is human. It reads "Press & Hold to confirm you are a human (and not a bot)" and gives a reference ID. We hit it ourselves on HUMAN's own newsroom while checking facts for this page. In our crawl, 94 clean PerimeterX domains returned the block page's title, "Access to this page has been denied".

What is the _pxhd cookie?

_pxhd is a first-party cookie set by HUMAN's Bot Defender, the product formerly called PerimeterX. HUMAN's documentation says it's used for server-side detection, telling real users from malicious bots, lasts one year and holds a randomly generated visitor ID. It's one of the cookies our detection reads, along with _px3, _pxvid and _pxff_cc.

Why do so many small websites load PerimeterX?

Because platforms install it for their customers. beehiiv puts PerimeterX on the newsletters it hosts under one app ID, which beehiiv.com loads too, and AVB's dealer websites carry it for hundreds of appliance shops. We removed 2,870 beehiiv and 754 AVB domains from this page, because those sites didn't choose PerimeterX. Their platform did.

PerimeterX vs DataDome: which do more sites use?

DataDome, on our October 2026 counts: 3,845 live domains against PerimeterX's 2,672, both after removing domains that run the tool on another company's account. PerimeterX's customers lean American, with 660 of its matched companies in the United States. The two rarely sit together: only 47 domains run both, so a site that picks one rarely adds the other.

How much does PerimeterX cost?

HUMAN doesn't publish prices for Bot Defender. Its website sends buyers to a "Get Pricing" request and a demo, so contracts are quoted. Our data hints at who pays: 144 matched PerimeterX companies, 15.37%, have more than 1,000 staff, and most customers sit behind a paid CDN such as Cloudflare, CloudFront or Akamai. Checked 14 October 2026.
