Our October 2026 crawl finds DataDome's bot protection on 3,845 domains, counted after we removed sites that only carry it through another company's DataDome account. The best-known names are in travel, retail, ticketing and news: we saw DataDome in a browser on Airbnb, Tripadvisor, Vinted, StubHub, Reuters, The Economist and ADEO's supplier portal. Below is the list of companies that use DataDome, with size, country and industry. It ranks 12th of the 38 technologies in Bot Detection & CAPTCHA, with a 0.06% share.

The raw count was 8,819. We took out 824 gambling and domain-for-sale pages and 4,965 domains hosted by five platforms that protect every page they serve with the platform's own DataDome key: Etsy's Pattern shops, used-car dealer sites on one shared platform, The Knot Worldwide's wedding pages and badges, Evessio's event sites and Nexternal's shops. The two groups overlap, and the full breakdown is at the bottom of this page.

DataDome Usage Statistics

One point: 3,845 live domains in October 2026, counted without the platform-hosted and gambling sites described at the bottom of this page. Our earlier monthly totals included them, so the chart starts here. Exits tell you more than the total: 2,680 domains dropped DataDome on at least one hostname since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026, and 393 of them still run it on another hostname. Of the 2,287 that dropped it everywhere, 1,654 were Pattern by Etsy shops, which aren't in the count above.

List of Companies Using DataDome

Who uses DataDome? This list of companies that use DataDome shows 50 of the 1,676 matched companies. We opened every detection page in a browser in October 2026, and 46 of the 50 served DataDome's cookie, headers, tag or challenge page on the company's own domain; the other four hit a different bot wall or timed out. We left out rows whose page showed no DataDome at all, a LinkedIn match to the wrong company, a garbled record, and four companies' event subdomains that share one event platform's DataDome account.

DataDome Customers by Company Size & Age

What size companies use DataDome? A wide spread. 41.5% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 20.91% have 11 to 50, but the top end is what sets DataDome apart: 156 companies have more than 1,000 staff, among them Airbnb, Reuters, StubHub and Australia Post. Several big ones run it on one property rather than everywhere, such as H&R Block's MyBlock sign-in and Forbes's newsletter accounts.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (25.48%), then the 2000s (20.81%), and 20.1% were founded before 1960, about one in five. That old tail is where many of the named customers sit: Australia Post (1809), The Economist (1843) and Sun Life (1865). Only 7.54% were founded in the 2020s.

What Industries Use DataDome the Most?

Retail leads at 9.15%, then Hospitality (6.68%), Technology, Information and Internet (4.2%), Religious Institutions (3.79%) and Motor Vehicle Manufacturing (3.23%), based on our enriched company data. No industry reaches 10%. The Religious Institutions row is mostly US synagogue and summer-camp websites; many of them answered our browser with a 405 error, so we couldn't see whose DataDome account they use.

Retailers using DataDome include Kiabi, BUT, Celio, Cultura, Torrid, Vitamin Shoppe, London Drugs, Schnucks and Warby Parker. Travel companies on DataDome are the other big group: Airbnb, Tripadvisor, Despegar, Traveloka, Best Western, Extended Stay America, Frontier Airlines, Virgin Voyages and Norway's rail operator Vy. News publishers using DataDome to keep scrapers off their articles include Reuters, Forbes, The Economist, El País and Cadena SER.

DataDome Alternatives & Competitors

The four rows in the table are two kinds of product. reCAPTCHA (57.83%) and Cloudflare Turnstile (4.24%) are challenge widgets that sit on a form; DataDome screens traffic to the whole site. They often run together: 900 of the 3,845 DataDome domains run reCAPTCHA too. The like-for-like rivals are PerimeterX at 2,672 domains (0.04%) and AWS WAF at 12,756 (0.2%), and they rarely share a site with DataDome: 51 domains run it with PerimeterX and 35 with AWS WAF.

How We Counted DataDome Customers

A domain passes our DataDome test if a page on it sets DataDome's datadome cookie, returns DataDome's Server or X-DataDome headers, or loads DataDome's script from js.datadome.co, ct.datadome.co or ct.captcha-delivery.com. That finds real customers in two forms: sites that load the JavaScript tag, and sites whose server or CDN checks every request with DataDome and answers suspected bots, our crawler included, with a challenge page from captcha-delivery.com.

The test can't tell whose DataDome account it is. A site hosted on someone else's platform passes it, and so, in our crawl, does a page that only carries a badge or widget from someone else's DataDome-protected site. In October 2026, 8,819 domains passed. We removed two groups before computing anything:

  • 824 domains whose current page is an online-gambling or domain-for-sale page.
  • 4,965 domains on five platform accounts. Sized in our census of the domains outside the gambling group, they were: 1,366 used-car dealer sites whose vehicle photos load from cdn05.carsforsale.com, cdn09.carsforsale.com or cdn.powersports.com, or which share the same "Car Dealer in {City}" template (11 of the 13 that loaded for us served DataDome with one and the same site key); 1,330 wedding sites tied to The Knot Worldwide, 190 of them couples' websites hosted on The Knot's key and 905 wedding vendors carrying a WeddingWire, Bodas.net, Matrimonio.com or Mariages.net badge (none of the ten we opened ran DataDome on its own domain); 1,121 Pattern by Etsy shops, served with the same key as etsy.com; 215 Evessio event sites and 119 Nexternal shops, each platform on one key. The other 815 were already in the gambling group, nearly all of them gambling pages that still load Etsy's scripts.

That leaves 3,845 domains, and every chart and table on this page uses them. Before the cut DataDome counted 8,749 domains and ranked 10th in Bot Detection & CAPTCHA; on the cleaned count it's 12th with 0.06%. Airbnb's 142 domains stay in, because they run on Airbnb's own key. The 3,845 can still include smaller shared accounts we haven't identified, so we only name a company after its own domain served DataDome when we checked in October 2026.

Expert Analysis: DataDome Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

David Thomson
David ThomsonCTO, TechnologyChecker

I spend my working week on the crawler side of this data, and DataDome is built to stop crawlers, which makes it easy to see. A domain counts here when a page on it sets the datadome cookie, returns DataDome's headers or loads its script, and on many big sites our headless browser gets DataDome's challenge page instead of the site. Our October 2026 crawl puts it on 3,845 domains, 12th of 38 in Bot Detection & CAPTCHA with a 0.06% share, and 1,676 of those domains matched to a company. That's after a big cut, and the cut is the first thing a seller needs to understand. (For the wider picture of who runs bots and who blocks them, see our bot traffic statistics.)

What we took out

The raw count was 8,819. We removed 824 gambling and domain-for-sale pages, then 4,965 domains on five platform accounts, two groups that overlap. The biggest were 1,366 used-car dealer sites whose vehicle photos come from Carsforsale.com's or Powersports.com's image servers (11 of the 13 that loaded for us served DataDome with the same site key), 1,330 wedding sites tied to The Knot Worldwide and 1,121 Pattern by Etsy shops on Etsy's key. Evessio's event sites and Nexternal's shops were the smaller two. None of those site owners signed a DataDome contract, so they're not in the 3,845.

Sales signal: if you pull DataDome users from any tool that doesn't make this cut, filter the dealers, wedding vendors and Etsy shops out yourself. A used-car lot in Texas isn't a bot-management buyer.

One month, no growth curve

The chart has a single point, 3,845 in October 2026, because our earlier monthly totals included the platform-hosted sites. The exits are where the movement shows. 2,680 domains dropped DataDome on at least one hostname since we started tracking it on 16 March 2026, and 393 of them still run it on another hostname. Of the 2,287 that dropped it everywhere, 1,654 were Pattern by Etsy shops, and several Pattern domains we opened now return Etsy's error page.

"Most of the domains that dropped DataDome this year were Etsy Pattern shops going dark. I'd book that as Etsy's churn rather than DataDome's." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: churn among the 3,845 is small next to the platform churn. Treat the list as a stable pool and watch the next few months before calling a trend either way.

Who's left

The rest looks like the base DataDome described to TechCrunch in 2023: e-commerce, media, travel, ticketing and the public sector. Size is spread wide. 41.5% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, yet 156 have more than 1,000 staff, and age skews old: 20.1% were founded before 1960. We confirmed DataDome in a browser on Airbnb, Tripadvisor, Vinted, StubHub, Reuters, Forbes, The Economist, Australia Post's merchant portal and the Alaska Department of Revenue's pfd.alaska.gov. In that 2023 interview DataDome said it had more than 300 customers protecting over 400,000 domains. That count and ours aren't measured the same way, so I wouldn't set one against the other.

Sales signal: start with the 156 large companies. The buyer sits in security, fraud or e-commerce engineering and runs a product whose list price starts at $3,830 a month, so lead with what you add, not with price.

The US first, France a clear second

The United States has 751 matched companies, France 189, the United Kingdom 139, Germany 67 and Canada 65. That's about one French company for every four American ones. French retail shows it best: Kiabi, BUT, Celio and Cultura, and ADEO, whose supplier portal and four of its trading brands (Bricoman, now Tecnomat in France, plus Tecnomat and Bricocenter in Italy and Obramax in Brazil) each run DataDome under a different key, per the brand list on ADEO's site. Retail leads the industry table at 9.15% and Hospitality follows at 6.68%, with no industry above 10%.

Sales signal: in Europe, start with French retail and with travel brands. A group like ADEO running five separate keys is a consolidation conversation waiting to happen.

Running beside reCAPTCHA

Our migration test found no DataDome switching flow big enough to publish, so this is about overlap. 900 of the 3,845 domains run reCAPTCHA too, so many DataDome sites keep a CAPTCHA on their forms. Bot managers rarely share a domain: 51 run DataDome with PerimeterX, 35 with AWS WAF and 25 with Cloudflare Turnstile. Those are small numbers, and I wouldn't call any of them a trend.

"900 DataDome sites still run reCAPTCHA. On most of them the bot manager and the form CAPTCHA aren't fighting for the same job." - David Thomson, CTO at TechnologyChecker.io

Sales signal: a CAPTCHA vendor can sell into DataDome sites without displacing anything. A rival bot manager needs a replacement deal, and two of them on one domain is rare.

The stack around it

Across the 3,845 domains, Google Analytics runs on 64.14% and Cloudflare's CDN on 31.18%, with Amazon CloudFront on 20.96% and Akamai on 4.4%. OneTrust leads consent at 21.25%, then Didomi (4.19%) and TrustArc (2.21%). Adobe Analytics (4.32%), comScore (4.16%) and Piano Analytics (3.25%) point to big consumer brands and publishers. Other security layers are thin: Imperva shows on 0.44%.

Sales signal: the typical DataDome site is a big consumer property on a major CDN with an enterprise consent tool. CDN, consent and analytics vendors can use the DataDome list as a shortcut to that profile.

What it costs

DataDome's pricing page, checked 14 October 2026, lists Bot Protect at $3,830 a month for Essentials, $8,670 for Advanced, $10,160 for Premium and from $13,270 for Enterprise. There's no free tier, one more reason the dealer and wedding sites we removed can't be customers in their own right.

Key takeaways

  1. 3,845 domains, 12th of 38 in Bot Detection & CAPTCHA with a 0.06% share, after removing 4,965 platform-hosted domains and 824 gambling and for-sale pages.
  2. 156 matched companies have more than 1,000 staff, and 20.1% were founded before 1960.
  3. France is the second market, 189 companies against 751 in the US.
  4. Most drops since March were Etsy Pattern shops (1,654 of 2,287), not DataDome customers.
  5. No published switching flows. 900 domains run reCAPTCHA too; overlap with other bot managers is small.

Sales applications

Outreach template: "Your sign-in and checkout pages already screen traffic with DataDome. Teams in that position use [your product] for [the gap: fraud review, payments, API security]. Worth 20 minutes?" Send it only where the datadome cookie sits on the company's own domain.

Targeting: on TechnologyChecker.io, filter DataDome domains to companies with 1,000+ staff in retail, travel or publishing, and start with the US and France.

Competitive angle: PerimeterX (2,672 domains) and AWS WAF (12,756) are the like-for-like rivals, and only 51 and 35 domains run them beside DataDome. A replacement pitch has to beat an incumbent outright; there's no dual-running stage to wedge into.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses DataDome?

Most visibly, travel, retail, ticketing and news companies that need to stop scrapers, fake accounts and checkout bots. Our October 2026 crawl finds DataDome on 3,845 domains after removing platform-hosted sites. We confirmed it on Airbnb, Tripadvisor, Vinted, StubHub, Reuters, Kiabi and Frontier Airlines. Another 4,965 domains carry it only because Etsy, The Knot or a dealer platform does.

How many customers does DataDome have?

Fewer than our 3,845 domains, because one customer often owns many: Airbnb alone runs it on 142. 1,676 of the domains matched to a company. We left out 4,965 domains that carry DataDome through a platform's account. In March 2023 DataDome told TechCrunch it had more than 300 customers protecting over 400,000 domains, which it counts differently from us.

What is DataDome's market share?

0.06% of Bot Detection & CAPTCHA, 12th of the 38 technologies we track there, on 3,845 domains. The leaders are a different kind of product: reCAPTCHA has 3,617,019 domains and Cloudflare Turnstile 265,122, both free challenge widgets. Among paid bot-management services, PerimeterX has 2,672 and AWS WAF 12,756. Before we removed platform-hosted sites, DataDome ranked 10th.

What are the best alternatives to DataDome?

For the same job, screening traffic to a whole site, look at PerimeterX (2,672 domains), AWS WAF's bot controls (12,756), Akamai Bot Manager or Cloudflare Bot Management. To protect only a form, a CAPTCHA costs far less: reCAPTCHA, Cloudflare Turnstile, hCaptcha or Friendly Captcha. Bot managers rarely mix: 51 domains run DataDome and PerimeterX together today.

Which countries use DataDome the most?

The United States, with 751 matched companies, then France (189), the United Kingdom (139), Germany (67) and Canada (65). France's share is the striking part, about one French company for every four American ones, and French retailers stand out among the named rows: Kiabi, BUT, Celio, Cultura and ADEO's supplier portal.

What size companies use DataDome?

All sizes. 41.5% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 20.91% have 11 to 50, but 156 have more than 1,000 staff, including Airbnb, Reuters, StubHub and Australia Post. Large companies often protect one property, such as a sign-in or a supplier portal, rather than every site they own.

How old are companies that use DataDome?

Among matched companies with a known founding year, the 2010s lead with 25.48%, then the 2000s (20.81%). 20.1% were founded before 1960, about one in five, including Australia Post (1809), The Economist (1843) and Sun Life (1865). Only 7.54% date from the 2020s, so this is an established customer base rather than a start-up one.

What is the ideal customer profile for DataDome?

A consumer business whose logins, checkout or prices draw bots: retail, travel, ticketing or news, most often in the US or France. Size varies a lot, from small firms to the 156 companies with more than 1,000 staff, and a fifth were founded before 1960. Large accounts tend to protect one high-value property first.

What sites use DataDome?

Three kinds, in our crawl. Big consumer sites, such as Despegar, Traveloka, Virgin Voyages, Forbes and The Economist. Retail chains like Kiabi, BUT, Celio and Torrid. And portals: the Alaska Department of Revenue's pfd.alaska.gov, H&R Block's MyBlock sign-in and ADEO's supplier site. Etsy shops and dealer sites that inherit a platform's DataDome account are left out of our count.

How much does DataDome cost?

DataDome's pricing page lists Bot Protect at $3,830 a month for Essentials, $8,670 for Advanced and $10,160 for Premium, with Enterprise from $13,270 a month. Account Protect, DDoS Protect and Ad Protect are priced by request or event volume. There's no free plan; you book a demo. Checked 14 October 2026, so prices may have moved.

Who owns DataDome?

Its founders and venture investors, per the latest funding report we found. Benjamin Fabre and Fabien Grenier founded DataDome in 2015, and Fabre is CEO. In March 2023 it raised a $42 million Series C led by InfraVia Growth, with Elephant and ISAI, taking total funding to $82 million, according to TechCrunch.

What is DataDome used for?

Telling people from bots on websites, apps and APIs, then blocking or challenging the bots. DataDome sells it against scraping, account takeover, fake sign-ups, scalping, ad fraud and Layer 7 DDoS. On the sites in our crawl it shows up as a datadome cookie, a script from js.datadome.co, or a challenge page from captcha-delivery.com when a visitor looks automated.

What is a DataDome device check?

Device Check is one of the features DataDome lists on its site. What we can describe is the outside view: when DataDome scores a browser as automated, the site answers with HTTP 403 and a challenge from geo.captcha-delivery.com. Our headless browser got that page on Tripadvisor, Kiabi, BUT and Hanesbrands in October 2026, which is how we confirmed DataDome there.

What is the datadome cookie?

It's the cookie DataDome sets, named datadome, and it's one of the three signals we count. On a real customer it belongs to the site's own domain, as on airbnb.com or vinted.com. When a page gets it for somebody else's domain, for example theknot.com on a couple's wedding website, the DataDome account is that other company's, so we leave the site out of the count.
