Companies Using Yoast SEO for Shopify

I pulled Yoast SEO for Shopify from our October 2026 crawl to answer a simple question: how far has the name that leads our SEO Tools table on WordPress got on Shopify? A store counts when its pages carry the app's structured-data block, a JSON-LD script with the id yoast-schema-graph. That gives 5,054 live domains, 2,227 of them matched to a company, 11th of 48 in SEO Tools. The WordPress plugin, for comparison, is on 3,898,749.

WordPress plugin or Shopify app?

The obvious risk with this count is mixing up the two products. They use the same script name with different markup: the WordPress plugin puts yoast-schema-graph in a class, the Shopify app puts it in an id. I opened 30 random stores from the count. 29 carried the id inside Yoast's Shopify app block, none used the plugin's class, and the 30th had removed the app. Among the 90 company sites I checked for the list below, 85 carried it, all from the Shopify app. So the 5,054 are Shopify stores paying for Yoast, not WordPress sites. On the other side of the fence, the plugin and RankMath SEO (1,034,164 domains) are WordPress products, which is why the category table looks so lopsided.

Only 65 domains run both Yoast products today. The two need different platforms, so that is almost always a store and a WordPress site sharing one domain.

Sales signal: treat this as a list of Shopify merchants with a paid SEO subscription. Anyone who sells to WordPress sites should use the plugin's list instead.

A flat line since July

The chart reads 4,277 in June, 5,140 in July, 5,274 in August, 5,114 in September and 5,054 in October. The June step is ours: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. From July the line moves within about 220 domains. Underneath that, 1,026 domains have dropped the app since we began tracking it on 16 March 2026. That is counted by hostname, and when I re-checked, 42 of them still carried it on another hostname.

Sales signal: a steady pool of about 5,000 domains. It is a niche to work through, not a segment that is growing fast.

Who pays for it

60.6% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 26.2% have 11 to 50. The age profile sits between the two Shopify form apps profiled from the same October 2026 crawl: 39.51% were founded in the 2010s and 23.16% in the 2020s, against 7.49% for HulkApps Form Builder and 27.73% for Powerful Form. 21 companies have more than 1,000 staff. Voltas runs the app on its main site, voltas.com, and BODi on teambeachbody.com, which now opens bodi.com. Others keep it to a shop: Legal Sea Foods, Dilmah, the National Trust for Scotland, EcoFlow's European store and Natural Factors' Greek one.

Sales signal: at large accounts the buyer is the e-commerce team running one store, not the corporate web team. Address the store owner.

A Dutch tilt

The United States leads with 838 matched companies, then the United Kingdom (260), Canada (137), Australia (114), India (105) and the Netherlands (103). Yoast is based in Wijchen, and it shows: there is about one Dutch company for every eight American ones here, against roughly one to 15 for Powerful Form and one to 97 for HulkApps Form Builder. The UK ratio is high too, 260 to 838. On industry, retail labels add up to 30.71% of matched companies, with Wellness and Fitness Services (4.32%) and Personal Care Product Manufacturing (3.12%) next to them.

Sales signal: Dutch and British Shopify brands make up more of this list than of either form app's. A Benelux agency or a translation app has an easy opener.

Stacking, not switching

Our switching tests found no corridor worth publishing. Stores do try more than one SEO app: 72 domains run Yoast SEO for Shopify and Avada SEO today, of 98 ever seen with both, and 20 run it with SEOAnt, of 46 ever seen with both. When most of the overlap is still running both, the data says "trying two apps", not "moving from one to the other". With overlaps this small, I wouldn't read a direction into them.

Sales signal: a store with two SEO apps is paying twice for overlapping features. That is a consolidation pitch for whichever app does more.

The stack around it

Across the 5,006 live domains behind the stack figures, Google Analytics runs on 80.7% and Klaviyo on 41.41%, both higher than on the two form apps (64.66% and 25.73% for Powerful Form, 73.13% and 30.92% for HulkApps Form Builder). Klaviyo Reviews is on 35.96%, Judge.me on 29.03% and Trustpilot on 8.55%. Ahrefs Analytics turns up on 2.04%. These look like stores where someone already owns marketing and pays for tools.

Sales signal: email, reviews and analytics are usually in place. Pitch what sits beyond them, such as merchandising, search or conversion testing.

What it costs, and what merchants say

The App Store listing, checked on 14 October 2026, shows Yoast SEO Premium at $19 a month ($190 a year) and Yoast SEO AI+ at $45 a month ($450 a year), each with a 14-day trial and no free plan; Yoast's product page quotes the same $19 and $45, excluding VAT. The app launched on the Shopify App Store on 27 September 2021 and holds a 4.3 rating from 177 reviews. Two reviews from late August 2026 describe an update that changed or wiped theme settings; Yoast replied that it fixed the issue the day it was reported.

Sales signal: a paid-only app facing a bigger rival whose App Store listing offers a free plan is exposed at renewal. Stores that recently added Avada SEO or SEOAnt alongside it are the ones weighing that choice.
