Companies Using Sovrn//Commerce

Sovrn//Commerce was supposed to be a list of publishers when I pulled it from our October 2026 crawl. A domain qualifies when its pages load vglnk.js from viglink.com, the commerce-js.sovrn.co script, or one of the script's JavaScript objects. That's the publisher side of affiliate marketing; the merchants who pay the commissions don't run it. After the clean-up below, the total is 2,074 live domains, 593 matched to a company, 30th of 96 in Affiliate & Referral. Sovrn Holdings bought VigLink in December 2018, and its knowledge base describes a free account with CPC and CPA programmes.

Whose account is it?

The script runs under an account key, so I checked whose key each site uses. On most of the raw footprint it isn't the site's. 3,761 of the 5,838 raw domains run Shareaholic or Disqus, and both load VigLink under their own account: Shareaholic through an affiliate-links feature with a hard-coded key, Disqus with one key shared across unrelated sites. In my browser check, 51 of 90 sites loaded vglnk.js straight from Shareaholic's script, including a state library and a Mississippi hospital. Those domains are out of this page.

One platform is still in. Zola hosts couples' wedding sites on their own domains and loads the script under one Zola key: 127 of the 2,074 are titled as wedding websites, and every one of the 14 I opened redirected to zola.com. The 50 companies on the list loaded it without Shareaholic, Disqus or Zola.

Sales signal: before you treat a Sovrn//Commerce detection as a publisher's choice, check for Shareaholic, Disqus or a zola.com redirect. If none is there, the site owner chose to monetise links.

One month on the chart

The chart has a single point, 2,074 in October 2026, because that's the first month we counted Sovrn without the platform loads. Since March 2026, 1,023 domains have dropped the script, and about 180 of them still run it on another hostname. When later months arrive, read them as a trend, not a same-domain comparison: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and new ones added, and our detection signals widen over time.

Who the 2,074 are

Among matched companies with a known size, 80.94% have 1 to 10 employees and 14.16% have 11 to 50. Only 2 list more than 1,000 staff. The bigger names sit at 51 to 200: Variety and Brit + Co, which load the script through Mula's shopping widgets, and Zoutons, an Indian coupon site. Age points the same way: 58.24% were founded in the 2010s and 20.59% in the 2020s. Most of the named companies loaded vglnk.js from their own pages, such as Marin Magazine, Nice Kicks, Cherry Bombe and Travel Noire, which serves it from its own loader file.

The keys back that up. On the 50 named companies, 27 showed their account key in a request, and the 27 use 26 different keys. The one repeat is Fitted, whose two domains share a key because they're the same company. That's what a list of independent sign-ups looks like, and it's the opposite of the raw footprint, where one Shareaholic key covered thousands of unrelated sites.

Sales signal: the typical Sovrn//Commerce customer is a one- or two-person publisher who owns revenue. Pitch time saved and earnings per article.

Mostly American, mostly content and deals

We matched 330 Sovrn//Commerce companies to the United States, 58 to the United Kingdom, 21 to Canada and 14 to Australia, 86.5% of the companies in the top 15 countries, with India's 18 in between. Advertising Services leads the industries at 7.03%, where coupon and deal sites such as CouponMoto land, and the media group of Online Audio and Video Media, Media Production, Internet Publishing and Book and Periodical Publishing reaches 13.49%. Travel Arrangements (3.8%) and Financial Services (3.23%) hold comparison sites, such as Flystein and DebtHammer.

Sales signal: for US deal and travel publishers, this list is a ready-made prospect list. Outside the English-speaking markets it's too thin for a campaign.

Sites that run it next to Skimlinks or impact.com

We don't publish switching rows for Sovrn//Commerce; none pass our tests. 149 of the 2,074 also run Skimlinks today; across all Sovrn domains it's 171 of 194 ever seen with both, so nearly nine in ten kept the pair. 148 also carry impact.com's advertiser tag.

Sales signal: sites running both link networks are the audience for routing and reporting across networks.

The stack: AdSense, Pinterest and Amazon

Across the 2,074 domains, WordPress runs on 49.23%, Elementor on 10.56% and Squarespace on 4.19%. Google AdSense is on 36.84%, DoubleClick Floodlight on 22.18%, Pinterest Ads on 11.28% and Amazon Advertising on 11.09%. Prebid is on only 9.31%, against 37.02% on Skimlinks' domains, so these are smaller publishers without a header-bidding stack. Google Analytics is on 77.63%.

Sales signal: AdSense-optimisation, Pinterest and shopping-content tools fit this base better than enterprise ad tech.
