Companies Using ipify
ipify is a free API that tells a browser its own public IP address. Our October 2026 crawl finds 66,052 live domains whose pages call it, and 32,619 of them match a company. Below is the list of companies that use ipify, with size, country, industry and stack. It includes Atlas Copco, Fiserv and Wegmans, whose own site code makes the call, plus Vanguard's adviser site and IQVIA's customer portal. ipify ranks 3rd of the 66 technologies we track in Maps & Geolocation, with 2.7% of the category.
Most of these sites didn't write the call themselves. WordPress runs on 27.1% of ipify domains and Shopify on 25.24%, and on 5 of the 8 Shopify stores in our sample that made the call, an installed app did it. One account stands out. FindLaw's call-tracking script, which runs on Invoca, calls ipify on 3,917 law-firm sites, about 6% of the count. Across a random sample of 70 domains, 45 made the call in our browser, and 24 of those did it through someone else's app, plugin, pixel or site platform.

ipify Usage Statistics
Our crawl counted 44,426 ipify domains in June 2026, 58,693 in July, 62,581 in August, 65,315 in September and 66,052 in October. The 14,267-domain step from June to July isn't a wave of installs. The set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly found ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. After July the monthly gains shrink: 3,888, then 2,734, then 737. Since we began tracking ipify on 16 March 2026, 22,983 domains have dropped it on at least one hostname. When we checked on 13 October, about one in eight of them still called it on another.

Which Countries Use ipify the Most?
Which countries use ipify the most? The United States, with 15,158 matched companies, then Brazil (3,940), India (1,656), the United Kingdom (1,407) and the Netherlands (881). Brazil is the one to notice. It has about 26 companies here for every 100 American ones, against about 17 on IPinfo's profile. Part of the reason is one website builder for insurance brokers: 16 of the 18 insurance-matched ipify sites we opened were Brazilian brokers on OnCorretor's template, which calls ipify from the page itself. These counts cover the 32,619 domains we matched to a company.
Share of the 32,619 ipify domains we matched to a company record — 49.4% of the 66,052 we detect. Top 15 countries shown, so these do not sum to 100%. Domains with no matching company record are not represented here and skew small and independent.
ipify Market Share Among Maps & Geolocation
What is ipify's market share? 2.7% of Maps & Geolocation, 3rd of the 66 technologies we track there, based on our live crawl at TechnologyChecker.io. The table mixes map libraries with IP lookup services, so the two above ipify are a different kind of product: Google Maps holds 78.07% with 1,908,503 domains, and Leaflet's profile counts 246,886. Among the lookup services, ipify's 66,052 domains put it ahead of IPinfo (43,583), and the profiles for ipapi.co and ip-api count 41,649 and 29,663 in September.
Top Competitors by Market Share
ipify Customers by Company Size & Age
What size companies use ipify? Mostly small ones. 55.72% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.81% have 11 to 50, so 80.53% have 50 or fewer. 853 companies have more than 1,000 staff. At those, the call usually sits on one property rather than the whole estate: Vanguard's adviser site, the login page of IQVIA's customer portal, Under Armour's help centre, Pilot Flying J's store locator.
Company Size Distribution
Company Age (Founded Decade)
The largest group of matched companies was founded in the 2010s (36.41%), then the 2020s (18.51%) and the 2000s (17%). The old end is thicker than IPinfo's. 6.03% were founded before 1960, against 2.99% on IPinfo's profile, and Guardian Life (1860), Atlas Copco (1873), WM (1894) and Wegmans (1916) all made the call when we opened their sites.
What Industries Use ipify the Most?
Retail leads at 8.97%, then Insurance (7.07%), Law Practice (6.48%) and Financial Services (4.1%), based on our enriched company data. Add Legal Services (3.32%) and law reaches 9.8%, ahead of retail. That isn't lawyers choosing ipify. FindLaw's call-tracking script makes the call on 3,917 law-firm sites, and a Brazilian broker template does the same on most of the insurance sites we opened.
Retailers using ipify include Wegmans, whose Next.js site makes the call, Chico's on its online store and BBC Shop through a Shopify upsell app. Financial services companies on ipify include Fiserv on its main site, and Vanguard on its adviser site and Capital Group, both through Adobe's tag manager. Law firms using ipify mostly get it from FindLaw, whose call-tracking script runs on their sites.
ipify Alternatives & Competitors
Sites that call one lookup service often call another. 5,296 ipify domains also call IPinfo today, out of 7,819 ever seen with both, so the pair doesn't pass our switching tests. 111 run ipgeolocation as well. The smaller rows count different things. IP2Location's 2,046 domains are sites running its WordPress redirection plugin, and ipgeolocation's 1,539 is what's left after removing sites where only another vendor's chatbot or consent banner called it. Google Maps (1,908,503 domains) is in the table because the category includes maps.

Expert Analysis: ipify Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

I expected ipify to look like the other IP lookup services in our crawl: a developer tool that site owners add on purpose. Mostly it doesn't. Our October 2026 crawl counts a domain when its pages call ipify, which hands back the visitor's public IP address and nothing else. That gives 66,052 live domains, 32,619 matched to a company, 3rd of 66 in Maps & Geolocation. I drew 70 domains at random from the live set and watched each one in a headless browser on 13 October. 45 made the call. The other 25 blocked us, failed to load or stayed quiet for the nine seconds we waited.
Who actually makes the call
For each of the 45, I followed the request back to the script that sent it. 24 came from someone else's code. Five law-firm sites called it through FindLaw's call-tracking script and five Shopify stores through apps: a sales pop-up, a social login, a spin-to-win wheel, Littledata's analytics and Razorpay's checkout. Four used lead-tracking pixels, three a WordPress firewall plugin, and seven more a site platform or widget, including OnCorretor, a Brazilian site builder for insurance brokers. The other 21 called ipify from their own code, seven of them through Google Tag Manager.
FindLaw is the one carrier big enough to move the total. Its scripts load on 4,004 domains in our crawl, and 3,917 of them call ipify, about 6% of the count. The five I opened all used the same Invoca call-tracking account. OnCorretor comes next: 1,933 Brazilian ipify domains carry insurance-broker titles, and 16 of the 18 insurance sites I opened ran its template.
Sales signal: an ipify detection rarely means the owner picked ipify. Read it as a sign that the site runs lead capture, call tracking or a store app that wants the visitor's IP, and segment by the carrier before you pitch.
Growth trajectory
The chart reads 44,426 in June 2026, 58,693 in July, 62,581 in August, 65,315 in September and 66,052 in October. Most of the June to July step of 14,267 is on our side: the domains we crawl turn over every month, with dead sites out and newly found ones in, and our detection widens over time. After July the gains shrink each month, down to 737 in October. 22,983 domains dropped ipify on at least one hostname since we started tracking it on 16 March 2026. On 13 October, 2,809 of the 23,047 then on that list still called it on another hostname.
"Ask who uses ipify and the honest answer is usually somebody's app. The owner installed a store app or a law-firm website package, and ipify came with it." - Elif Arslan, CMO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: treat this as a flat pool of about 66,000 domains. Churn follows the carriers: when a store removes the app that made the call, ipify leaves with it.
Who the customers are
55.72% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees, and 80.53% have 50 or fewer. That's a little more small-business-heavy than IPinfo's profile, at 50.2%. There are 853 companies with more than 1,000 staff, and they reach ipify in different ways. Atlas Copco, Fiserv and Wegmans call it from their own site code. Vanguard's adviser site and Capital Group load it through Adobe's tag manager, GAO and Guardian Life through Google Tag Manager. Lenskart and Voltas get it from their cookie-consent scripts, and IQVIA from the checks on its customer-portal login.
Sales signal: at a large company, find the team that owns the property making the call: the adviser portal, the login page, the help centre. That team bought the tool that needs the IP.
Industry and geography
Retail leads at 8.97%, then Insurance (7.07%), Law Practice (6.48%) and Financial Services (4.1%). Add Legal Services (3.32%) and law reaches 9.8%, ahead of retail, which is FindLaw showing through. Insurance is mostly OnCorretor's broker sites. The United States has 15,158 matched companies, then Brazil with 3,940, India 1,656, the United Kingdom 1,407 and the Netherlands 881. Brazil has about 26 companies for every 100 American ones here, against about 17 on IPinfo's profile.
Sales signal: for Portuguese-language outreach, the Brazilian insurance brokers are a ready vertical list, all on one builder. Selling to them means selling through OnCorretor or to it.
Overlap with other lookup services
Our switching table is empty for ipify, and that fits what we see: sites add lookup services next to each other rather than swap one for another. Of the 7,819 domains ever seen with both ipify and IPinfo, 5,296 still run both. With Google Maps the figures are 11,043 and 6,354, and with ipgeolocation 161 and 111. A site running ipify and IPinfo together may be taking the address from one and the location from the other.
"We see no sign of sites leaving ipify for a rival. Two in three sites that ever ran it next to IPinfo still run both, because each answers a different question." - Elif Arslan, CMO & Co-founder at TechnologyChecker.io
Sales signal: for a paid geolocation vendor, the 5,296 domains running ipify and IPinfo together have already shown they want location data, not just an address.
The stack around it
Google Analytics runs on 69.95% of the 65,012 domains in our clean live set, WordPress on 27.1% and Shopify on 25.24%. Cloudflare Browser Insights (15.82%) and Amazon Web Services (14.23%) follow, and WP Engine hosts 8.36%. Invoca is on 7.63%, mostly FindLaw's call tracking again. Next.js sites (7.6%) tend to write the call themselves: in my sample, Wegmans, WM and three smaller Next.js sites did it from their own bundles. ASP.NET is on 7.48% and Adobe Analytics on 9.32%.
Sales signal: filter on the carrier as well as the stack. ipify with Invoca means a law firm, ipify with Shopify means a store app, and ipify with Next.js often means an in-house build. Those are three different conversations.
What it costs
ipify's IP address API is free. Its site says you can use it without limit, that it logs no visitor information and that it's open source. Randall Degges, who built it, wrote on Heroku's blog that it grew past 10,000 requests a second, about 30 billion a month. Calls made from servers never reach a crawler, so our 66,052 is only the browser-side slice. The paid product is the IP Geolocation API: its pricing page lists a free plan of 1,000 credits, then monthly plans from $15 for 10,000 credits and $39 for 300,000 (checked 13 October 2026).
Sales signal: no one on this list pays for the address lookup itself, so there's no contract to displace. A paid geolocation or fraud vendor is selling an upgrade from a free one-field answer.
Key takeaways
1. 66,052 live domains, 3rd of 66 in Maps & Geolocation. Among IP lookup services that puts it ahead of IPinfo (43,583), ipapi.co (41,649) and ip-api (29,663).
2. In our sample, 24 of the 45 calls came from another vendor's code: apps, pixels, plugins and site platforms.
3. FindLaw's call tracking makes the call on 3,917 law-firm sites, about 6% of the count.
4. 55.72% of matched companies have 10 or fewer staff, and Brazil is second by country.
5. 5,296 domains run ipify and IPinfo side by side, and we see no switching between them.
How to use this list
Split the list by carrier first. Filter Law Practice and Legal Services to find the FindLaw group, Shopify for app-driven stores, and Brazil plus Insurance for the OnCorretor brokers. What's left leans towards sites that wrote the call themselves, and that's where a geolocation or fraud vendor has a technical buyer. An opener for that group: "Your site asks ipify for each visitor's IP address. If that feeds fraud checks or routing, we can return the location and risk data in the same call." Frequently Asked Questions
Who uses ipify?
Mostly small businesses, plus a real enterprise tail. Our October 2026 crawl finds 66,052 live domains calling ipify, and 55.72% of matched companies with a known size have 10 or fewer staff. Named users include Atlas Copco, Fiserv, Wegmans, Vanguard's adviser site and IQVIA's customer portal. About 6% of the domains are law-firm sites where FindLaw's call-tracking script makes the call.
How many customers does ipify have?
ipify has users rather than customers: its IP address API is free and needs no account. Our October 2026 crawl finds 66,052 live domains that call it, 32,619 matched to a company. Its creator wrote on Heroku's blog that it handles about 30 billion requests a month, and calls made from a server never reach a crawler. 22,983 domains have dropped it since March 2026.
What is ipify's market share?
2.7% of Maps & Geolocation, 3rd of the 66 technologies we track there, on 66,052 domains. The two above it are map products, Google Maps (78.07%) and Leaflet. Among IP lookup services ipify is ahead of IPinfo (43,583 domains), IP2Location's WordPress plugin (2,046) and ipgeolocation (1,539). The profiles for ipapi.co and ip-api, filed under visitor identification, counted 41,649 and 29,663 in September.
What are the best alternatives to ipify?
It depends on what you need back. ipify returns only the visitor's IP address. IPinfo, ipapi.co, ip-api, ipgeolocation and IP2Location.io return location data as well. In our crawl, 5,296 ipify domains also call IPinfo today, so the two often run side by side. If you'd rather not send visitors' IPs to a third party, IP2Location's free LITE database runs on your own server.
Which countries use ipify the most?
The United States, with 15,158 matched companies, then Brazil (3,940), India (1,656), the United Kingdom (1,407) and the Netherlands (881). Brazil's second place is unusual: ipify has about 26 Brazilian companies per 100 American ones, and IPinfo's profile about 17. Insurance-broker sites built on OnCorretor, a Brazilian site builder, explain part of that. These counts cover the 32,619 domains matched to a company.
What size companies use ipify?
Mostly small ones. 55.72% of matched companies with a known size have 1 to 10 employees and 24.81% have 11 to 50, so 80.53% have 50 or fewer. 853 companies have more than 1,000 staff. At those, ipify usually sits on one property, such as Vanguard's adviser site, the login page of IQVIA's customer portal or Under Armour's help centre, rather than across the whole estate.
How old are companies that use ipify?
Among matched companies with a known founding year, the largest group dates from the 2010s (36.41%), then the 2020s (18.51%) and the 2000s (17%). The old end is thicker than IPinfo's: 6.03% of ipify companies were founded before 1960, against 2.99% on IPinfo's profile. What is ipify used for?
ipify returns the public IP address of whoever calls it. On websites, a script asks it for the visitor's IP and passes the answer on: to a lead form, a call-tracking session, a login risk check or a Shopify app. Of the 45 sites we watched make the call in October 2026, 24 did it through a third-party tool rather than their own code.
Is the ipify API safe to use?
ipify says it logs no visitor information and that its code is open source on GitHub. The bigger question for a site owner is what else on the page calls it. On 24 of the 45 sites we traced, the call came from an app, plugin, pixel or platform, so visitors' IP addresses went to ipify without the owner writing that code. Check which scripts do it.
How much does ipify cost?
The IP address API is free. ipify.org says you can use it without limit, even at millions of requests a minute, and there's no sign-up. The separate IP Geolocation API at geo.ipify.org is paid: its free plan gives 1,000 credits, and monthly plans start at $15 for 10,000 credits, then $21 for 100,000 and $39 for 300,000. Checked on 13 October 2026.
Who is ipify?
ipify is a free public IP address API created by the developer Randall Degges, who tells the story of building it on Heroku's blog. The code is open source on GitHub. By his account it grew past 10,000 requests a second, about 30 billion a month. A paid product under the same name, geo.ipify.org, sells IP geolocation lookups by the credit.
Why do websites call api.ipify.org?
Usually because something on the page wants the visitor's IP. In a random sample of 70 ipify domains, 45 made the call in our browser. On five law-firm sites FindLaw's call-tracking script did it, on five Shopify stores an app, on four sites a lead-tracking pixel and on three a WordPress firewall plugin. 21 sites called it from their own code or tag manager.
What is the difference between ipify and IPinfo?
ipify answers one question, the caller's IP address, for free and without an account. IPinfo returns data about an IP, such as country, city and network, and can take an account token. In our October 2026 crawl ipify is on 66,052 domains and IPinfo on 43,583. They overlap rather than compete: of 7,819 domains ever seen with both, 5,296 still run both.
How does TechnologyChecker.io detect ipify?
We count a domain when a page loads a script from an ipify.org address or requests api.ipify.org, api64.ipify.org or geo.ipify.org. That catches calls from the site's own code and from apps and plugins alike, so a store can appear here without its owner ever choosing ipify. Calls made from a server never reach a crawler, so they aren't counted.
