Companies Using IBM Cloud

Our live crawl finds IBM Cloud on 1,405 domains in the August 2026 rollup, and 1,291 of them, 91.9%, resolve to an identifiable organisation. The companies using IBM Cloud named further down include Orange, CVS Health, Lowe's, Optum, RBC, IKEA, AON, ING Group, Capital One and Danone. IBM Cloud is IBM's public cloud: compute, storage, Watson AI services and managed Red Hat OpenShift.

What puts a domain on this list is a DNS TXT record beginning ibmid=, the record a company publishes to bind a domain it controls to an IBMid account. A DNS check on 30 sampled domains returned a live record on all 30, so the signal itself is solid. What it is a signal of matters more. The record proves an account existed. It does not prove anything is running on IBM Cloud today, and it never expires. Because DNS resolves at the domain, 100% of these detections are the apex or its www host, where 15.0% of Amazon ALB detections and 3.5% of Nginx detections sit off the apex. There is no subdomain story on this page.

That mechanism explains the customer mix. Company size here is close to flat. 51-200 employees is the largest band at 259 of the 1,281 companies with a headcount on file, 20.22%, and 1001-5000 is level with it at 258, 20.14%. No band holds more than a fifth, and 445 of those companies, 34.74%, employ 200 or fewer. Counted on domains instead, 124 of the 1,405, 8.83%, belong to organisations with 8,000 or more employees. A verification record is free to publish and carries no spend tier, so a small consultancy and a global bank leave the same mark.

Location is the other number worth pausing on. The United States holds 465 of the 1,275 companies we could place, 36.47%, with the United Kingdom second on 11.61% and Australia third on 7.29%, which leaves 810 of those companies, 63.53%, outside the US. IBM Cloud ranks 8th of the 19 technologies we track in Cloud Infrastructure on 0.18% share, a category led by object storage counted from asset URLs on crawled pages, which is a different measurement from a record in DNS. Below you can filter the websites using IBM Cloud by size, country, industry and co-installed technology. Data current to our August 2026 rollup.

IBM Cloud Usage Statistics

IBM Cloud reads 1,252 domains on our June 2026 rollup, 1,388 in July and 1,405 in August. Three points cannot carry a rate of change, and this movement is coverage rather than adoption. Across the whole crawl, active detections went from 321.0M in June to 352.2M in August, a 9.7% widening of what we can see. The mechanism pushes the same way. A domain enters this set the first time we resolve an ibmid= record on it, and because a TXT record costs nothing to keep and nobody goes looking for old ones to delete, it effectively never leaves. A series built on a marker that only accumulates will slope upward whether or not anyone opened an account. The August figure, 1,405, is the one quoted at the top of this page.

List of Companies Using IBM Cloud

Our list of companies using IBM Cloud on TechnologyChecker.io covers 34 of the 1,291 matched organisations, ordered by LinkedIn following. Read it with one correction applied. All 34 sit in the 10001+ employee band and the base does not: 445 of the 1,281 companies with a headcount on file, 34.74%, employ 200 or fewer. Following order selects for the largest brands, so this table is the visible end of the distribution rather than a sample of it. The detection URLs are uniform in a way worth noticing. orange.com, cvshealth.com, lowes.com, rbc.com, ing.com, capitalone.com, aon.com, ikea.com and www.taskus.com are all the apex domain or its www host, because a DNS record belongs to the domain and not to a page or a hostname. Counts here are domains, not accounts, seats or licences, and one organisation can hold several: a group that verifies its country domains separately appears once per domain. Two rows come from the company record rather than the brand, so read them with the domain: bny.com is filed as "BNY Mellon Capital Markets, LLC" and ikea.com as "Ikea Ab" with a Netherlands address.

There are 1,405 companies and domains where we detect IBM Cloud, sign up to download the entire IBM Cloud dataset.

Here are some of the most recognisable companies using IBM Cloud and brands using IBM Cloud in 2026, each with the domain the ibmid= record was found on:

  • Orange Group – French telecommunications group, on orange.com
  • CVS Health Corporation – the largest of the health care detections, on cvshealth.com
  • Lowe's – US home improvement retailer recorded at 1921, on lowes.com
  • RBC – Canadian bank recorded at 1864, on rbc.com
  • ING Group – Dutch bank, on ing.com
  • Capital One – US financial services group, on capitalone.com
  • AON – London-headquartered risk and insurance broker, on aon.com
  • IKEA – filed as "Ikea Ab" against a Netherlands address, on ikea.com
  • United Airlines – recorded at 1926, on united.com
  • Petroleo Brasileiro SA – one of the Brazilian detections, on petrobras.com.br
  • E.ON – German utility, on eon.com
  • BNY – recorded at 1784, the oldest founding year in the named list, on bny.com

Every one of these is the apex domain. A verification record identifies the organisation that controls the domain, so it tells you an IBMid account was set up against it. It does not tell you which IBM Cloud services sit behind that account, or whether any are still in use.

Which Countries Use IBM Cloud the Most?

Which countries use IBM Cloud the most? The United States holds 465 of the 1,275 companies we could place, 36.47%, which leaves 810, 63.53%, outside it. The United Kingdom is second on 148 (11.61%) and Australia third on 93 (7.29%), then France 61 (4.78%), Sweden and Germany level on 59 each (4.63%), Canada 39 (3.06%), New Zealand 28 (2.2%), Spain 27 (2.12%) and Brazil 26 (2.04%). The fifteen countries listed cover 1,094 of the 1,275, 85.8%. Two clusters sit inside that: the nine European countries in the list carry 429 companies, 33.65%, and Australia with New Zealand carries 121, 9.49%. The named detections agree. Orange, Danone and GEODIS in France, ING Group and Rabobank in the Netherlands, AON, Diageo and Intertek in the United Kingdom, Intesa Sanpaolo in Italy, E.ON in Germany, DSV in Denmark, Primark in Ireland, Petrobras and Santander's Brazilian group in Brazil, Yes Bank in Mumbai, RBC and Bell Canada in Canada. Sixteen of the 34 companies named on this page, 47.06%, are American, and that list is ordered by LinkedIn following rather than by country.

IBM Cloud Market Share Among Cloud Infrastructure

What is IBM Cloud's market share? IBM Cloud holds 0.18% of our Cloud Infrastructure category and ranks 8th of the 19 technologies in it, on 1,405 domains. Read that as a count of domains carrying a marker and nothing else. The category is dominated by Amazon S3 on 659,040 domains and 86.13%, then DigitalOcean Spaces (41,623, 5.44%), Google Cloud Storage (26,268, 3.43%) and Alibaba Cloud (18,768, 2.45%). Those rows are found in asset URLs on the pages we crawl, so a domain joins them the moment one image or script is served from a bucket. IBM Cloud joins on a DNS record a company publishes once per domain, and only when it sets up an account. Two surfaces, one shared denominator. The gap to 7th is 0.01 of a percentage point, HPE GreenLake at 0.19%, which is a second reason not to read the ordering as a market position. Docker, 6th on 0.5%, is the one row above IBM Cloud that we match the same way, on its own domain verification record.

IBM Cloud Customers by Company Size & Age

What size companies use IBM Cloud? The distribution is close to flat, and that is the finding. 51-200 employees is the largest band at 259 of the 1,281 companies with a headcount on file, 20.22%, and 1001-5000 is level with it at 258, 20.14%. Nothing else reaches 15%: 201-500 is 188 (14.68%), 10001+ is 170 (13.27%), 501-1000 is 132 (10.3%), 11-50 is 106 (8.27%), 5001-10000 is 88 (6.87%) and 1-10 is 80 (6.25%). Grouped, 445 companies, 34.74%, employ 200 or fewer, and 516, 40.28%, employ more than 1,000. On the domain basis, 124 of the 1,405 domains, 8.83%, belong to organisations with 8,000 or more employees. This is not the shape an enterprise-only product produces, and the mechanism is why: publishing a TXT record to verify a domain is free and takes one DNS edit, so it records that an account exists at any tier, from a trial upward. The 34 companies named further down all sit in the 10001+ band because that table is ordered by LinkedIn following, not because the base is.

Company Size Distribution

Company Age (Founded Decade)

Pre-1960 is the largest bucket at 243 of the 981 companies with a founding year on file, 24.77%, ahead of the 2000s at 165 (16.82%) and the 1990s at 158 (16.11%). Adding the older decades, 640 of the 981, 65.24%, were founded before 2000, against 176, 17.94%, founded since 2010. The named list carries the weight of that: BNY is recorded at 1784, Aetna at 1853, RBC at 1864, Intertek at 1885, Rabobank at 1898, GEODIS at 1904, Danone at 1919 and Lowe's at 1921. Two cautions on the buckets. A founding year comes from the company record, so a restructured group can carry a later date than the business it continues, and Intesa Sanpaolo is recorded at 2007 and Optum at 2012 for that reason. And 310 of the 1,291 matched companies have no year on file at all, which is why this chart divides by 981 rather than by the full set.

What Industries Use IBM Cloud the Most?

Advertising Services leads at 96 of the 1,251 companies with a recorded industry, 7.67%, ahead of Financial Services at 55 (4.4%) and Hospitality at 49 (3.92%). Read the single rows and you would call this an agency product, which it is not. Group the related labels and the real concentration appears: Financial Services, Banking and Insurance together are 139 companies, 11.11%, while IT Services and IT Consulting with Software Development is 79, 6.31%. The twelve labels shown cover 521 companies, 41.65%, so 730 of the 1,251, 58.35%, sit outside them and are spread thinly. Advertising Services is also the row to treat with the most caution. Two things can put a label that high and this page cannot separate them. One is straightforward account setup. The other is a counting effect: we count domains, and an organisation that verifies several domains contributes several rows behind a single account. That label is broad on LinkedIn as well, covering agencies, media firms and marketing services businesses of very different kinds.

Advertising Services96 (7.67%)
Financial Services55 (4.4%)
Hospitality49 (3.92%)
Banking43 (3.44%)
Insurance41 (3.28%)
IT Services and IT Consulting40 (3.2%)

Banks and insurers using IBM Cloud are the largest real cluster on this page once the labels are grouped. Financial Services (55, 4.4%), Banking (43, 3.44%) and Insurance (41, 3.28%) come to 139 companies, 11.11% of the 1,251 with a recorded industry, and the named detections match that weight: RBC on rbc.com, ING Group on ing.com, Capital One, BNY, BlackRock, AON, Intesa Sanpaolo, Rabobank, Santander's Brazilian group and Yes Bank. Advertising Services is the largest single label at 7.67% and has no counterpart at all in the 34 named companies, which is itself information about how those 96 companies reached this page: they are numerous rather than large. Hospitality at 3.92% has no counterpart in the named list either. The rest of the top twelve reads like a general enterprise base rather than a vertical: IT Services and IT Consulting at 3.2% (Alorica, Fiserv), Software Development at 3.12%, Hospitals and Health Care at 2.88% (CVS Health, Optum, Elevance Health), Retail at 2.8% (Lowe's, IKEA, Primark), Real Estate at 2.8%, Utilities at 2.32% (E.ON) and Food and Beverage Manufacturing at 1.84% (Danone). Read two of these labels with the domain rather than the brand: aetna.com is filed under Wellness and Fitness Services rather than Insurance, and ttec.com and taskus.com under Outsourcing and Offshoring Consulting rather than IT Services.

IBM Cloud Alternatives & Competitors

Cloud Infrastructure is a category whose members are counted on different surfaces, so this table needs reading twice. Amazon S3 holds 86.13% of it on 659,040 domains, with DigitalOcean Spaces at 5.44% (41,623), Google Cloud Storage at 3.43% (26,268), Alibaba Cloud at 2.45% (18,768) and Alibaba Cloud Object Storage at 1.46% (11,150). Every one of those is object storage, and a domain joins those rows when a crawled page serves a single asset from a bucket, which can happen without anyone signing a contract. IBM Cloud's 1,405 domains come from a verification record in DNS. That is the difference between counting a file and counting an account, and no ratio between the two columns means anything. The comparison that does hold is Docker, 6th in the same category on 0.5% and 3,788 domains, matched on its own docker-verification record: same category, same mechanism, 2.7 times the domains. Postman's published API documentation is the third profile we build on this mechanism, in a different category. If what you want is IBM Cloud's standing against AWS, Azure or Google Cloud as businesses, this table cannot give it to you, and neither can any table built from web detections.

IBM Cloud Customer Migration

There is no switching table here, and the reason is not that the query came back empty. It returned counts. The largest corridor we measured for IBM Cloud is 19 domains, and the candidates sit on object storage rows in the same category. We suppressed the table because those corridors fail the test we apply before publishing one: the two technologies have to fill the same functional role, and they have to be measured on surfaces that can be compared. Object storage found in an asset URL and a cloud account found in a DNS TXT record fail both halves. A company that stops serving images from a bucket has not left IBM Cloud, and a company that publishes an ibmid= record has not left a bucket. Printing 19 domains as a migration trend would be an invented number wearing a chart. The churn figure says the same thing from the other side: 8 domains have dropped IBM Cloud since we began tracking in March 2026, 0.57% of the 1,405 counted here, which is a fact about DNS housekeeping rather than about retention.

Tech Stack of IBM Cloud-Powered Websites

The co-occurrence table on this page mixes two kinds of evidence, and the section headings show where the line falls. Microsoft 365 on 56.24% of these domains is another account marker read out of DNS rather than software found on a page, and Atlassian, which has no icon in our dictionary and so is absent from the table, sits at 46.28% on the same basis. Rows like those say the company verified a domain with another vendor too, which is close to saying the company is a real business with a corporate IT function. The rest is read from the pages themselves and is the website's own stack: Google Tag Manager on 78.32%, Google Analytics on 70.14%, Cloudflare on 50.65%, Priority Hints on 44.04%, Google Font API on 40.7%, WordPress on 33.47% and OneTrust on 31.42%. Now notice what is missing. Nothing in this table identifies an IBM-operated delivery layer. A third of these domains run WordPress and half sit behind Cloudflare, which is what a corporate website looks like when the website is not the thing the cloud account was opened for. The marker belongs to the domain, and the workload it was bought for may sit somewhere no web crawler can see. One denominator note: co-occurrence is measured across the 1,467 domains our live crawl currently answers for IBM Cloud, a slightly wider set than the 1,405 in the August rollup this page's headline uses, so every percentage in this table divides by 1,467. On that same basis 88.0% of the domains match to a company record, against roughly 46% on Amazon ALB, because a domain carrying a corporate DNS record is a registered business rather than a parked name.

Expert Analysis: IBM Cloud Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

David Thomson
David ThomsonCTO, TechnologyChecker

This page counts IBMid account records, not running workloads

Everything on this profile follows from one clause. A domain is counted when it publishes a DNS TXT record beginning ibmid=, which a company adds to prove it controls the domain while binding it to an IBMid account. A DNS check on 30 sampled domains returned a live record on all 30, so the marker is not in doubt. What it certifies is.

The record proves an account existed. It does not prove anything is running on IBM Cloud today, and it never expires. A company could have closed the account in 2019 and the record would still be sitting in its zone file, because removing it fixes nothing and nobody audits DNS for records that have stopped mattering. When you read 1,405 domains, read it as 1,405 domains that were bound to an IBMid account at some point and have not cleaned up.

Two other numbers on this page are consequences of that clause rather than facts about IBM. 100% of the detections are the apex domain or its www host, because DNS resolves at the domain and cannot resolve anywhere else. For contrast, 15.0% of Amazon ALB detections and 3.5% of Nginx detections sit off the apex, and the career-site platforms we profile run 61% to 69% off it. There is no deployment story to tell here at all. And 88.0% of these domains match to a company record, against roughly 46% on Amazon ALB, because a domain with a corporate DNS record is a registered business rather than a parked name or a personal site.

A TXT record is a receipt, not a heartbeat. It tells you a company signed up. It cannot tell you whether anyone came back.

The co-occurrence table makes the same argument from the other direction. Nothing in it identifies an IBM-operated delivery layer. A third of these domains run WordPress and half sit behind Cloudflare. That is not a contradiction. It means the corporate website is generally not the thing the cloud account was opened for, and the workload it was opened for may sit somewhere no web crawler can reach.

The size distribution is flat, and that is the result

On most infrastructure profiles the size chart resolves into something obvious. Here it does not. 51-200 employees is the largest band at 259 of the 1,281 companies with a headcount on file, 20.22%, and 1001-5000 is level with it at 258, 20.14%. Nothing else clears 15%. Grouped, 445 companies, 34.74%, employ 200 or fewer, and 516, 40.28%, employ more than 1,000. On the domain basis, 124 of the 1,405, 8.83%, belong to organisations of 8,000 or more.

Two ties at 20% in bands nine years of hiring apart is not what an enterprise-only product looks like, and the mechanism explains it. Publishing a TXT record is free and takes one DNS edit. A trial account and a signed enterprise agreement leave the identical mark, so the chart records the existence of accounts across every tier rather than the shape of a customer base.

Location behaves the same way and is the more interesting half. The United States holds 465 of the 1,275 companies we could place, 36.47%, which leaves 63.53% elsewhere, with the United Kingdom at 11.61% and Australia at 7.29%. The nine European countries in the list carry 429 companies, 33.65%. Sixteen of the 34 companies named on this page are American, and that table is ordered by LinkedIn following, so even the largest-brand end of the distribution is majority non-US. Age agrees: 640 of the 981 companies with a founding year, 65.24%, predate 2000, with BNY recorded at 1784, Aetna at 1853, RBC at 1864 and Rabobank at 1898.

One row deserves a warning label. Advertising Services is the largest single industry at 7.67% of the 1,251 companies with a recorded industry, ahead of Financial Services at 4.4%, yet not one of the 34 named companies carries that label. Those 96 companies are numerous rather than large, and because we count domains, an organisation that verifies several of them contributes several rows behind a single account. Group the labels instead and the real concentration appears: Financial Services, Banking and Insurance together are 139 companies, 11.11%, which is the cluster the named list reflects with RBC, ING Group, Capital One, BNY, BlackRock, AON, Intesa Sanpaolo and Rabobank.

Rank 8 on 0.18% is a domain count taken on a surface the leaders do not share

IBM Cloud ranks 8th of the 19 technologies in Cloud Infrastructure on 0.18% share. Anyone who knows what IBM Cloud is as a business will find that absurd, and they are right to, so it is worth being exact about what the number is doing. Amazon S3 holds 86.13% of the category on 659,040 domains, followed by DigitalOcean Spaces at 5.44%, Google Cloud Storage at 3.43% and Alibaba Cloud at 2.45%. Those are object storage rows, found in asset URLs on the pages we crawl. A domain enters them when one image is served from a bucket.

So the denominator is shared and the surfaces are not. One column counts files being served. The other counts accounts being verified. A ratio between them is arithmetic without a meaning, and the ordering underneath is just as soft: the gap between 7th and 8th is 0.01 of a percentage point.

0.18% of a category is not 0.18% of a market. It is the fraction of domains carrying one marker, in a table where the other markers are read off something else entirely.

The one row above IBM Cloud measured the same way is Docker, 6th on 0.5% and 3,788 domains, matched on its own domain verification record. Same category, same mechanism, 2.7 times the domains, and that comparison is fair. The third profile we build this way is Postman's published API documentation, in a different category. If you want IBM Cloud's position against AWS, Azure or Google Cloud as businesses, no table built from web detections will give it to you, including ours.

Near-zero churn and an empty migration table, for the same reason

8 domains have dropped IBM Cloud since we began tracking in March 2026, 0.57% of the 1,405 on this page. On a normal profile a figure that low would be a retention story. Here it is a statement about DNS hygiene. The marker disappears only when someone deliberately removes a record that costs nothing to keep and breaks nothing when left, which almost never happens. Read 8 as the number of zone files that were tidied, not the number of customers who stayed.

The switching section is empty for a related reason, and it is worth saying plainly that the query did return counts. The largest corridor came back at 19 domains, with candidates sitting on object storage rows in the same category. We suppressed it. A corridor is only publishable when both technologies fill the same functional role and are measured on comparable surfaces, and this one fails both halves. A company that stopped serving assets from a bucket has not migrated off a cloud account, and the two signals could not be compared even if it had.

The monthly series carries the same caution. 1,252 domains in June, 1,388 in July, 1,405 in August. Corpus-wide active detections widened 9.7% over that window, from 321.0M to 352.2M, and a marker that accumulates and never clears can only ever slope upward as coverage grows. Those three points describe how much of this population we could see, not what anyone bought.

What to take from the page. IBM Cloud appears here as 1,405 domains bound to an IBMid account, spread across a flat range of company sizes, weighted toward established businesses, 63.53% of them outside the United States, with banking and insurance the clearest vertical at 11.11%. Use it as a list of organisations that have an IBM relationship worth asking about, which is a real and useful thing. Do not use it as a usage, revenue or workload measure, because the record it rests on was never evidence of any of those. TechnologyChecker.io resolves the 1,405 detections against 1,291 identified organisations and refreshes them every month.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses IBM Cloud?

Our live crawl finds IBM Cloud on 1,405 domains, and 1,291 of them, 91.9%, resolve to an identifiable organisation. Named users include Orange, CVS Health, Lowe's, Optum, RBC, IKEA, AON, ING Group, Capital One, Danone, BlackRock and E.ON. The base behind those names is broader than they suggest. 259 of the 1,281 companies with a headcount on file, 20.22%, employ between 51 and 200 people, almost exactly the share in the 1001-5000 band, and Advertising Services is the largest single industry at 7.67% of the 1,251 companies with a recorded industry.

How many customers does IBM Cloud have?

We detect IBM Cloud on 1,405 active domains as of our August 2026 rollup, and 1,291 of those, 91.9%, resolve to a company record. Counts are domains, not accounts, seats or licences, and one organisation can hold several, for example a group that verifies its country domains separately. A further 8 domains have dropped IBM Cloud since we began tracking in March 2026. Treat the number as a count of domains bound to an IBMid account rather than a customer count: the record proves an account was set up, not that workloads are running today.

What is IBM Cloud's market share?

IBM Cloud holds 0.18% of our Cloud Infrastructure category and ranks 8th of the 19 technologies in it, on 1,405 domains. Amazon S3 (86.13%), DigitalOcean Spaces (5.44%), Google Cloud Storage (3.43%), Alibaba Cloud (2.45%), Alibaba Cloud Object Storage (1.46%), Docker (0.5%) and HPE GreenLake (0.19%) sit above it. That share counts domains carrying a detectable marker, not revenue, workloads or spend, and the comparison is uneven by construction: the rows above are mostly object storage found in asset URLs on crawled pages, while IBM Cloud is found in a DNS verification record. Do not read 0.18% as a share of public cloud.

What are the best alternatives to IBM Cloud?

The honest answer is that this page cannot rank them for you. The products a buyer actually weighs against IBM Cloud are AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, and none of those is visible as a whole business in web detection data: what we can see are individual surfaces, such as Amazon S3 on 659,040 domains, which counts a bucket serving an asset and not a cloud contract. Inside our Cloud Infrastructure category the neighbours by domain count are DigitalOcean Spaces (41,623), Google Cloud Storage (26,268) and Alibaba Cloud (18,768). For managed OpenShift specifically, the comparison set is the other Kubernetes platforms rather than anything on this table.

Which countries use IBM Cloud the most?

The United States leads with 465 of the 1,275 companies we could place, 36.47%, which is low for a technology of this size and leaves 810 companies, 63.53%, elsewhere. The United Kingdom is second on 148 (11.61%), Australia third on 93 (7.29%), then France 61 (4.78%), Sweden and Germany level on 59 each (4.63%), Canada 39 (3.06%), New Zealand 28 (2.2%), Spain 27 (2.12%) and Brazil 26 (2.04%). The fifteen listed countries cover 1,094 of the 1,275, 85.8%.

What size companies use IBM Cloud?

The distribution is close to flat. 51-200 employees is the largest band at 259 of the 1,281 companies with a headcount on file, 20.22%, and 1001-5000 is level with it at 258, 20.14%. Below them, 201-500 is 14.68%, 10001+ is 13.27%, 501-1000 is 10.3%, 11-50 is 8.27%, 5001-10000 is 6.87% and 1-10 is 6.25%. Grouped, 445 companies, 34.74%, employ 200 or fewer and 516, 40.28%, employ more than 1,000. Counted on domains instead of companies, 124 of the 1,405, 8.83%, belong to organisations with 8,000 or more employees.

How old are companies that use IBM Cloud?

Pre-1960 is the largest bucket at 243 of the 981 companies with a founding year on file, 24.77%, ahead of the 2000s at 16.82% and the 1990s at 16.11%. In total 640 of the 981, 65.24%, were founded before 2000, and 176, 17.94%, since 2010. BNY is recorded at 1784, Aetna at 1853, RBC at 1864, Intertek at 1885, Rabobank at 1898, GEODIS at 1904, Danone at 1919 and Lowe's at 1921. Founding years come from the company record, so restructured groups can carry a later date than the business: Intesa Sanpaolo is recorded at 2007 and Optum at 2012.

What is the ideal customer profile for IBM Cloud?

There is no single tight profile here, and the flat size curve is why. The base runs from small firms, 34.74% of matched companies employ 200 or fewer, to large ones, 40.28% employ more than 1,000, with no band above 20.22%. What does concentrate is age and geography: 65.24% of companies with a year on file were founded before 2000, and 63.53% of located companies are outside the United States, led by the United Kingdom at 11.61% and Australia at 7.29%. By industry, Financial Services, Banking and Insurance grouped are 11.11%, while Advertising Services is the largest single label at 7.67%. Read the profile as a wide base of established, internationally spread companies that have set up an IBMid account against a domain.

What does an IBM Cloud detection actually mean?

It means the domain publishes a DNS TXT record beginning ibmid=, which is the record a company adds to prove it controls that domain when it binds it to an IBMid account. A DNS check on 30 sampled domains returned a live record on all 30, so the marker is reliable. What it certifies is narrow: an account was set up against that domain at some point. It does not tell you which services run, how much is spent, whether any workload is live, or when the record was added. It also has a blind spot in the other direction, because a company can consume IBM Cloud without ever verifying a domain, and nothing in DNS would show it.

Are companies leaving IBM Cloud?

8 domains have dropped IBM Cloud since we began tracking in March 2026, 0.57% of the 1,405 counted here. Do not read that as loyalty. The marker is a DNS TXT record, and nobody deletes a TXT record. It costs nothing to keep, it breaks nothing when it is left in place, and DNS zones are rarely audited for records that are no longer needed. A company could have closed its IBM Cloud account years ago and still appear on this page. Near-zero churn on this mechanism measures DNS housekeeping, not retention, and the tracking window is short as well, starting in March 2026.

Why is there no switching data on this page?

Because the corridors we measured could not be published honestly, not because they came back empty. The largest returned 19 domains, and the candidates sit on object storage rows in the same category. A corridor only means something when both technologies fill the same functional role and are measured on comparable surfaces. Object storage detected from an asset URL and a cloud account detected from a DNS record fail both tests, so a domain that appears in both sets tells you nothing about a migration. We would rather show an empty section than a chart built from 19 rows that do not mean what the chart would imply.

Why does the technology table show Microsoft 365 and Cloudflare rather than IBM services?

Because the co-occurrence table is measuring two different things at once. Microsoft 365 at 56.24% and Atlassian at 46.28% are other account markers read from DNS, so those rows mean the company verified a domain with another vendor as well. Google Tag Manager (78.32%), Google Analytics (70.14%), Cloudflare (50.65%), WordPress (33.47%) and OneTrust (31.42%) are read from the pages themselves and describe the corporate website. Nothing in the table identifies an IBM-operated delivery layer, which is the point: the account is bound to the domain, and whatever it runs is not necessarily the website. Percentages in that table divide by the 1,467 domains our live crawl currently answers for IBM Cloud rather than the 1,405 in the August rollup.

Why is Advertising Services the largest industry for IBM Cloud?

It is the largest single label at 96 of the 1,251 companies with a recorded industry, 7.67%, and it is the row to read with the most care. Two explanations fit and this page cannot separate them. One is ordinary account setup. The other is a counting effect, because we count domains: an organisation that verifies several domains contributes several rows behind one account, and the LinkedIn label itself is broad, covering agencies, media firms and marketing services businesses of very different sizes. Note that none of the 34 companies named on this page carries that label, so those 96 companies are numerous rather than large. Grouped, Financial Services, Banking and Insurance at 139 companies, 11.11%, is the larger concentration.

Can this data show which IBM Cloud services a company uses?

No. The record is a single DNS entry that binds a domain to an IBMid account, and it carries no information about products, tiers, regions or spend. Watson AI, managed OpenShift, object storage and bare metal all sit behind the same marker, and a company using none of them today would still appear if the record is still published. The same limit applies to size of usage: one domain counts as one domain whether the account behind it runs a single test project or a production estate. For what runs on the domain's website, the co-occurrence table is the better guide, and it shows a mix of WordPress, Cloudflare and the usual analytics rather than anything IBM-operated.
