Our live crawl identifies 17,956 domains running LearnDash, resolving to 11,222 identifiable organisations. Named users include Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, SickKids, Nordic Semiconductor, Sotera Health, Promethean, Catapult Sports, the Sutton Trust, Caritas International, the American Marketing Association and the UK Labour Party.

LearnDash ranks first in Learning Management (LMS) with 20.74% share, and this is one of the few profiles on this site where the rank needs no apology. Moodle follows on 13,966 domains (16.13%), Skolengo on 13,645 (15.76%) and ThimPress LearnPress on 13,178 (15.22%). Nothing else in the category comes within 4.61 points of the leader.

The dependency underneath that number is close to absolute. 99.97% of LearnDash domains also run WordPress, because LearnDash is a WordPress plugin and has nowhere else to run. That is the product working as designed rather than a detection defect, but it does fix what this page can tell you: every distribution below describes WordPress sites, and none of it measures the LMS market as a whole.

Read the detection URLs and the buyer comes into focus. We find LearnDash at open.chop.edu at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, connectedcare.sickkids.ca in Toronto, academy.soterahealth.com and elearn.education.gov.ng at Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Education. 27 of the 34 named companies below serve it from a dedicated course subdomain, and 64.38% of all LearnDash domains also run WooCommerce, so the common shape is a teaching property that takes payment.

LearnDash Usage Statistics

LearnDash reads 14,389 domains on our first full monthly rollup in June 2026, 16,491 in July and 17,956 in August, a rise of 24.79% across the window. Read that as a trend rather than a same-store comparison: the set of domains we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly discovered ones added, and our detection signals widen over time. The August figure is the one quoted at the top of this page.

List of Companies Using LearnDash

Our list of companies using LearnDash on TechnologyChecker.io covers 34 of the 11,222 matched organisations, ordered by LinkedIn following. Read the detection URLs rather than the domains: 27 of these 34 websites using LearnDash serve it from a dedicated subdomain, and 13 of those subdomains are named for the job, seven prefixed academy, four learn and two education. The brands that use LearnDash here run it as a separate teaching property alongside their main site, not as the site itself.

There are 17,956 companies and websites using LearnDash, sign up to download the entire LearnDash dataset.

Named users include Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (open.chop.edu), SickKids in Toronto (connectedcare.sickkids.ca), Sotera Health, Nordic Semiconductor, Malvern Panalytical, Promethean, Catapult Sports, Tactile Medical, the Sutton Trust, the Child Mind Institute, Caritas International, St John WA and the UK Labour Party. Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Education runs it at elearn.education.gov.ng. One caution on this list: enrichment matches a domain to a LinkedIn record and occasionally picks the wrong company sharing a brand word. The Lafayette row carries a US insurer's name over a Bogotá textile maker's domain and LinkedIn page, and we have left it as recorded rather than quietly patching the row.

Which Countries Use LearnDash the Most?

The United States accounts for 3,355 matched companies, 31.65% of the geographic base, followed by the United Kingdom on 1,043 (9.84%). Australia and Spain tie at 654 each (6.17%), both ahead of Canada on 608 (5.74%). Spain is the surprise: it and the Netherlands together reach 1,211 companies, more than the United Kingdom on its own. The four large English-speaking markets add to 53.40%, so nearly half the base sits outside them.

LearnDash Market Share Among Learning Management (LMS)

LearnDash holds 20.74% of Learning Management (LMS) and ranks 1st. Moodle is second on 13,966 domains (16.13%), then Skolengo on 13,645 (15.76%) and ThimPress LearnPress on 13,178 (15.22%). The more useful cut is by delivery model. LearnDash, LearnPress and Tutor LMS all install into an existing WordPress site, and together they hold 42.29% of the category. Whatever the enterprise LMS market looks like, the volume market runs on WordPress.

LearnDash Customers by Company Size & Age

73.03% of matched LearnDash companies employ 1 to 10 people and 19.75% employ 11 to 50, so 92.78% are under fifty staff. Only 57 companies in the matched set of 10,886 exceed 1,000 employees, which is 0.52%. Hold that against the named list further down, where 16 of 34 companies are over 1,000. That list is ordered by LinkedIn following, so it selects hard for the rare large end and should not be read as the typical install.

What Industries Use LearnDash the Most?

Professional Training and Coaching leads at 12.34%, then E-Learning Providers at 9.82%, Business Consulting and Services at 5.88% and Education at 5.86%. Wellness and Fitness Services adds 4.22% and Non-profit Organizations 3.40%. No single vertical breaks 13%, and the nine rows here account for 49.65% of the 10,373 companies with a recorded industry.

Group the labels and the picture sharpens. Education and e-learning companies using LearnDash, taking E-Learning Providers, Education, Education Administration Programs and Higher Education together, come to 2,210 companies or 21.31% of the base. Add Professional Training and Coaching and organisations whose output is instruction reach 33.65%. The second cluster is health: hospitals and wellness businesses on LearnDash total 697 companies (6.72%), and that is where the largest named users sit, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and SickKids among them. What is absent matters too. No retail, media or manufacturing row appears anywhere in the top nine.

LearnDash Alternatives & Competitors

Moodle is the obvious comparison and the least similar product: a standalone application an institution hosts itself, on 13,966 domains and 16.13% of the category. The nearer rivals are plugins. ThimPress LearnPress reaches 13,178 domains (15.22%) and Tutor LMS 5,476 (6.33%), both installing into the same WordPress site LearnDash would occupy. Skolengo on 13,645 (15.76%) is a school digital workspace rather than a course plugin. Below these six, 44 more technologies split the remaining 21.27%.

Tech Stack of LearnDash-Powered Websites

WordPress on 99.97% is the plugin working as designed, and the jQuery rows (98.17%, with jQuery Migrate on 92.81%) are WordPress shipping its own libraries, so neither tells you anything about the buyer. The informative number is WooCommerce on 64.38%, or 12,002 domains: two in three of these properties sell something. Elementor reaches 54.57% and Yoast SEO 46.28%, the standard WordPress marketing kit. Google Analytics (64.34%) and Google Tag Manager (63.62%) track almost exactly together, and almost exactly with WooCommerce.

Expert Analysis: LearnDash Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Sophie Clarke
Sophie ClarkeProduct Marketing Manager, TechnologyChecker

For once the category rank means what it says

Most category leaders we publish need a caveat before the number is safe to quote. This one does not. LearnDash sits first in Learning Management (LMS) on 17,956 domains and 20.74% share, and the rows beneath it are all software for putting courses online: Moodle on 13,966, Skolengo on 13,645, ThimPress LearnPress on 13,178, Tutor LMS on 5,476, Teachable on 3,940. No card marks, no wallet buttons, no library that ships inside something else. Six ways to put a course on the web, and the leader is 4.61 points clear.

The growth reads the same way. We recorded 14,389 domains in June 2026, 16,491 in July and 17,956 in August, up 24.79% across the window. I would not call that same-store growth. The domain set we crawl turns over every month, with dead sites dropping out and newly discovered ones coming in, and our detection signals widen over time, so part of that rise is us seeing more rather than the market buying more.

A category leader you can quote without a footnote is rarer than it should be. LearnDash is one of the few.

The WordPress number is the product, not a defect

99.97% of LearnDash domains also run WordPress. In most profiles a figure that close to 100% starts a contamination review, because near-total co-occurrence usually means we are counting one product through another. Not here. LearnDash is distributed as a WordPress plugin, has no standalone build, and the 0.03% showing no WordPress signal is noise in our detection rather than a second platform.

Saying that plainly matters more than it sounds, because it sets the boundary on everything else here. When 73.03% of matched companies employ ten people or fewer, that is a fact about who runs a course site on WordPress. It is not a fact about the LMS market. Anyone sizing corporate learning from this page will get the wrong answer, and I would rather write that down than let the charts imply otherwise.

Read the subdomains

This is where I would spend my time if I were selling into this base. Of the 34 named companies below, 27 serve LearnDash from a dedicated subdomain rather than their main site, and 13 of those subdomains announce the job outright: seven start with academy, four with learn, two with education. Children's Hospital of Philadelphia runs it at open.chop.edu. SickKids runs it at connectedcare.sickkids.ca. Sotera Health uses academy.soterahealth.com, Nordic Semiconductor academy.nordicsemi.com, and Nigeria's Federal Ministry of Education elearn.education.gov.ng.

That pattern says the deployment is departmental. A hospital publishing continuing education on a WordPress subdomain has not made LearnDash its corporate learning system. It has handed one team a publishing tool and left the rest of the estate alone. The same pattern explains a mismatch on this page: only 57 companies in the 10,886-company size distribution employ more than 1,000 people, 0.52% of the base, yet 16 of the 34 names below do. That list is ordered by LinkedIn following, so it surfaces exactly the large organisations where one department bought a plugin.

Two thirds of these sites are shops

Strip out the rows WordPress ships for itself, jQuery on 98.17% and jQuery Migrate on 92.81%, and the highest meaningful overlap on this profile is WooCommerce at 64.38%, or 12,002 domains. Elementor sits on 54.57%, Yoast SEO on 46.28%, Google Analytics on 64.34% and Google Tag Manager on 63.62%. Those are the numbers of a commercial site, not an intranet.

The industry mix agrees. Professional Training and Coaching is the largest vertical at 12.34% and E-Learning Providers second at 9.82%. Take the four education labels together and they come to 2,210 companies, 21.31% of the base. Add training and coaching and a third of everything here, 33.65%, exists to teach. There is no retail, media or manufacturing row anywhere in the top nine. LearnDash is mostly not bought by companies that want to train their staff. It is bought by companies whose product is the course.

A real migration corridor, and it is tiny

We suppress most switching data on this site because the pairs we measure usually turn out to be coexistence: both products still present, nobody having replaced anything. LMS plugins are different. A WordPress site is meant to run one LMS, and two of them fight over the same courses, posts and checkout. Installing a second is not a trial, it is a migration in progress, so a corridor here means what the word implies.

The one we can publish is 13 domains moving from LearnDash to Tutor LMS, four of them in the last 30 days. Of the domains that ever ran both, 25.0% still do, which is the shape of a genuine replacement rather than a stack. Everything else failed the same test and stayed out, including the LearnPress pair at 75% still running both.

Thirteen domains out of 17,956 is 0.07%. It is a corridor and it is not a threat, and publishing both halves of that sentence is the whole point.

Where the base actually sits

The geography is less Anglo than the WordPress plugin stereotype predicts. The United States takes 31.65% of matched companies and the United Kingdom 9.84%, then Australia and Spain tie at 654 companies each (6.17%), both ahead of Canada. Spain and the Netherlands together reach 1,211 companies, more than the United Kingdom on its own. The four large English-speaking markets add to 53.40%, which leaves nearly half the base elsewhere.

The age curve is the other surprise. 46.17% of matched companies were founded in the 2010s and 21.75% in the 2020s, so 67.92% post-date 2010. But 15.18% were founded before 2000, and the list below holds an 1855 hospital, an 1875 hospital and a political party founded in 1900. Compare that with the Recharge profile on TechnologyChecker.io, where 78.59% of companies post-date 2010 and the pre-2000 tail barely exists. Course software reaches institutions that direct-to-consumer software never touches.

What to take from this

Three things. LearnDash leads its category on a fair comparison, which is unusual enough to state without hedging. The lead is built on WordPress and ends where WordPress ends, so treat every distribution here as a WordPress statistic and nothing wider. And the buyer is a small organisation that sells teaching, usually with WooCommerce next to it, occasionally a single department inside a hospital or a semiconductor firm.

Since mid-March 2026 our records show 1,781 domains where the LearnDash signal stopped appearing, about 9.92% of the current count. That is churn observed inside one crawl window, not a lifetime total, and set against 24.79% growth over the same period it does not read as decline. It reads as a plugin market: cheap to install, cheap to walk away from, and with 11,222 of 17,956 domains resolving to a named organisation, unusually easy to identify.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses LearnDash?

Our live crawl finds LearnDash on 17,956 domains, resolving to 11,222 identifiable organisations. Named users include Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, SickKids, Nordic Semiconductor, Sotera Health, Promethean and the UK Labour Party. The typical user is far smaller: 73.03% of matched companies employ ten people or fewer, and 12.34% work in professional training and coaching.

How many customers does LearnDash have?

We detect LearnDash on 17,956 active domains as of our August 2026 rollup, of which 11,222 resolve to a company record. TechnologyChecker.io counts domains, not accounts or customers: an organisation running both a course subdomain and a main site can appear twice, and a site with no company match never resolves at all. Read the figure as deployed sites.

What is LearnDash's market share?

LearnDash holds 20.74% of Learning Management (LMS) and ranks first in the category. Moodle is second on 13,966 domains (16.13%), Skolengo third on 13,645 (15.76%) and ThimPress LearnPress fourth on 13,178 (15.22%). LearnDash, LearnPress and Tutor LMS are all WordPress plugins and hold 42.29% between them.

What are the best alternatives to LearnDash?

By deployment the leading alternatives are Moodle (13,966 domains), Skolengo (13,645), ThimPress LearnPress (13,178), Tutor LMS (5,476) and Teachable (3,940). LearnPress and Tutor LMS are the direct substitutes, since they install into the same WordPress site. Moodle is standalone and self-hosted, and Teachable is a hosted platform that replaces the website rather than extending it.

Which countries use LearnDash the most?

The United States leads with 3,355 matched companies, 31.65% of the geographic base, followed by the United Kingdom on 1,043 (9.84%). Australia and Spain tie at 654 each, both ahead of Canada on 608. The Netherlands adds 557 and Germany 307. The four large English-speaking markets account for 53.40%, so nearly half the base sits elsewhere.

What size companies use LearnDash?

73.03% of matched LearnDash companies employ 1 to 10 people and 19.75% employ 11 to 50, so 92.78% are under fifty staff. Only 57 companies in the matched set of 10,886 exceed 1,000 employees. The hospitals and public companies in our named list are real but rare, at 0.52% of the base.

How old are companies that use LearnDash?

46.17% of matched companies were founded in the 2010s and 21.75% in the 2020s, so 67.92% post-date 2010. The older tail is unusually thick for web software: 15.18% were founded before 2000, including Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 1855 and SickKids in 1875. Course software gets bought by old institutions as well as new ones.

What is the ideal customer profile for LearnDash?

A WordPress site owner with 1 to 10 employees, founded since 2010, based in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia or Spain, selling training or coaching. The defining trait is not size but output: the organisation's product is instruction, and 64.38% of LearnDash domains run WooCommerce alongside it to charge for that instruction.

Does LearnDash require WordPress?

Yes. LearnDash ships as a WordPress plugin, and 99.97% of the domains where we detect it also run WordPress. The remaining fraction is measurement noise on our side, not a second platform. Every figure on this page therefore describes WordPress sites, and none of it should be read as evidence about learning management software generally.

How does LearnDash compare to Moodle?

They are not the same kind of product. LearnDash is a plugin that adds courses to a WordPress site you already run. Moodle is a standalone application, hosted and administered on its own. Our crawl finds LearnDash on 17,956 domains (20.74%) against Moodle's 13,966 (16.13%), though both counts cover only course sites reachable on the public web.

Do companies using LearnDash also use WooCommerce?

64.38% of them do, which is 12,002 domains. Setting aside the libraries WordPress ships for itself, that is the largest meaningful overlap on this profile, and it changes how the product should be read: most LearnDash sites are not internal training portals, they are shops that sell courses. Elementor follows at 54.57% and Yoast SEO at 46.28%.

Are LearnDash sites switching to Tutor LMS?

A few. We have observed 13 domains move from LearnDash to Tutor LMS, four of them in the last 30 days, against 17,956 sites where we still detect LearnDash. That is 0.07%, a real corridor rather than a meaningful one. It appears here because two LMS plugins fight over the same WordPress site, so these products genuinely replace each other.
