Companies Using Gatsby

Our live crawl finds Gatsby on 29,767 domains, resolving to 18,199 identifiable companies. Named users include Roche, Mondelez, Reckitt Benckiser, Little Caesars, Stanford Medicine, CenturyLink and Ryanair. Software development is the largest industry at 9.99%, though the base is broader than most developer frameworks.

We detect 29,767 domains running Gatsby across our monthly crawl of live business domains. Company data could be matched for 18,199 of them (61.1%), and every company-size, industry and country breakdown on this page describes that matched subset rather than the full detected base. A further 2,182 domains carried a Gatsby detection previously and no longer do.

Gatsby holds 2.71% of our Static Site Generators category and ranks 3rd of 26 tracked technologies, behind Next.js at 66.60% and Astro at 26.13%. Share is measured by distinct domains where the build signature is detected, and because static output persists until a rebuild, the figure reflects an installed base rather than current adoption.

Next.js (731,970 domains) and Astro (287,180) are the direct substitutes, and our data shows they are where Gatsby sites actually go: 656 departures to Next.js and 472 to Astro on the current window. Hugo (28,690) is a comparable static generator but built on Go rather than React.

The United States leads at 32.81% of matched companies (5,609), followed by the United Kingdom at 9.33% (1,595) and Australia at 8.13% (1,390). Germany at 4.75% and France at 4.29% follow. The Australian share is notably higher than our corpus norm would predict.

Companies with 1 to 10 employees are 53.96% of matched customers and 11 to 50 a further 28.63%. The mid-market is better represented than in most open-source frameworks, with 51 to 200 at 10.13% and organisations above 1,000 employees at 2.54%, reflecting agency-built corporate marketing sites.

Companies founded in the 2010s are the largest group at 46.84% of matched customers, followed by the 2020s at 19.49% and the 2000s at 14.95%. A further 3.90% predate 1960, which is the large-brand segment visible in the named list rather than the typical adopter.

Based on our matched data, the typical Gatsby site belongs to a US, UK or Australian company with fewer than fifty employees in software, IT services or technology, founded in the 2010s, and hosted on Netlify. That profile describes the installed base rather than new adoption, which our migration data shows has largely stopped.

We detect Gatsby on 29,767 domains as of our August 2026 crawl, of which 18,199 match to a named company. Because Gatsby compiles to static output, a site keeps its build signature until it is rebuilt on something else, so this count lags real abandonment rather than leading it.

It is declining. On our current observation window 656 domains that dropped Gatsby now run Next.js and 472 run Astro, against just 38 and 3 moving the other way. We tested that these are real replacements: Next.js appears on 30.06% of domains that left Gatsby but only 2.63% of those that kept it, and Astro on 21.63% against 0.42%.

Software Development leads at 9.99% of matched companies, with IT Services and IT Consulting at 7.55% and Technology, Information and Internet at 4.33%. Construction (3.63%) and Financial Services (3.29%) also feature, reflecting Gatsby's use as an agency delivery framework for corporate marketing sites.

We match Gatsby's own build output in the delivered page: the div#___gatsby application root and the style#gatsby-inlined-css element the framework injects, plus a meta generator tag naming Gatsby and its version. These are produced by the build itself, so a detection indicates the site was genuinely compiled with Gatsby.

Netlify appears on 49.08% of Gatsby domains, the strongest host association in this category. Google Tag Manager is on 67.04% and Google Analytics on 58.48%, both well above what documentation-oriented static hosts show, and Facebook Pixel on 15.62% confirms these are marketing sites rather than developer projects.
