Companies Using SiteGround

Our live crawl identifies 123,341 domains hosted on SiteGround, of which 103,654 resolve to an identifiable organisation. Named users include Hinduja Global Solutions, eClerx, Vistaprint, Old Dominion University, Cal Poly Pomona, Flowers Foods, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Geosyntec Consultants and The Indus Hospital. SiteGround ranks 14th in Web Hosting on 1.27% share.

This profile is unusual in one respect that changes how much weight the number can carry. We identify SiteGround from its authoritative nameservers and SOA record, not from a script tag, a header a proxy can strip or a generator comment a theme can delete. A site cannot remove its own nameservers and remain reachable. Where most of our counts are floors, this one is close to a census of the domains SiteGround serves DNS for.

The other finding is who those domains belong to. Construction is the largest industry at 9.08%, the highest concentration of any host we profile and 1.63 times the next (Kinsta, 5.57%). Add advertising services, business consulting and real estate and 27.83% of SiteGround's base is a local service business. No technology row appears in its top five, which is rare for a hosting company.

SiteGround Usage Statistics

SiteGround reads 64,139 domains on our first full monthly rollup in June 2026 and 123,341 by August 2026. Almost all of that step is our own DNS coverage widening, not migration onto SiteGround. Hosting bases do not double in eight weeks, and unrelated technologies gained domains on the same rollup dates. Quote the August figure and ignore the slope.

List of Companies Using SiteGround

The named list below is ordered by company size and covers 50 of the 103,654 matched organisations. Because the detection is a DNS record rather than a page artefact, these rows describe where the domain is served from, which for a large organisation is often one project or country site rather than the main property.

Which Countries Use SiteGround the Most?

The United States accounts for 41,561 matched companies, 44.24% of the geographic base, with the United Kingdom at 14.58% and Australia at 7.71%. Italy (6.93%), Canada (5.89%) and Spain (4.44%) follow. Italy and Spain at that weight are what separates SiteGround from the US-centric managed hosts; it was founded in Bulgaria and its European footprint reflects that.

SiteGround Market Share Among Web Hosting

SiteGround holds 1.27% of Web Hosting and ranks 14th of 50, behind GoDaddy (4,378,121 domains), Hostinger (1,192,207), IONOS (637,254), OVHcloud (426,618) and WP Engine (348,566). The category mixes registrars, shared hosts and managed WordPress specialists, so the ranking is not a like-for-like comparison: GoDaddy's figure counts domains it registers and parks as well as domains it serves.

SiteGround Customers by Company Size & Age

72.32% of matched SiteGround companies employ 1 to 10 people and 19.68% employ 11 to 50, so 92.00% are under fifty staff. This is the size distribution shared hosting is priced for. The exceptions are genuine rather than noise, and the named list reaches Hinduja Global Solutions, eClerx, LA Metro and Flowers Foods, usually on a campaign or departmental site rather than the corporate estate.

What Industries Use SiteGround the Most?

Construction leads at 9.08%, followed by Advertising Services (7.90%), Business Consulting and Services (6.00%), Retail (5.12%) and Real Estate (4.85%).

Construction4,476 (9.08%)
Advertising Services3,896 (7.9%)
Business Consulting and Services2,958 (6%)
Retail2,523 (5.12%)
Real Estate2,389 (4.85%)
Medical Practices2,271 (4.61%)

Construction at 9.08% is the highest of any host we profile, 1.63 times Kinsta's 5.57% and roughly double GoDaddy's 4.65%. Read it with advertising services, business consulting and real estate and 27.83% of the base is a local service business with a brochure site. The advertising row is the mechanism rather than a market: small agencies build these sites, and an agency puts every client it has on the host it already knows.

SiteGround Alternatives & Competitors

We publish no switching corridors on this profile because none of them survives our coexistence test, and for hosting the reason is worth stating. 7,358 domains have been seen on both SiteGround and GoDaddy and 5,846 still register as both, a 79.45% overlap. That is not indecision about hosting; GoDaddy the registrar and GoDaddy the host reach us through different signals, so a domain bought at GoDaddy and served by SiteGround appears under both names. WP Engine sits at 82.25%, Kinsta 82.28%, OVHcloud 81.09% and IONOS 78.93%. Hostinger is the only pair anywhere near a real corridor at 50.00% on 898 domains, and we judged that too ambiguous to publish.

SiteGround Customer Migration

Tech Stack of SiteGround-Powered Websites

WordPress on 72.64% and Nginx on 76.40% are the two rows that describe the product: SiteGround is a managed WordPress host running its own Nginx stack. The rows underneath describe the customer. Elementor reaches 27.88% and the Divi theme 10.83%, so more than a third of these sites were assembled in a visual page builder rather than coded. Cloudflare is only 16.22%, low for a base this size, because SiteGround ships its own CDN. Google Analytics at 53.70% and Google Tag Manager at 52.01% are modest for a commercial base, which fits small brochure sites built once by an agency.

Expert Analysis: SiteGround Growth Trends & Key Signals for Sales Teams in 2026

Emma Davies
Emma DaviesData Analyst, TechnologyChecker

The rare case where our number is not a floor

Nearly every figure on this site carries the same silent caveat. We detect a technology from something the page exposes, and anything a page exposes, a page can hide. Inline the script, strip the header, delete the generator comment: the software still runs and we stop seeing it. Our counts are lower bounds and we say so.

SiteGround is the exception, and it is worth being precise about why. We identify it from its authoritative nameservers, which follow a fixed pattern under sgvps.net, and from an SOA record naming siteground.net. Those are not page artefacts. They are the records that make the domain resolve at all. There is no configuration that removes them and leaves the site reachable, and there is no proxy in front of the site that can hide them, because DNS resolution happens before the proxy is ever contacted.

So 123,341 is not a floor in the way our other numbers are. It is close to a full count of the domains SiteGround answers DNS for. The comparison worth making is with Jekyll, which we published on the same day: there the only signal is a generator meta tag that any theme can delete in a one-line edit, and the count has to be read as a fraction of an unknown total. Two profiles, one day apart, at opposite ends of how much a measurement can be trusted.

Which also means the category ranking is unfair in SiteGround's favour, and against it

SiteGround ranks 14th on 1.27%. GoDaddy leads on 4,378,121 domains. Those two numbers are not measuring the same thing, and the direction of the error runs both ways.

GoDaddy is a registrar first. A large share of that 4.4 million is domains it registers, parks or serves DNS for on behalf of sites hosted somewhere else entirely. We can see the consequence directly: 7,358 domains carry both a SiteGround and a GoDaddy signal, and 5,846 of them still carry both today. That 79.45% overlap is not merchants hesitating between hosts. It is one company selling the domain and another serving the site.

It is also why this profile publishes no switching corridors at all. We ran the coexistence test against every hosting pair we could: WP Engine 82.25%, Kinsta 82.28%, OVHcloud 81.09%, IONOS 78.93%. Only Hostinger came close to a real corridor, at 50.00% still-both on 898 domains, and a coin flip is not evidence. Hosting looks like the one category where migration should be easy to measure, since a site can only be served from one place. In practice the registrar and DNS layers overlap so persistently that the signal is unreadable.

The customer nobody puts in a hosting comparison

Hosting reviews are written for developers. SiteGround's measured base is not developers.

Construction is its largest industry at 9.08%. That is the highest construction concentration of any host we profile, 1.63 times Kinsta's 5.57% and roughly double GoDaddy's 4.65%. Advertising services adds 7.90%, business consulting 6.00% and real estate 4.85%. Together, 27.83% of SiteGround's base is a local service business, and no technology row appears in its top five at all, which almost never happens for a hosting company.

The advertising row is the one that explains the rest. A small agency does not evaluate hosting per client; it picks a host once and puts every builder, surveyor and estate agent it works for onto the same one. That is a distribution channel rather than a market, and it produces exactly this shape: a very long tail of one-to-ten-person companies, 92.00% of the base under fifty staff, in trades that will never read a benchmark. Google Analytics reaches only 53.70% of these domains, which tells you how many of them are measured by anyone at all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who uses SiteGround?

Our live crawl finds SiteGround serving DNS for 123,341 domains, of which 103,654 resolve to an identifiable organisation. 72.32% employ ten people or fewer. Construction is the largest industry at 9.08%, and named users include Hinduja Global Solutions, eClerx, Vistaprint, Old Dominion University, Cal Poly Pomona, Flowers Foods and LA Metro.

How many customers does SiteGround have?

We detect 123,341 active domains on SiteGround as of our August 2026 rollup. Counts are domains rather than accounts, and one hosting account commonly serves several domains, so the account number is lower than this. Unlike most technologies we measure, the figure is not depressed by suppression: the signal is a nameserver record, which a live site cannot remove.

What is SiteGround's market share?

SiteGround holds 1.27% of Web Hosting and ranks 14th of 50, behind GoDaddy at 4,378,121 domains, Hostinger at 1,192,207, IONOS at 637,254, OVHcloud at 426,618 and WP Engine at 348,566. The category mixes registrars with hosts, so the leaders' figures include domains that are registered and parked rather than served.

What are the best alternatives to SiteGround?

Among hosts we profile, the closest by product are WP Engine (348,566 domains), Kinsta (91,514) and Cloudways (65,170), all managed WordPress specialists. Hostinger (1,192,207) and IONOS (637,254) compete on price at the shared-hosting end. We publish no switching data between them, because every pair we tested still runs both signals on most shared domains.

Which countries use SiteGround the most?

The United States leads with 41,561 matched companies (44.24%), followed by the United Kingdom at 13,700 (14.58%), Australia at 7,240 (7.71%), Italy at 6,510 (6.93%), Canada at 5,531 (5.89%) and Spain at 4,168 (4.44%).

What size companies use SiteGround?

72.32% of matched SiteGround companies employ 1 to 10 people and 19.68% employ 11 to 50, so 92.00% are under fifty staff. Companies over 200 employees are 2.32% of the matched base and usually appear on a single project or country site rather than across their estate.

How old are companies that use SiteGround?

42.02% of matched companies were founded in the 2010s, 20.35% in the 2020s and 18.03% in the 2000s. The base skews slightly older than the newer managed hosts, which is consistent with SiteGround having operated since 2004.

What is the ideal customer profile for SiteGround?

A company of 1 to 10 employees, founded in the 2010s, based in the US, UK, Australia, Italy or Spain, in construction, advertising, consulting or real estate, running a WordPress brochure site built by a small agency.

How is SiteGround usage detected?

From DNS. SiteGround's authoritative nameservers follow a fixed pattern under sgvps.net and its SOA record names siteground.net, and we also match a set of host-header fingerprints. This matters for how much the number is worth: script tags can be inlined, headers stripped by a proxy and generator comments deleted from a theme, but a domain that removes its nameservers stops resolving. Compare our Jekyll profile, published the same day, where the only signal is a meta tag any theme can delete.

Is SiteGround mainly a WordPress host?

Largely. WordPress appears on 72.64% of SiteGround domains and Nginx on 76.40%. That is a lower WordPress concentration than the premium managed specialists show, which fits SiteGround's position as a shared host that is good at WordPress rather than one that only does WordPress.

Do companies migrate between SiteGround and GoDaddy?

Our data cannot say, and the reason is instructive. 7,358 domains have been seen under both names and 5,846 still are, a 79.45% overlap. GoDaddy is a registrar as well as a host, so a domain bought at GoDaddy and served by SiteGround carries both signals at once, permanently. Reading that pair as movement would be wrong, so we publish no corridor for it.

Why does construction lead SiteGround's industry mix?

Construction is 9.08% of SiteGround's matched base, the highest of any host we profile and 1.63 times the next. Grouped with advertising services (7.90%), business consulting (6.00%) and real estate (4.85%), 27.83% of the base is a local service business. The advertising row is probably the cause rather than a separate market: small agencies build these sites and place every client on the host they already use.
